:lol it reminds me of the town where I used to go to school, there was a "Jehova Witnesses' Kingdom's Room" on the way. Too bad I never worked up the courage to knock on the door between classes. Though I once got my hands on some dumb promotional postcards from the mailing company ("my postman is a poet campaign", ie postcards with random poems from random postmen. Needless to say the end result was hilariously bad^^), and put that under their door. Creepy thing is that an evil old witch was staring at me through her open window across the street the whole time :bat

One word question: Dinosaur?

If the earth was that old, surely they would've been mentioned in their book?

It was hilarious. Ahahahahahaha xD

Funny you should mention that because that's what I asked the last lot. The guy was saying how the bible has lots of science in it and I replied "Yeah, doesn't mention dinosaurs though does it? Or the big bang." He honestly looked me in the eye and said "What are the chances of that happening really? A big bang creating everything?" - like I was the mad one :lol

I wanted to comment my happiness for the victory of Spain in the European Basketball tournament, against France in the final. This is the best generation of players we have ever had, they are awesome :clap

Well, yeah, an explosion of that scale would bind matter around its own gravitational axis, try explaining that to them. :P

If I had the scientific knowledge to back it up I would, but I'm too dense.

I should probably stress that I'm an extremely tolerant person and I place a huge emphasis on people's right to believe whatever they like. I'm certainly not one to criticize anybody's faith, but if you're going to knock on somebody's door uninvited and try to sell them a belief system, then you get what's coming to you.

I'm always very polite to them, and the last guy said he hoped to come back at some point when I had more time so we could talk more.

I still enjoy it though, next time they're getting invited in.

Sometimes they really annoy me tbh. Always come when I'm stressed trying to sort out a million things and are now using con tactics to try and waste peoples time. They are like dodgy salesmen but with nothing to sell. Their last one they tried with me last week was (before revealing who they were) "Would you be interested in help with managing your finances?" I said "I'm not interested thanks", began to shut the door and one of then one of them kept butting in with nonsense questions, trying to not let me leave. Eventually I just shut the door on his bleating. I mean, I'm sure they feel a great responsibility if they genuinely believe they are saving people from eternal damnation, but in reality they are just a complete nuisance. Call me Scrooge if you will....

mdhay
19th September 2011, 06:19 PM
They need to realise that it's their own preconceptions that make them feel the rest of us need converting, if it's true, I'm not bothered if I'm damned, you heard AC-DC? :rock

What a hypocrite. Nobody believes that we are created with love. Most of us believe that we are created by a chemical reaction. Scientists censor "facts" from Creationism because they are not facts, they are opinions, being delusional and believing in a diety are not facts. Gravity sucking is fact. Her being a ball-tripping moron is fact. Stupid woman. :@

Here's another point: She will accuse other things of being a religion, because they do not consider themselves one. Well, you madam, are a gimp. We are related to chimpanzees, you demand evidence, yet you have none.

I swear, she needs to get laid, desperately. People are attacking you because if you say that proof of something in the past and your indoctrination bullshit, it isn't welcome. Take the hint.

//rage, for now.

mdhay
6th October 2011, 05:10 PM
No, I was waiting for my bus and they approached me, telling me that they've been saved by the Lord and all this, showing me that there's a different testament (A sequel?! AWESOME! :P), and that logic does not apply and that something invisible would save me from having my life taken away from me. They were kind enough to not comdemn me though, since I didn't do it to them.

MrSmadSmartAlex
6th October 2011, 05:17 PM
Yeah, it's all waffle with them. :D
I tried to get an explanation of what they were actually talking about and why I should be interested in their faith, but they didn't seem to know themselves. It was all very vague; something about some guy finding some gold plates that angels told him about in a dream (nobody else saw them, of course XD). The writing on them was in a totally unknown language, so he translated them (!) into English, loads of people believed him (!), and now it's a religion. :D

Hey guys,
recently I finished some fun project I was working at for some time. It's a compilation of video clips taken by me with my friends whenever we were on the road. I was just randomly testing out new editing and new effects, some of them worked well and other didn't. And tried to make it look a bit like the Wipeout Zone mode at some seconds :)

Oh and I think every Wipeout-fan should recognize the music^^

Scientists at CERN have announced the discovery of the Higgs Boson YAY!
It's been rather amusing reading the comments pages on the news websites - plenty of people using computers to complain that science is a waste of time and money....

Hellfire_WZ
5th July 2012, 08:59 PM
Careful here. The news from CERN is the discovery of "a new boson, which could possibly be the Higgs". They still need to analyse the properties of the particle before its identity can be confirmed. Regardless though, it is a phenomenal discovery, and if it does turn out to be the one, Stephen Hawking will owe Peter Higgs £100 :)

On the subject of particle physics, the school I work at are currently taking part in the CORUS project, which is designed to encourage physics research in schools. Our contribution involves setting up a small array of cosmic ray detectors in the school, which contribute to a nationwide research programme. If anyone is around London this weekend and is interested in this, head over to the Royal Society summer exhibition, there is a stand there under the name Cosmic 100 which includes our work.

The olympics is great! im loving it, i like any kind of sport and i especially like to see professional athletes push the human body to its maximum by setting new records.
But as with all sports it always divides the public... 50% like it and 50% don't :(
I cant wait to see if Bolt can get a World record but i also hope that he gets disqualified for jumping the gun or just come 2nd.
Im fed up of his ego lol.

Am I the only one who thought the opening ceremony was erm, a bit twee? Everyone else I've spoken to loved it, but I thought it was kind of cringeworthy if I'm honest. Maybe I'm missing the point. I hate to criticise Danny Boyle, he's one of my favourite film makers, and I worry that sometimes I'm a bit of a miserable sod when it comes to things like this.

MegaGeeza22

I agree with you sort of, i didn't really enjoy the beginning when they had all the sheep and then the industrial revolution... there was so much going on at once and i don't think many people got it.
My favorite part had to be David Beckham cruising down the river thames with his big grin and the music that accompanied him lol, he is m favorite sports star of all time, Legend.
Also the James Bond and Mr Bean moments were fun too.
Im just so glad that we didn't just copy beijing like so many people wanted... The UK is about hard graft and not fancy electronics.

I've also seen the Olympics today, but instead of Hockey I saw some tennis at Wimbledon. Due to rain most courts "were converted into greenhouses", despite the main court was always open. Overall, I saw Goerges, Murray and Sharapova win their matches, usually in just two sets. Special mention to Tsonga who won against Bellucci one of the most intense Tennis matches I've ever seen! 2 hours of awesome that made everyone doubt who'd be the winner... Until the last 10 minutes.

BTW I also saw Federer training in front of me. Shame the rain didn't let me show his awesomeness :(
