Today I sent WipEout HD Cup ID Cards to 58 of the confirmed wipers.

You have to thank Kat-Kun for the design of the cards :nod

I was only the "slave" (LOL) filling out my portion of the card w/ the names and data of the respective pilots. ALL confirmed pilots will get their cards, but the final production of the cards is split between several members of "The Command Center" - and this production (and sending!) takes time! :|

Also Sony like to spam millions every week, but me sending 58 PSN PM´s w/ an attached photo they don´t like 8)
So, like when Kanar sent out the rules of the WOHDC through PSN, some of you have got a PM w/ a corrupted photo. Thanks for the feedback - I´ll try to send those "affected" a new one tomorrow. If any probs w/ the attached photo, just reply the ID Card PSN PM (like some of you have already done) and I´ll see what I can do!

Wanted to post a small update, especially with Gt5 release. I think we need to clarify some stuffs right now.

83.98% of red pills, that's already a fantastic performance, so I would like to thank all the pilots who confirmed their participation. Special thanks to my Raptor mates, you guys did a fantastic job so far, spending ages sending pm, mails, phone calls, smoke signals to every pilots who previously signed in this cup. To be honest, I realise 256 was somewhat unrealistic, wipeout hd is awesome but was released long time ago now, so motivating such a big number now is def. mayhem. But I can't forget these 200+ pilots who are definitely IN, that's just amazing, & this is already such a nice picture for the record.

Less than one month before the start now. Among the people who didn't confirm yet, I'm certain half of them will pop up in the next few days, as they're well know members here. There's some special cases too (the (P) status, who just can't give me a definitive answer right now). I'm rather confident & I respect these people, busy with their real life probably, but who'll give me a head up as soon as they could for sure. I'm insisting on this point, as what's I'm about to say below is definitely not aimed at everyone in this sad, blue status.

I'm dedicating this major, BIG :- to the dudes who made me/us loose my/our time, in this order :

Number 1, the ****ing campers in the boards who just popped up at some point & never gave any news from now. Once again, behind internet & psn IDs, there's people so the least you can do is to answer to the pms we send you. We're not dogs, we're human beings.

Number 2, the dudes who quitted for stupid reasons. Right from the start, I just proposed a major wipeout pilots piss up, nothing more. Of course there's some bots registered in the cup, and I should say hopefully too, just for the show & some future great uber high skilled yt vids. But for the majority of us, including me,

this cup is nothing more than a farewell to one of the best game ever made. So to the motivated ones, you'll never walk alone. My fighting spirit will compensate my lack of skills, and I'll give my best to pass the first round at least lol. I just want to feel this joy of racing in a big, intense wipeout competition a last time. I waited for 5 years to play gt5, so the stig & the Lambos can wait a bit for me now. I gave you my word there, I won't disappear, I'm not that kind of man. Because I respect way too much all the pilots who confirmed their attendance to this GRAND FINALE.

Now the upcoming schedule. Deadline for the blue IDs is around Dec. 5/10, at least for the (P) status & for some well known zoners & pilots we all know. For the others, I mean the IDs we never heard about, they'll be put in the waiting list as soon as we find motivated pilots ready right now to enter the comp.

PS Home ceremony is still scheduled for the early days of December, we could organise maybe (maybe) a rehearsal for some teaser needs before, as I think we need some kind of counter attack with this gt5 release. I'm sure at 100% a teaser featuring 50/100 wipeout pilots dancing all together at the wipeout museum could have a great & positive impact on the registrations.

I've been confident in these registrations so far, but of course we're starting to wonder what to do in case we couldn't reach this 256 magic number. Perhaps the best thing is to draw lots anyway, & offer the opportunity to some unseeded pilots to pass the 1st round without racing. This is the worst scenario there of course. Cos' as akirapill could say, it could be somewhat insulting for them in this case.
At least I'm sure we'll have a great competition after this critical round 1.

What I did is copy & paste each unseeded pilots name in Buzzard group from the first page in the order that they appear into Notepad, then pasted that into the random list generator, ran the program and that's how they came out.

Connavar was online 10 hours ago..... Don't know what the story is there, he's seldom online these days, or if he is it's not for long, but like il-Nik he has visited the zone today.

Sabin Slash was online a few minutes ago, I sent him a message and he said he is out of the cup due to work commitments, plus he hasn't played WO in ages.

kihkoo asked me about the cup only about 10 days ago and messaged me he wanted in, I'll ask him to confirm.

I wouldn't have a clue about the other 10 or so as I have never heard of them apart from Kolex.

