I've got a situation in Buzzard group where unfortunately I'm going to have to call Default on Assegai82, that's unless I get a PSN reply from texasalex saying that a date has been set to race, I just sent him a message asking him, it's all dependent on his reply.

Assegai82 [forum name Ally] sent me a message around Xmas saying he was sick with swine flu, so I replied saying I would give him a grace period to get better.
I sent texasalex a message telling him what the situation was.

I then sent Assegai82 a PSN message on the 10th of Jan saying to contact me and texasalex to tell us what's happening, he was last online with his PS3 on the 12th, so he would of read the message, but has not replied.
He hasn't visited the zone since 31th Dec.
I and texasalex have been patient, but if no contact is made by the end of the day texasalex goes through on default.

The preparation of the credits took me several hours of preparation during the week and I eventually had to redo it from scratch to add it to the video because of some stupid pixel aspect ratio stuff (I'm new to editing...). So if you have 4 minutes free, that would be nice to have a look ;)

I'm surprised, but not really surprised.
If you remove the BR's from a race when V's a BR expert you level the playing field big time, it throws them off.
Then mistakes start accumulating just because they lose confidence.

I haven't viewed the videos, but I know leungbok would be quite stunned at not making it through.
He's not one to throw away a win when it's in his grasp.

These pilots didn't get seeded for no reason.

Unless you play a tactically measured approach.

Use your 3 choices where you think you can even the odds against a seeded pilot, then have enough notice to sharpen your chops on their 3 selections.

They will make mince meat out of you otherwise.

i only turned off br in one race (ubermall) so the 2 shortcuts had to be done without br's which made it a lot harder....

every other race we played barrel rolls were on..

i love br's as much as leungbok especially those super ones he does from near level surfaces..im always checking out his latest techniques.


good look to qjon (the dark horse) and his opponent this is going to be a major intense race ...i hope theres a film at the end of it too....

As for myself, I'm not satisfied with my performance. I was training some parts (Vineta K Rev's double BR at the beginning, Chengou Rev's non-br shortcut etc) to be quite constant in going through them, in TTs offline I could be sure about myself, but online handling is really different and somewhat annoying, especially for someone, who hasn't been playing online (except Cup races and maybe 10 more races) for almost 2 months.
Blah, blah, enough of these excuses, hope you enjoy the video :)

It's interesting seeing the videos for The Amphiseum and Anulpha Pass, mainly because I had no idea how close I was to you! From my end you were jumping all over the track, sometimes six seconds ahead of me, sometimes six seconds behind. And I suffered the usual lag on Anulpha Pass seeing you shoot off into the distance from the line. It's a shame really as it's kinda ruined my videos.

As I said though, all that is just papering over the cracks really. I hadn't played at all since the Avalon Cup and as you say, the handling from offline to online really threw me in places. Just wish I could have given you a better race really :)

Nothing yet, not sure about any of the games in the Falcon group at the moment. The only one I'm sure about is me V Narren which is taking place on Tuesday. Everyone should be motivated enough to get them arranged without me chasing them I would of thought/hope.

Leungbok, Hellfire and Wellington out!! Who's next :cold? I've hardly touched the game in four weeks, I need to practice.

Anyone noticed the huge amount of matches that are played "weapons off" ?
This is the real proof weapons are too important in HD IMHO...

your completley right temet..

weapons and the random element are just way too large that almost anyone can beat anyone if their lucky on the pads.

some tracks are layed out so if you get off the line first your opponent cannot touch you as you can eat all the pads.

vinetta reverse is perfect as the leader can eat every pad keep a good line and leave nothing for the player behind apart from a bomb or two on a narrow track..

Race report on Krestel cloud round 2:

Ichigo17 vs. Constrictor4U ("A Generations Race")

That was a competition I didn't expect. Never raced Ichigo, just saw the 1st round report and learned that he's somehow connected to those fast French pilots. Err, now what to expect? I was totally clueless. When we had to reschedule our meeting due to illness Ichigo greeted me with 'I'm not trained'. Err^2, well, that should not mean anything. Go for it ...

