Good question. You should have a go and see what you think. Egg's camoflage seems to work well on it. Due to the shine, I think steering away from something that needs raised or lowered panels or deep textures are best avoided - which is why those metal panels I tried on the prongs just didn't work in-game at all. And because the prong textures twist a little, I think going for text would be tricky there.

Ricanebleu, I'll tell you what - when I get a bit of time this week (or the weekend), I'll patch the joins on that one and try to tart it up a bit and upload it so you can use it if you like.

i got another idea, if the grates dont work out maybe try a translucent panel instead, that would be cool, similar to things like see through game boys etc, then it wouldnt matter so much if it warped and you could still put pipes etc behind it, il have a quick go and do an example

    //edit

    more flags - zargz' Legacy

it's funny how a simple pixle will be perceived as a star!

hmm .. I should add a thai flag there as well ..

Yeah, I saw Aka-sho's skin. Really lovely. I love the use of the classic AG logo.

    Cool

Nice new skin, zargz! Won't be quite as scary mid-race as the green machine, though. Sometimes refinement takes a bit of the shock value away.

Hey guys i dont own a PSP and the game but saw how easy it is to make own skins, so i made one and hope it works.
Its themed like the Gulf paintings from real race cars:

I clicked on "publish" (or whatever it is in english, i use the German site), so dont know if you can download it or not....

yeh, you are right .. I feel if people don't pay attention they'll se it just as the standard skin
so if there are too many assegais in the race I change to zi Green.
also if I get bored of this one

I'll try to change the back a bit so at least I can see it's different.
but also pilots behind me hehe

Dogg Thang, you’ll do that for me ? ….(joy tears start falling)….Oh, thank you, thank you….I’m sure you won’t regret it. You’ll see.
At this moment IMO the best 2 crafts ever made are AXX Faisar and Samael Silent Hill Triakis. I can’t make up my mind which one I like most but I suppose since I love Triakis …
…..I can’t believe: my favorite game is now a skin for my favorite team

Heh, cheers. I felt your Triakis loss so, as well as trying to finish that other one at some point, I threw this together. I'm calling it the Triakis Crystal. It's blingin'.

See a bigger side view here - http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26...ideCrystal.jpg

I'll post it on the skins site in the morning.

having raced against a bunch of custom skins online, I've come to the conclusion that if you want in-race recognition of your ship, then using very few colours is the way to go.
if your skin has more than one main colour, then the colours need to be in big chunks
Zargz' green machine is a great example. I see that colour, and I know that it's zargs that just shot me and flew past. But I have never noticed his name or any other details on the sides while racing.
I've put a lot of effort into some of the skins I've made, but for in-game effect it's been mostly wasted.
I've taken to racing AG-Sys online, and the skin I am using is the simplest one I have made so far. But for in-race recognition I think it's probably the best

the only reason there's any details on this at all (the coloured panels, lines, and the ag logos) is that I couldn't bring myself to race a ship that was so plain

Dogg Thang!?!!.................. where on Earth did you came up with the idea? It looks hypnotizing. In game it feels like the jet beam behind the craft is consuming the ship itself, like ice burning or something. Truly beautiful special effect. Still, Samael looks far more impressive

I have begun to work on a new project for Triakis based on the Metal Gear but with just the online editor the progress is slow and far from what I had in mind. Soon I’ll upload some pictures.
    --------
GTAce, I liked the Gulf AG a lot more
    --------
Lion you might be right, still the colour can be shaped isn’t it ? Like your Qirex2097 or Dogg Thang’s Crystal Triakis. I mean it doesn’t have to be flat simple. I like it dough

Where it came from was me just trying to work out what might work with the shininess of the Triakis rather than against it. I thought if I went with something light and glass-like, the shiny bits might look sparkly and highlight it.

I wasn't putting forth a rule, I more intended it to be seen as a tip for making a skin that stands out in game.
I still like my 2097 qirex, but in game it's just the dark purple qirex.
the ag I made is another red and white ag, but the shapes are large and different enough from the default that they are obviously a different ship.
    certain patterns would work...
a Union Jack ship for example is always gonna look like a Union Jack.
a Stars and Stripes ship would need the different colours used in the right places to work well.
if I made an New Zealand flag ship, it would just be a blue ship with red bits.
it's all too do with the intricacy of the design

having realised that. I now see two different target uses for a skin.
the race-car paintjob. which is not necessarily pretty. but stands out from the crowd.
and the pretty ones, which are more impressive in screenshots, but aren't as clear in game.
just like the real world really

the Only place, ingame (and when I say ingame i mean IN game - not in the lobbys Player Info screen
where you Only can see the right side of the ship, which should go in another thread),
where you can take a look at the skins is on the start grid - looking forward and also using the back view.
what you'll see is a highly pixalated skin with no details what so ever ..
so that's why I went for the Huge font on my Go-reeno Massi-no

    your Simplest One look awesome!

suspicion of photshop use there -
that smooth transition from red to white couldn't possibly be done on the online editor

    the Vanity!

also on the left side of my new assegai skin I got another nick of mine, pav, writen with a Huge font
and a yellow cross on a blue background - the swedish flag (for the ignorant of the fact )
that imo isn't big enough to be easily seen online.
though I got at least one confirmation, from emwu, that he've seen it!
which was prob'ly on the start grid.

the name and especially the flags on the right side,
which you can see from the lobby and even there they are too small to see good,
I doubt that you can ever see in game ..

    http://wipeoutzone.com/forum/showpos...&postcount=523

although I've made the blue a bit darker I'm worried that other racers online will just see it as another assegai ..
