@Shamarskii don't think he braked to quake ya, but slammed into the archway ^^

Thanks for the new vid that you posted on youtube. Thanks Cipher.
With 2097 you had to beat the Phantom challenge to open up the last two tracks, these last two tracks are only available to be race at Phantom speed.
As for your problem getting stuff shipped to Belgium, seems rather strange, I can buy stuff from anywhere around the world , which I often do, and I never have any problems.
Do the French guys at Wipeout Arena have problems getting stuff shipped to France? I doubt it.
PM me with what you are having trouble getting hold of [I'm guessing WO3SE would be one, and maybe a NEGCON Controller, I'll try and sort something out, depends what you want, shouldn't be difficult, it depends if you need some weird regional version of a game, that would be the biggest hurdle]
As for the problem recording 2097, it might be that you have set recording at the wrong aspect ratio, 2097's natural aspect ratio is 4:3., I think your card might be trying to convert the format differences on the fly, hence the jumping.
It wasn't until WO3 that the option to play in the "Widescreen" 16:9 format became available
stuff from the UK won't ship to me for some reason, despite it being only a small pond (the ocean) away lol
Apparently you can play PS1 games on the PS3, though for some reason my version of 2097 won't work -_- (or i'm doing it wrong), found a place that apparently sells(and ships to my place!) wipeout 2097 new, although i'm very skeptical about it, but going to buy it either way
I'll keep your offer for when i might buy wo3 though ^^
And i troubleshooted with matrox, concluding that they do not support non-video standards (although ps1 pal is 576i (a standard), wipeout 2097 doesn't run at this resolution), although i'm hoping to bypass this problem by playing it on the ps3
As for completing 2097, i have, apparently, gold medals everywhere, so i must've completed it after all ^^

If the game [2097] allows you to race on the first tracks at Phantom speed using Piranha, then yes you have unlocked everything.
Only the original FAT 60GB and 20GB PAL model PS3's were backward compatible with PS1 & PS2 discs, also the NTSC 80GB model in the USA, you can check the back of your PS3 for the model number against those listed at this site to see if it is BC, I somehow doubt it, most have already died of YLOD.
The PS3's system software still shows the same options for backward capability as the original models, which is why a LOT of people have been confused even though no PS3 made after Nov 2007 has been able to do it.

From reading the site below on capturing directly from the PS1, it says PS1 games ran anywhere between 240 and 480 horizontal lines, and that not all capture cards can accept resolutions below 480.
I know the PS1 only had composite out, I use to use a old TV card for a PC that had composite in to do that for friends wanting old video tapes burnt to DVD.

i have completed the game then, although i can't remember doing it lol, must've been 6 years or so ago when i did
as for the PS3 thing, everywhere on the web i keep finding that all PS3 models play all PS1 games, but not all PS2 games
I have a PS3 slim and this dude (weird dude but whutevs lol) tests it out and it seems to work; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JgdumqvqJc
i have the 320 gig one though.. so we'll see
As for the recording, yeah, read that wipeout runs @ 320x240 @ 50i, but i'm not sure, and if it is, i won't be able to record it properly via the ps1, so i'm crossing fingers hoping the ps3 will upscale it to a standard video format supported by my, mxo2
Will probably order the 2097 disc this sunday (50 bucks (european bucks) for a nearly 20 year old game, ridiculous…)
Thx for the help though
Cipher
ps send me a pm if you wish to continue this conversation as we are really going off topic now![]()
Well what do you know, it works.
I just tried my PAL versions of the old games on what was originally a 120GB slim PS3
2097 = Yes
WO3 = It will load, and the game is playable until you hit the blue start line, then it freezes = NO
WO3 SE [this is the double game version that came with Destruction Derby ] = Yes
hehe, we learn everyday
Glad it's working, any idea which resolution 2097 is running at on your TV?
Cipher
I played the old school wipeout games a long time ago and they are the best games because I like the music that was on there and that's why I came back to play some more. I also played Extreme G 3 for the PS2, XGRA, and F-Zero GX when I was a young person in my early teenage years.
Not sure what the ultimate resolution the TV is getting.
I have the PS3 in Game settings on PS Upscaler = Full Screen, Smoothing = ON.
It takes up around 85% of a 16:9 ratio 46" Sony 3D TV.
As I have HDMI sync switched on with all my components [It means I only have to press the PS button on my controller and it turns on the PS3, TV and surround amp all at once, if I try to change TV settings using the TV's remote while playing 2097 it's like pressing the PS button on the controller, the quit game etc options come up.
It seems upscaler is equivalent to Zooming in the picture, without it 2097 appears at 4:3 ratio.
I'm not sure what the PS3 is upscaling to, as my surround amp only upscales signals received from component video or less, not HDMI, so there is no report I can read from the amp
It's playable, but even with smoothing looks pixilated, I reckon it's because of the HD screen, when 2097 was released your average TV had 576i max lines so hid most of this pixilation.
It's a trade off, don't upscale and have a smaller 4:3 ratio picture & less definition/less pixilation, or upscale and have a bigger 16:9 picture / more obvious pixilation
I went big, surprise.
Still a GREAT game
2097 running on an emulator looks BOMB when I HDMI it to my telly. Much much better than running it through my PS3.
@blackwiggle sweet setup, mine's a mess and isn't as simple as pressing a button
the ps3's hooked up via component to the matrox (hdmi doesn't record, because HDCP…)the matrox is connect to my tv with component as well as with my desktop via PCIe, but before i get image on tv, i have to launch up final cut studio on the desktop, in final cut studio, initialise log and capture, which will give me image on the tv, and then i still have to enable previewing of audio, so that i have audio, then i can play ^^ ( with a little bit of latency, but i can live with it)
as for 2097 on the PS3, well i ordered my supposedly "new" copy of 2097 via amazon and hope it'll output as a standard format, otherwise no recording 2097 for me, unless emulator as yeldar said
@yeldar which emulator are you using? psx? i've thought about that as well, but i'm a nostalgic bastard and would love to play it on the console itself and if it works on the PS3, you got your wipeout friends around
Cipher
I hope Amazon send you the PAL version, not the NTSC one.
I might look into emulation at a later date, as I have other projects on the go [my place looks like a small construction site ATM ]
I've sort of fallen in love with Intel's on board graphics, you can do most things without the need of the complications of a graphics card in your PC now days, but Emulation would not be one of these.
it's amazon.de, so i'm guessing it'll be (also says pal on the image, but that's not really a point of reference)
And eww at integrated graphics, got an lga 2011 socket CPU (3930k), so no intel graphics for me, prefer to leave that stuff to my video card (GTX 680), keeps my CPU way cooler having it separated
Also, to keep it slightly on topic
Cipher
Hey Cipher, thanks for the new uploaded vid and your music selection is very good. Talk to you later dude. Bye.
KronicReaper
@yeldar i'll look into that then, thanks for the info