The first race at Flash was a perfect start for me. 1st pad a turbo and away I was. Got a few other turbos and nervousness did settle. 2nd race did show that he truly wasn't trained. And that followed through the next races. Mate you should have practiced a little more as your MP times are not that bad. The last race on Sol2 was a very special one: At the first split time I got a 7 or 8 second lead ... WTF?! I lapped him in round 4 and after finishing the race he told me that he tried a very special racing technique - telephone-n-racing. I know how disturbing this could be so we did a rematch on Sol2.

In the end it was much easier as planned to advance into the next round.

Lord_Rushton (Olol here) & me have just played our match.

Lord_Rushton hosted the first rounds :

Zone Battle Syncopia 55 : Lord_Rushton win around 56-36. We were killed several times, but Lord_Rushton have done more full boost than me.

Zone Battle Anulpha Pass reverse 55 : kaori win 56-44, I put lot of barriers to slow Lord_Rushton, but he did the same thing :lol
It was very close, 48-44 before I fullboost and win

Flash weapons on Sebenco Climb reverse 5 laps : kaori win with 4-5 seconds, I did lot of barell rolls to take a little advantage, in 2 laps I realized a boost BR before the tunnel, and an other leaving it !

Then I hosted my races :

Phantom weapons on Sebenco Climb reverse 7 laps : kaori win. I took the lead and Lord_Rushton exploded after 3 laps, so I could secure my third win.

Phantom weapons off Modesto Heights reverse 7 laps : kaori win. I saved around 2 seconds by laps and Lord_Rushton exploded twice.
Phantom weapons on Ubermall reverse 7 laps : kaori win. Lord_Rushton took the lead at the start but I passed him after half of the first lap. I've done three "pole" shortcuts, first was nice, second was ugly and third was "chtoing boom" !

wotan took the lead immediately for around 3 laps, then i think turned in too hard and hit one of the barriers and i took the lead, then on the next lap going into the tunnel i turned in too deep and grinded against the inside wall, leaving wotan to rinse me.

Wotan was leading for the majority of the race but on the last lap accidently BR'ed on 15hp and then exploded. very lucky win that was.

Alright, I did some cleaning in the boards today, so round 1 is def. over. I know the deadline has been reached for round 2 too, but as the first 1 was a nightmare lol, I can't blame the guys who still have to play their second opposition.

I've always said I'll organise this cup for my mates, so I really don't give a f^$ùk about all the quitters, late withdrawals and so on. I'm myself completely out of the zone these days, but I gave you my word the day I opened this thread. I wanted to see this "wipEout HD final battle", & tbh I'm ****in hyped by the upcoming oppositions everywhere on the boards. We already had awesome meetings anyway, & I had a real pleasure to participate myself despite the fact I was a bit fed up wth the game too like a few of us. And I was proud to loose against a great pilot like Tar-Elendil. So in other words;

This cup is a blast, & the winner will be "the one", without a doubt.

Vineta K Forward: I got away to a good start and managed to hold ONlocke off for a few laps, then stupid wall scrapes put paid to that, he overtook me and he won by about 3 sec I think.

SOL 2 Forward: This used to be my fav track, Again got the start but quickly lost it due to poor lines and wall scrapes, another round of useless pick up's for me, not sure what ONlocke got, but he shot ahead and that was that.

The far better pilot [ONlocke] won easily, I knew I was a goner as soon as he sent me his selections and I saw Tech De Ra and Modesto .
I detest Modesto so much I was going to forfeit that race just so I didn't have to race on it, but then thought it would be unsportsmanlike to do so.

This was a brilliant tournament. Having never had the pleasure of racing him I had no idea what to expect.

