I'm delighted with almost every aspect of this expansion pack already - the content, the price, and the timeliness of the release. Great work, guys :+

To put £7.99 in perspective: Do you guys remember a record store (UK) called "Our Price"? They used to have a phone line where you could listen to certain songs (over the phone :? ), and they charged 35p per minute. One of their songs was "Supper's Ready" by Genesis, all 23 minutes of it. In order to listen to that song just once, it would have cost you £8.05 :eek So, the Fury expansion pack is actually 6 pence cheaper than listening to one Genesis song once!

Like few already know, i am a kind of (old)student the weekdays with no true internet access for my ps3 in my room but the weekends i am back at home with a proper clean access : problem is i am back only friday afternoon after driving 2 hours and missing the 1st online night ( like i missed the thursday 25th september 2008 first online fights).
So i decided to get my friday morning free to be able to go back to Le Havre today after the courses to be right on time to DL Fury.

Nothing wrong with that except Fury will cost me ... 189€99...

Yeah i am loosing 3 days of paiement ( cause i can't sign presence list on friday noon and all my weekend is lost in term of money)due to unjustified reason they mention it to me:robot, couldn't have time to explain them why it is a frakkin good reason why i got to leave :rock

Hi guys,

Glad you're all enjoying Fury!

I just wanted to jump in now to talk about the annoying hang in the online game list when you scroll to the bottom.

We are aware of it and have a fix in the works now. Please be patient.

For the time being though be careful not to scroll down to the 20th game in the list or it will hang. Please use the filters (triangle button) for now to find the race you want.

Also the coming fix will sort out the slight in-game stutter some of you are experiencing (particularly in Zone mode).

I will update with progress on this in the coming days.

Thanks,

Paul.

I don't have Fury yet (not until saturday) but since i always use the filters (I dont wan't games with vector or flash to popup) and I have never seen more than 12 games.

By the way, If filters could let choose several choices (multiple speed class/event type) it would be perfect.

My gripe is that sound effects for the new ships seem wierd, it´s like we are constantly inside a tunnel and explosions are too high. If i use HD ships the sound is perfect again. :?

Anyone noticed too?

Eloï
23rd July 2009, 10:30 PM
I read on the blog post that the new ships had a second "glass panel" ( don't know the exact word ) on the cockpit, to give the feeling pilots were more protected. Maybe they also added sound effect on purpose ;) Can't tell myself yet.

Strange problem I'm experiencing... Was running speed laps on the new tracks and everything was fine. Hit the PS button to swith over to the XMB, as I had received a message. Upon opening the message my PS3 froze up. no biggie, it's happened many times. Restarted the PS3, read my message and fired up Fury again. Began a speed lap and woah...the sound effects, specifically the engine sound and the sound when going over speed pads is VERY loud all of a sudden...it sounds like I'm driving in a tunnel the whole time, but louder. I had not touched my volume or anything else. Hit pause and went to the audio options and saw that my music was set on 90% and the effects on 80%, which I assume is the default, as I have never messed with those settings. Tried lowering the effects volume, which helped a bit, BUT the woman's voice and any other sounds got much quieter too. All I know is something's not right and I have no clue as to why. Tried restarting my PS3 again, as well as turning my receiver off and on again, but it hasn't helped. Tried different tracks and different ships, but nope. Tested the sound through my cable box and it was normal. Has anyone else experience this? It's bugging the crap out of me...

Nunalho
24th July 2009, 02:27 AM
That is my gripe, i already expressed it twice but it seems no one cares. Curious is it only happens with the new ships, if you use HD ships on the new tracks the sounds are ok and you only get the "tunnel sounds" once inside tunnels...:clap

@ Nunalho - Actually, I tried using the HD ships and it didn't make a difference...still had the same issue. It's a moot point though, as I tried playing online with Fury for the first time and the sound was back to normal again. So, once I finished online, I tried running speed laps again and the sound was back to normal there too. A very strange phenomenon indeed. I'm just glad it worked itself out. I hope the problem doesn't crop up again though...

LOUDandPROUD
24th July 2009, 03:19 AM
Y'know, I think the fury ships actually may have a throatier, slightly louder sound than the HD ships anyway, but what I was experiencing was VERY loud to the point that it was distracting and I couldn't play. It wasn't just the ships that were loud either, it was the sound of going over speed pads and the sound of hitting walls that was extremely loud too.

