Most races were actually quite close, execpt Sol and Chengou where he completely ran away. He was right up my exhaust on TJ rev, so no obvious advantage on the Fury tracks. I even gave away two races on completely stupid mistakes on lap 4, but that's the name of the game. Whoever doesn't make mistakes wins in no weapons races. And Welly is still cool as ice :p

He hasn't quite reached robot level yet, but I suspect it's just a matter of time. You'd still need to bring your A-game to beat him though. That bloody Feisar is fast! ;)

It's going to be fixed, besides don't worry too much, just bought pure on the PSP for practice, and if worst comes to worse and it isn't fixed by the 9th then I will gladly throw in the towel, but there is time yet...

Also it hasn't YLOD'd, and I know the exact problem, so it shouldn't take as long, the Blu-Ray disk drive that spins the disk has burnt out/broken/lost connection to the rest of the electronics, so there isn't too much to look for.

I would like to apologise to you all guys btw, as I'm definitely not in world of wipeout these days... Due to a lot of stuffs. My manager at work had a rugby accident last week during his free time, & he won't come back 'til a few month so I'm "kinda" the new manager in charge (+ I got a raise in the meantime, & more load of work too gah.) And... My wife & I just adopted a 8th months female dog with the funny habit of peeing in the house, it's a lil bastard who lived during 1 month in the animal shelter; OMG she's tiring us. But she's so cute too. Arh I know, so cliché to write that here lol. Once again I'm sorry for not being as "Leader 1" as I wanted to be in the first place... I know, I set the stuff and so on... but sadly my real life is not wipeout compatible these days.

But. You can count on me 'til the end guys, don't hesitate to pm me here or on the ps3 for any help, and you can count on me for this thread maintenance too, the boards will be updated almost each days. After trading wins in our chosen races, it came down to Anulpha. I was in the lead most of the way and a perfectly timed missile knocked me off line and off the track as I was going into the final straight to the finish.

Hi Rubix, i came to post the same thing.

amazingly 4-3 which i never thought i was going to win (the pilots who choose phantom are a real challenge and only few times i beat them), i didn't win the phantom races (his choices) especially the metropia reverse (lose with 10 seconds), but my beloved zone battle finally made the draw.

I know i had luck with the missile in the last track, but also i lost some races by this way.

thanks for posting here flaflasat; well I dunno what to say about your experience, tbh in 99% of the cases the pilots (even from different nationalities) manage to play a best of 7 races in perfect fairness & gentleman attitude. So obviously we had this 1% biohazard weird internet behaviour stuff here. Hope we won't have more.
Sadly, & as we said before, this 1st round will be a joke for a few of us, due to quitters, last minute withdrawals & other weird issues.

But hopefully, it was/it will be great fun already for the majority of us. I wish you a good 2nd round my dear flaflasat!

Well if your opponent agrees you can.
But the rules state that you can have two races the same, with the third slightly different.
Like weapons on /off or Barrel Rolls on/off or a different speed class.

Problemsolver, I'll let Oryx answer here, as it's him who put the whole stuff in place at challonge. Regarding the boards here, I'll start to update the global view pic in first post of this thread as soon as we'll have a definitive/stable board; we're still in a copy/paste pilots period due to late withdrawals or unresponsive/Missing In Action opponents.

Hopefully it should be fixed early 2k11 wth the FINAL RAPTOR MIA PILOTS REPORT*, so we'll definitely integrate the pilots who registered on the waiting list.

sadly not however the challonge-boards are pretty much the same as the original awesome-board, in that no single match has been entirly replaced (that is no match has had both the original players replaced) so if you want to see how people will travel through the brackets then I'd suggest checking the awesome-board.

on the other hand when we're done with the preliminaries there will be one final board with all the finalists. I just haven't gotten around to making that one yet for obvious reasons ;)

in the meantime I hope it's not to big an inconvenience :)

im getting really bored with some of the people in this world cup.

was meant to be fun but obviously not to them.

the time wasting and stall tactics irritate me.
im a raptor i see many of these players online yet they tell me they are too busy to play even though they are playing when im speaking to them.

one guy is using the fact his list is full to avoid his meeting...wtf ..whats a list gotta do with it just start a game and type in your opponent you know is online waiting cos your raptor just told you.

like a world cup meeting takes 20-30 mins and they did actually sign up they were not forced.

if you go online as well since the world cup registration all i see players from the cup using fake psn id's trying out their track selections and rage quitting on a loss.
there are no longer any rooms full of familiar faces where you can socialise and have a laugh if they are they are very rare now or pre-organised.
people gotta remember this was intended to be fun.
now this is not aimed at everyone there are good intentioned players out there not doing the above and they should be used as an example to the party poopers who are not playing along.