Annoying_Git's choices (All Rapier Weapons OFF):

Metropia Reverse:Annoying_Git*** Annoying Git was in the lead until i took it at begging of final lap, however i hit the pillar attempting a br before the mag strip and lost by 0.2 of a second.
Talons Junction Reverse: Osama-Bin-Haydn*** I lead from beginning to end, though never pulled out any more than a .3 gap.
Modesto Reverse: Annoying_Git*** Took me 3 laps to get used to this track on a slower speed. I caught up, but it was far too little, far too late. Great racing mate.

Anulpha Pass (Default choice):Annoying_Git
We added Anulpha pass to Annoying_Gits choices as it happened to be rapier, but didnt really think it was meant to be weapons on. I was winning until i failed my br off the bridge on the final lap and the Annoying Git (hehe) took the win :p

At this stage I realised nothing less than victories on all my track choices would seal the win.

Osama-Bin-Haydn's choices (All Phantom Weapons ON):

Vineta K Reverse: Osama-Bin-Haydn*** 4/5 perfect laps was just the start i needed.
Anulpha Pass Reverse: Osama-Bin-Haydn*** THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC. Having seen Annoying Giy get a number of early boosts he disappeared into the lead. I was consistantly landing double brs but was not catching. Then on the final lap, just before the triple speed pads, I got a boost br followed by a missile. The missile hit Annoying Git meters before the finish line, and i just managed to squeak by for the win!!!!!!!!1 :rock
Chenghou Project: Osama-Bin-Haydn*** I was really confident going into the final race on my favourite track. The tournament was ended in style with an 8 second lead.

Final Score:
Osama-Bin-Haydn - 4 / Annoying_Git - 3

No surprise Annoying_Git said he was gutted after the race. It was an epic battle and he deserved to win as much as I did. I thought choosing "weapons on" had come back to haunt me with Git's many boosts on AP Rev, but I somehow pulled through.

its sad to see players withdrawing from the cup in round two after commiting themselves.... must of had a really good reason not to be able to spare just 15 mintues in a whole month to play a match...maybe going to the moon.... it helps spoil the competition for the 99% that commited themselves and did stay commited..and wastes the time of the volunteers who wasted a lot more than 15 mintures chasing people to play games they said they wanted to play...:frown:

I screwed up badly and wasn't really close the whole race.

A better race from my angle ,but C4U was faster and sailed to victory

3rd race: Chengou Rev
We had a restart at this race, we started the race and after half first lap my little son started the other ps3 and by accident logged in on my account,resulted that i was logged out.
I told C4U what happened and that im ok to give him the victory,but he insisted that we should restart and have a fair race,thx for that my friend :)
I managed to win this extremly close race within 0.2 sec,pheew!

4th race: Anulpha Rev
I was saved by a lucky rocket and managed to keep him off all the way

5th race:Moa Rev
CU4 took an early lead and i think it was at lap3 i did a double tap with quake and rocket to take the lead,sorry for that
At the last lap i secured my win with a well placed bomb

6th race: Uber Rev
A pretty close race with a lot of wall scrapping and missing speed pads,by now both pilots had problem with their nerves

7th race: Anulpha
Well it wasnt anything special at all,i was saved by some cheap mines
and managed to race to victory

Wow what can i say, i think i was lucky to win this battle and if it had been all weapons off you would had pulverized me.

It was really no contest against a washed up old HD pilot like myself lol, but all credit to skylar, he whooped my ass. The only race I won was Sebenco and I'm still not sure how I managed that!

Nice race log with those little recaps. I can never seem to remember more than one or two races from a tourney so I'm always impressed when I see people give a full written statement on what went down :P

Well, that's it for me. I'm out and to some degree I'm angry w/ myself that I screwed up on this.

But first things first: Thx AiiR for this 90 minutes ever increasing intense and heart attacking races and the nice chat.

As the log says I got a perfect start. AiiR messed up at first lap in the first race on SC rev. Sol2 was closer but still somewhat calm on my side. I was on the winning road - I thought. CP rev was IMO the key for me. The race was until lap 4 ok, though I wasn't able to pass AiiR. In lap 5 I tried some things I'm not experienced with and finished as runner up.