Damn FURY is bloody gorgeous, I am sure everyone was blown away by first accessing the new menu. Seems like Fury is all staged in the 'Hell level' of Doom3 ... :D ... seriously, all that screen shaky effects, that awesome fire particle rendered AG-craft, the red on black Menu fonts and not to forget the new pumping sound loop. This makes my adrenalin rush into the bloodstream even before starting up an actual event. Eliminator is awesome ... plasma'd one CPU opponent in tha face this morning , made my day :evil

2 thumbs up to all the guys at SL, thank you soooo much for your continous effort to deliver the sexiest game in the history of videogames. And your helpful attitude toward any bugs, glitches, complaints, whatever ...

It has been said million times , but i'll do it again, not getting this DLC could be considered the crime of the century ;)

It's there and I played HD Fury for roughly 3 hours in campaign and some online races (zone battle and eliminator) ... let's say it this way: Fury is worth every cent. I did not expect anything less. Half of my cents go for the nice menu :p I like the particle demo-scene style together with this background music - Farbrausch style.

Anyway, I feel a little uncertain on the more action and zone related events. They are currently not the thing I'll going to love soon. It's so different compared to HD. A too big change for me at the moment. So I'll stick with learning the 'new' tracks - man, I f'up big time when joining one phantom race on a new track :beer And maybe by completing the campaign I'll adjust and love all or some of the new modes.

Alright, so I just fired up Fury again for the first time since last night and the sound issues I had before, that I thought had worked themselves out, have cropped up again, except this time while playing online.

Like I reported earlier, the engine sounds, speed pad sounds and collision sounds are extremely loud to the point that it's distracting and the game becomes unplayable for me. I've experienced this in all three modes I've played in...speed lap, time trial and online single race. It just came about randomly and it went away randomly...then came back again randomly. If I lower the effects volume, it helps, but then I can barely hear the woman's voice. If I lower my receiver's volume, it also helps, but then I can barely hear my music and all the effects I need to hear.

I'm royally pissed right now. It's doesn't appear anyone else is having this issue either, which doesn't give me hope for some sort of explanation or fix...

See my post in the bug report thread for more details...

Wicked, wicked, wicked game design on battle zone. It seems so complex firsthand, but once you've got it... il like to finish on synchopia with 3 barrel rolls its so rewarding.... There's a real dilemna between getting in the lead right from the start or building up your zone bar quietly behind. But then the faster you go the more zone pads you get and the more perfect zones you achieve... must... speed on... :rock:rock:guitar

It's not a race based on distance but on speed/acceleration. It's not where you are that counts but how you manage to build up momentum. Great!

Detonator... is decent. I got bored I must admit. I'm no good at shooters.

Eliminator is SO much more fun than in Pulse! It's like when I was a kid and we were chasing one another around then the one being chased would turn around all of a sudden with frowing brow and malicious eyes and inverse roles, everyone screaming with glee.... Well that's how great it gets. I'm not too sure about the glee screams but a headset would confirm it I'm sure!

Concerning the new tracks/ships, more of racy goodness is good.

just... :clap:clap:clap:clap

I'm getting a lot of 'Vista Pads' on online Eliminator mode tho (other modes fine), way more than before.

It´s not just louder, its like we are constantly inside a tunnel.

I think Mallavol is the new Anulpha Pass in terms of easy reaching +50 zone. I made perfect zones in the first ones, after is a little bit harder, but only in some part.

Last night i played Battle Zone with some of the zoners here, problemsolver, bartgai and others. I suck at this mode, i passed of all the barriers lol.

Just another update on the sound issue I've been having. Like before, it just randomly went back to normal. Been fine in multiple modes for over an hour now. This is very strange...

Fuk it, fuk it, fuk it. Had a felling this was going to happen.

Is this bug related? Or too many people having slow net connections?

I've only had one so far. Or maybe it wasn't technically a Vista pad. I got a bleep but no weapon. That was in a normal race I think. In eliminator they all worked...a little too well in fact. Crazy stuff!

Maybe it was just busy or something.

I got the 'beep' weapon sound but no weapon, sometimes 3-4 pads in a row. Considering it's eliminator mode was a little annoying, but i'll give SL the benefit off the doubt for now and try after the 2.01 patch. :nod

Arghh, still have ghost bugs on Fury, my current time isn't the same than my ghost :blarg
And some of my records are longer to synchro than others (if they synchro one day )
Pleeeeeaaaase, fix that, it's HUGELY annoying ! :robot

Well, I didn't understood at first that I needed to let the bar be filled before using it (I immediatley used it but saw no differences). After that, it is fun.