Anyway I think it's time to thank the 200+ pilots who confirmed & can't wait to start this journey in world of wipeout. Be assured guys this stuff is about to start right on schedule, despite this upcoming weird first round. Around 18 pilots will have -probably- a fast path for the next turn, and hopefully the cup could really begin in January with the second round.

I remember one time I googled the terms wipeout hd cup I found some forum discussions talking about us, and the guys didn't have a clue of the rules lol. They are uber simple, that's probably why some people can't imagine such a simple stuff.

Best of seven races, you pick 3, your opponent picks 3, race 7 is always anulpha pass Fwd, rapier, weapons on

Speed class, Barrel rolls, ships, laps : NO RESTRICTIONS
You can't pick a same track version twice.

If you & your opponent fully agree on your 6 choices :

You're free to pick whatever you want (ZB, single race weapons, no weapons, eliminator...)

If you & your opponent have one single disagreement : the default rules :

Obliged to mix up your choices by picking 2 modes between these 3 : Single race weapon - single race no weapons - Zone battle (eliminator is not allowed in this case) for eg : 2 single races weapons on + one ZB.

World Cup Tip 1
Feeling overawed at drawing against a Seeded pilot first round?

I think people are forgetting that you can choose to have Barrel Roll's OFF in your 3 selections.
It's usually the ability of the elite phantom pilots to pull them off consistently that gives them the ability to get well ahead and stay there makes them elite, remove that option and you give yourself a much bigger chance of taking out a top seed.;)
You still have to beat them at THEIR 3 chosen tracks though, and you can bet your last $ they will be BR's ON.

World Cup Tip 2

Practice Side-Shifting.
It can put you back on the perfect race line without any loss of speed, and without the need to steer or use your air brakes.
Also great for avoiding those mines and bombs that suddenly appear.
You can also use it for ramming your opponent, I know I hate it too but if it's an available option in the game and you are getting your arse kicked why not use it.:pirate

Honestly, I've never had a parcel delivered to me that rattled so much. The outer shell is in 2 pieces (amazingly split right in between the ps3 logo!), there are nails falling out the box everywhere, the hdd is missing, the bits of the ps3 that are "intact" and split and falling off anyway.

Then we get to the bluray itself..... its so battered and burnt it looks like you removed it using only a crowbar and a blow torch! :g

I cant help but wonder this poor thing was thrown out of a window after a particularly bad race? :D

@blackwiggle some really good tips there! but you might want to try and practice your BRs too if you (like me) are facing tough opponents in the first races and are unsure about how you'll do.

Every attempted BR is practice for me.
I never have got them down pat like others have.
I have a very small "Optimum Racing Zone".
Timing is everything, any SL or TT person will tell you that.
I can hold my own when in "MY ZONE", but that has been a long time since I was in that state of racing mind.
I think it could be said of most people in the zone.

Just use google translate, have two instances open of it, one English to Italian, the other Italian to English.
Write what you want to say in English and have it translated to Italian, copy & paste the Italian translation into the Italian to English translator, run that to see if it makes sense, if it does write the translation down and then type it in as a PSN message.
If it doesn't make sense adjust your original message and go through the process again till it does.
It really doesn't take more than a few minutes to do, I know, I've just had to do it for Polish, German, Spanish & French.
The hardest part is typing out a foreign language as a PSN message.

I think you've gotten a few things confused, mate! Firstly, the seeds aren't numbered. Hell, if the list was numbered, I'd probably be #64... and secondly, if you're saying I'm a moderator, or any "the" moderator, this is not the case, I'm just a regular poster! :lol

World Cup Tip 1
Feeling overawed at drawing against a Seeded pilot first round?

I think people are forgetting that you can choose to have Barrel Roll's OFF in your 3 selections.
It's usually the ability of the elite phantom pilots to pull them off consistently that gives them the ability to get well ahead and stay there makes them elite, remove that option and you give yourself a much bigger chance of taking out a top seed.;)
You still have to beat them at THEIR 3 chosen tracks though, and you can bet your last $ they will be BR's ON

Cool to try to make people more confident about some of the opponents distributed on the different leagues ^^
...but, if you look at the recent winner of the avalon cup, luxoflux, his strategy to win was to choose phantom no weapon races, and that means 1 BR per lap (a 6th is possible if you loose less than 10% of shield). I do believe almost everybody on wipeout hd/fury is able to succeed one BR per lap on most tracks ! :P
So, best advice IMO is to choose weapon races at a slower speed ! You'll have more chances to perform clean lines and item effect will be decupled. Of course luck will help also ! ;)