It's kind of a busy time for everyone at the moment, so we shouldn't be too hard on everyone. I had to call my own race off last night at the last moment, Hamster was very understanding though. The difference between any regular on here and someone who is not a member is just a little bit of respect. They have no 'relationship' so to speak with anyone, so they won't be arsed either way if they get in touch quickly or not. I just think we should let the three weeks ride out and see were we stand then.

Kanar has done a great job getting things this far, so we should just keep asking politely for a response and not get too stressed, if they still haven't responded nearer the time then at least we tried.

In the Avalon Cup I was getting a bit stressed with similar things, but as it turned out, I was sending messages to someone's brother. It was the brother online all the time and not my opponent. Maybe send a messages asking if that is the case for any of your people who aren't replying. It could easily be true.

But yes, overall this is always the problem. A lot of people are enthusiastic as long as they only have to say "I'll play", but they don't actually want to be involved in any of the planning. They literally just want to show up and play.

I know it´s bloody frustrating not getting a reply from your opponent, but as long as you (yes, I´m pointing my finger at you, dear reader :D) has done what what you were supposed to do (trying to get in contact with your opponent): Be sure the raptors will try to solve it for you and make the right decisions regarding advancement to the 2nd Round :)

Hi everyone. I apologize for my absence, but I had problem with my PS3, YLOD caught my console. It happens in saturday, when I was played Dead Nation, undead difficult, almost end of level... and then.... freeeeeez, and blinking red light... I turned off. On, and I meet my worst enemy...

But today, I bought heat-gun, and blow this mo#@%rfu@#$r out from my PS3. Unfortunatly don't know how long it will works...

To the people with yellow lights on there Ps3's ,if you could not re-heat the boards you will save your self in the long run..

The boards actually need to be re-fluxed and then re-heated.

If you just re-heat them it will last a week or so maybe a month if you did a good job. but will fail again..

Get your Ps3 off to a good service agent (not Sony) and make sure you ask them if they re-flux the boards,, if not then go to one that does..

If you do it this way then your ps3 will work for years to come...

It was really great fun racing Rom last night. I did not veto barrel rolls because, as much as they've ruined the franchise for me, I didn't think it would change the results.

At one point Rom asked if I wanted to try a slower speed class than phantom.

"Vector?" I suggested, but HD doesn't have parking mode. ;)

I really appreciated Rom stepping down to Rapier for me, and I'm happy I got a win on my favourite HD track, even if it was due to a lucky quake/missile pick-up combo.

I had such a good time racing that it's a shame my participation in the cup has come to an end, but Rom wiped the floor with me and it's clear he has the talent to continue toward the finals. Best of luck to you, my friend! :+

This was a close one. In the end I seemed to come out on top (reaching the finish line before phaeton's ship :beer) but the game decided it was phaeton's win nonetheless. Lag ftl, but no arguments over it, win for phaeton.

My race was far from flawless but phaeton never took the lead on this one. Phantom was proving to be tough for both of us, not having played WipEout properly in some time. Win for me.

Never got in trouble on this, I mean I could probably play this track while sleeping and still do well. :) Fair play to phaeton giving his best shot on a mode he barely ever plays. Win for me.

This was the key race. 2-2 at this point and another ZB coming after this, so it was important for phaeton to win it. It was close all along, and we were literally head-to-head as were nearing the finish line. I got lucky as I picked up a boost from the very last weapon pad and snatched a close win. Win for me.

Took an early lead with a perfect lap and not missing a single pad, but then started hitting barriers I wouldn't normally hit and basically just screwing up. Blew myself up twice but still came out winner in a race that seemed to be going on forever. :| :D

The races between me and Killer_Kid won't happen. Killer_Kid forfeits and retire from the 1st round.

We did one race and he was totally out-matched... After this first race, he left and logged off. Later, he said i had this first round because he can't compete at all (i'm 61 and he's 1, doesn't even have Fury).

This is a shame he couldn't have fun with us, and i retire nothing gratifying from "winning" this round...:( I told JJPAP about this but somehow the Hawk board is not updated accordingly yet.

Yeah he messaged me the other day at the PS forum, but I couldn't understand what had happened from the way he worded the message.