Now it was my turn to lose ground. AiiR did some pretty good job on the weapons deployment. After AP rev and Moa rev (my quake didn't save me here) it was 2:3 ... Well, now it got really exciting - or stressful. I had to win Uber rev and that race was draining my last energy out of me. We both did stupid mistakes and the lead changed a few times. In the end I was able to win this. 3:3 ...

Well, death race at my 'favorite' track AP ... I did change from Feisar to Icaras. Don't know why, maybe because I always race Rapier and below w/ Icaras. After the race start I instantly hit a few mines. From that on I wasn't able to catch up. I f'up all possible BRs and the only one I managed to pull off was stalled by another pair of mines. Even the turbo in lap 4 didn't help to win. I tried a boost BR+BR+BR on the last upper straight before the finish line. Did work - somehow - but AiiR won by more than an second I think.

Let me say that I was without any energy and enthusiasm for W'O'' after the race. To be honest, deep inside me I did not expect to lose, even that I know that AiiR is a great pilot. On paper and my confidence told me: Well this is the first real battle (no offence to Tragedia and Ichigo) in the Cup but I am good enough to advance to round 4. Big, BIG mistake. :D

So thx again for this great experience AiiR! Contratulations! And good luck within the Cup.

And also a big thx to Kanar, the Cup's Command Centre and all dedicated pilots for organizing and partizipating in this epic event. I'm proud being part of it.

Moa rev, trying not to give up my position i was in the direct firing line for rocket, although i fired back DP89 turned the corner to avoid em, +3seconds down lol even with generous amounts of shileds turbos and bombs.. not one quake to turn it around. With a suitably fast time it clear to see why. 4-1 win.

We did modesto to finish it off, i was hoping for a 4-2 result but after some well timed weapons (see DP89's vids) its was scenic tour of modesto, even with br's before the hairpin and the turbo on drop, u disappeared man! 5-1

Many thanks for the races, i thought you would do well in the last avalon cup, so i expect you to do well!
Also a big high-five for kanar for creating this whole experience, you rock.

At phantom speed it felt like I had full controll, a funny thing happened at Tech de ra on 2nd lap, when a quake hit me in the brigde section. It almost swooped me off the brigde but I saved myself last second with sideshift.:g

The rapier races were more tight and I know that anderkovver is a good rapier pilot, but I managed to win 2 of his choices.

I've just been in butt kicking mode trying to get the rest of Buzzard group's 2nd round matches completed.

One is being raced today thankfully.

The 3 other uncompleted races it seems have all got one pilot willing to race, and the other making lame excuses :naughty, so the excuse makers have been given a ultimatum, race within the next 7 days or default.:mr-t

I mean it's about 20-30 minutes of your gaming time to complete, is that really too big an ask?

Someone mentioned that videos with lower frame rate sometimes create the illusion of the ship going faster. Maybe it was Connavar, not sure now. But that could well be it. Phantom running at 60 fps on PS3 converted down to 30 fps for youtube.

Bombel2000- 4 beat Imre92 -3

I'm not sure what the story is with these races, or what the tracks/speed class ended up being, but as I understand it from various messages received between the two of them bombel2000 refused to race on Imre92's selected Fury tracks [Imre92 told me this] and also didn't want to race Phantom[Bombel2000 told me this], so Imre92 changed his selection, which I think is very gracious on his part, but just as equally given a unfair advantage to Bombel2000.
The results could of been quite different if Imre92 had raced his original chosen selections.

Kanar you might want to investigate with Imre92 about what occurred and if he feels he was disadvantaged [language barrier] , and if he wants a rematch, as if this is actually what happened then it's a HD CUP rule violation on Bombel2000's part as I see it.

You cant refuse someones choices :( Im confused a bit though. Did bobel refuse to race imre's traks and speed class, or was it imre asking for a different speed class?

I know a few people have changed their choices gracefully for the other player, and kudos to them, but you definitely shouldnt be forced to.
