Sup dudes, I dunno how to make pretty little inline thumbnails on this board anymore, (it's been a while...) but I can just about remember how to link, thus I give you my first 2 'attempts' at custom skins:

I wanted to keep it subtle, but cleaned it up a bit and experimented with swapping the blue and yellow, it didn't look so pretty. The blue I took from a pic of the EU flag, the original turqoisey colour was to dour for me. Oh and obligatory tricolore

And an AG Systems I whipped up in a few hours today:

the only green and white Wipeout ship I can think of is Kel Solaar`s Qirex, but I don`t think it`s that.

Cause I don't fly AG-SYS, it was a challenge I set myself to try something more complicated than the little detail changes on my Feisar. Since the peeps in this thread have been making such awesome skins from scratch (though my AG-SYS is still mostly the original textures).

And actually it's nothing to do with Kel Solaar, (think someone else has already done a retro Qirex haven't they?) it's actually based on the original wipEout renders of the AG Systems craft that you can see in this old thread: http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1484

P.S. you probably can't tell in those shots, but the Feisar actually has WOZS3K running down the nose, even though I haven't posted here in ages I thought I can lose catastrophically online in the name of the zone!

P.P.S. I do remember Kel's logo, I had the original Playstation demodisc 1 with the wipEout demo on it - Altima VII, AG Systems and Tentative by CoLD SToRAGE, gods I feel old now...

im giving up the skin editor. i cant do anything with 16 colors, when something looks perfect in the editor, the sides dont line up ingame, my textures keep getting screwed and ingame the details and cockpit are just solid colors of my skin.

im really sorry, but ive had it with that thing...

I'd love to see a F400 version of Cherovoski's Auricom...would any of you Photoshop masters be up for that??

Of course the problem is that her Auricom was a single-hull...perhaps the design would go better on Feisar, EGX or AG-SYS (traitorous I know, lol).

P.S. - That WipEout render is the most gorgeous WO pic I've seen. It's my PSP wallpaper. I drool over it everytime I see it still. I especially love that Daniel Chang is watching John Dekka pass him!

Having the right number of hulls is an issue for remaking the single-hulled old ships.... but I can`t help feeling it would just be wrong to put Arial or Ana`s colours on another team than Auricom. I`m currently doing an Arial Auricom on the Pulse model, even though it would fit better on an Assegai. It`s a challenge and needs quite a bit of re-designing (and more design talent) although I`m learning some useful stuff about Photoshop.

If anyone wants to go retro, all the graphics, logos, colours and textures you`ll need can be got from here (with thanks to Jospicy). Most of the good stuff is in menus.pcx

The grey has really grown on me. I like it much better than the green I had.

Sorry I was slow in getting some images up. I picked up a slim PSP this weekend and the X button had a short so I had to return it and was a little down about that.

Oh wow! Are you going to publish that one? I would download!

I will publish the cold war Qirex or at least post the 2D one. If you want to recreate the green, feel free. I used the green as a base for my grey so the original is gone.

I wouldn't be worried, Lance. Most dictatorships/currently condemned governments chose great colour combos. Heck, even Hitler knew enough to stick with red white and black.

Publishing a skin puts it in the queue to be looked at by the moderators - when they approve it, it will appear in the gallery. Right now, there's nobody there to approve it, I imagine, since it is the holidays.

Here are some shots of my Pulse-themed Qirex skin, inspired by the image that accompanies the loading screen tip about the side-shifting technique, incorporating a load of ascpects of pulse's design like the grid hexagons, that oscilloscope that appears during loading, and little mini pictures of all the ships available in the launch version of the game.

The ship is not totally black. I added different shades of dark greys and midnight blues to give it a little depth. There are a few "bolts" on the wings, a KITT license plate on the rear and the signature red light on the tip of the nose - of course.