Detonator is ... not my thing. The only events where I can't get elite gold u_u

Eliminator is much more fun since it doesn't count only kills (it was annoying having damaed an opponent just to see someone else giving him the coup de grace. That way is the best !!!

Same with me Kyoto. Lots of Vista Pads in Eliminator

I think the vista pads that people are experiencing in Eliminator races is related to the fact that I think you have to be closer to the pads to pick them up in Fury than in HD. I've noticed that many times during races, and it always happen when I don't hit the pad straight on but instead at the edge of the pad. Normally this would give you a pickup in HD, but for Fury this seems to have changed. Any official input on this?

I had loads tonight aswell. Mostly flash speed, some rapier, both old and new tracks. Seemed to be the same pads each lap, and for some events it was as much as 4 or 5 pads per track! That leaves you only a few, and they are far between :/

Whats with these eliminator sessions vista pads ive been told about? I experience zero, and i have the shiitiest internet connection on the planet.

So its only at Venom and Flash speed. Well the quick solution there is to race at Rapier or Phantom speed instead.

BTW people who have raced me online in eliminator mode. Does my ship appear laggy?

okam
27th July 2009, 01:37 AM
I had it at rapier aswell, but only did 2 or 3 races at that speed (nobody hosts them, and I cba to set it up and wait for people myself :P ).

I think the vista pads that people are experiencing in Eliminator races is related to the fact that I think you have to be closer to the pads to pick them up in Fury than in HD.In that case, people wouldn't hear the "bonus pickup sound" with nothing in the weapon slot.

I didn't play a lot online this week-end, but never experienced thoses problems.
I always play in Phantom or Rapier if there aren't any event.

I admit that if you perform well, you will earn more points and get a higher rank faster, but i think you must keep getting good results if you want to keep your rank. Otherwise, the ranking system is meaningless.
That's why i'm hoping to see a ranking system like the Street Fighter 4 one, where wining against stronger opponents give you a lot of point (and losing against weaker ones substract a lot).
Actions during the game (destroying opponents, getting destroyed, getting out of the track, etc.) should also give/substract points.
The Street Fighter 4 ranking system you're talking about is the old one (BP : Battle Points). Capcom noticed that some people disconnected before the end to avoid losing points. That's why they made a new Ranking System called GP (Grade Points) that always increase, it increases more when you beat a skilled fighter than a weak one.

Sch@dows
27th July 2009, 08:40 AM
Yes my point was mainly based on the "old" ranking system.

But I don't think the Grade Points have something to do with the disconnection rate, otherwise it would have been simpler to add a penalty when you are disconnected during a match (like most of the online based games) whether is was intended or not.
It is more likely that Battle points were not suited for the new Championship mode.

As for your explanation, it's not entirely true. Technically, anyone who plays long enough can eventually get enough Grade Points to advance to G1, but that's from here where the game will start penalizing players for losing matches.
Loosing the 1st match will substract points (-10 if I remember correctly ... i didn't loose my 1st match in a while ^_~), but loosing in the following match will still give you a few points.
If I remember correctly (I didn't win a championship in a while too n_n) only the championship winner get the cumulated points of his opponents.

@ Kigo, yes your ship does. In fact, when we played last night, most of the ships in room were laggy to some degree (probably because you were hosting). Often most of the people on the track looked like they were outside the track on corners caused by lag. This obviously made it difficult to try and kill them.

Yep, you were going all over the place, and seemed to be travelling too fast for me to shoot you. This is why I lost badly. Bad net connection. Definitely. ;)

That is my gripe, i already expressed it twice but it seems no one cares. Curious is it only happens with the new ships, if you use HD ships on the new tracks the sounds are ok and you only get the "tunnel sounds" once inside tunnels...:clap

Same here, it's absolutely CHRONIC and ruining the experience a bit for me - seriously.

Bugger.

That sucks heaps.

Any Vista pads in the game though?

Cause i didnt experience any.

Crob you keep on parking your ship facing the inverse direction on Tech De Ra on the main straight there. XD. Good thing i always had rockets available at those moments in time. That room was crazy then, and stinkleroy was riding hot big time.

Ive gotta organize an Eliminator Session weekend,

What about this weekend, anybody interested? Itll be a casual event, no recording, no competition, just pride at stake.

Had my first go on fury today.

enjoed it very much! phantom eliminator is great fun :)

Not too keen on fury ships retaining their high stats vs standard ones, seems like its making the original content annoyingly redundent, but well worth £8 in my book :)
