Heh...lemme just say one thing. That's the last thing you done mate! You were absolutely awesome thank you for doing so well in this competition made me proud to be the Kestrel Cloud GM, playing all your games in time and playing hard and fast, that's what I wanted to see!

To all the other Kestrel pilots! Major kudos It was a very competitive cloud that managed to do all their games swiftly with no hitches, for that I thank you! That was all on your part, you all had the right attitude to help make Kanar's dream cup a reality, in fact - I didn't have many incidents to deal with because you all had the right mind set!

So, to the cloud king: Dark_Phantom89, major congratulations
To all the other pilots in the cloud, I salute you for helping keep WipEout alive! (counts for the other clouds too!)

Wow, bazzman took out the Mirage beastie!!! I'm surprised. But as you say, if it was all Phantom, there would be a big difference. At the same time, if there was no Zone it would also make a big difference. I know exactly where you're coming from DP, but at the same time, I'm positive kanar made the right choice in allowing different speed classes.

Sorry to hear about your elimination Dark Phantom, and congratulations to Bazzman. (I share R3BU5ER's finals fear.)

Anulpha is the hardest to take. That track is literally 100% luck weapons-wise. If you don't get the right pickups and the one in front gets bombs/mines, goodbye...

DP, of course I know what you mean. I'm a strict phantom pilot myself, BSB/SHORTCUT/Wacko BR fanatic FTW & tbh I just can't understand why these lower classes are still in the game ah ah. But as Medusa pointed out, my point was to reunite the family no matter their taste in term of gameplay. We are one here, no matter how you play this game. So yes, maybe the grand champ won't be a "purist" aka phantom "jedi reflexes" pilot. But he'll be an awesome winner anyway.

Flash in wipeout is slow, but flash as a hdd (sdd) is fast... lol, out of subject but true

I dont know man. What about Bazzman. He got this far by playing with the best and he specialises in flash speed from what i can see. All the way he chooses flash races and his competition chooses phantom and it goes to the decider which is rapier. And he won his races fair and square and changeing the rules to suit the phantom pilots just seems wrong and unfair to him.

Kanar talks about this competition is to bring together all the pilots it doesnt matter if they are phantom or venom pilots. If they can win on a fair platfrom then they deserve to be given a fair chance. Changing the rules now is NOT fair. If the 7th race was always phantom to begin with then i dout he could have made it this far but the fact remains that the 7th track was rapier class anulpha pass.

Making Rapier as the 7th track was fair. the competition should stay that way in my opinon.

I dont know why flash pilots get so much stick. its a different way of playing this game and the barrel rolls are much harder on the slower speeds then they are on the faster speeds. On the faster speeds its all about the timing or you get stuck to the walls. It all balances out.

Sorry if i sounded a bit harsh but if you change the rules now it would be a joke and not a fair competiton.

Personally, regardless of the speed, having Anulpha Pass as the decider track is a bit iffy due to the overpass being such a respawn bonanza when someone gets any type of weapon there (barring leech beams), as even a cannon can send you off there. The lower path is seriously terrible, and anyone using it willingly is asking to lose.

So for a tournament, the luck factor there as a decider is a bit too much. I can't think of any other track where a hit would lead to a near 100% chance of a respawn on a stretch of the standard part of the course. Even Sol 2 respawns aren't guaranteed if you know to try and save yourself with a sideshift.

I think you should just leave it up to the players to come to a 'gentleman's agreement'.

You can't change the deciding race format, that would be totally against the spirit of the Cup.
Rapier/Anulpha was chosen precisely because it sits in between the two most hotly contested speed classes, and favours neither.

And as for DP saying it should of been a Phantom only cup and the insulting inference that Flash doesn't require a lot of skill [logic would support that obviously more skill is required by you at this speed class otherwise you would of won] seems like sour grapes to me I'm sorry to say, I'm really disappointed in your post to be honest, seems bazzman won fair and square......You lost on a decider that is in your opinion a supposedly inferior speed class, and that requires less skill than you infer is required of the eventual Wipeout HD CUP Grand Champion, yet you lost to somebody who specializes at a slower speed class.

I've never had a cross word to say to you previously, but your post comes across to me like Phantom elitism at it's most vulgar, and is totally out of kilter with the whole reason for the HD cups format.

Iv never raced any of the top 6 pilots in this cup but i believe you should be able to choose your own speed class because thats what this cup was all about and changing the rules now would be a bit wrong... this cup is for the King/Queen of Wipeout HD not Phantom and i agree with blackwiggle.
Maybe someone should create a poll and see which speed classes are most popular.
I cant wait to see some videos for these last few races! and well done everyone!!

no offense but it's a bit more difficult to reach a good rank in phantom than flash or venom ....
be first is always difficult in any class and require a bit of skill

The next CUP should 8 races, 2 X 1 each of all 4 speed classes, each pilot selects their preferred track, make it compulsory.

Then NO arguments, Elitism down the drain, either you are are the "GRAND WIPEOUT MASTER" in ALL SPEED CLASSES.....or you are not......simple.

Also I got the rapier global no.1 on sol2 multiplayer so what are you saying? And I did that by not even practicing on sol2 on TT or SL. TT and SL doesnt make you a better pilot online. If anything it makes those TT and SL junkies afraid to get shot at. Dont you agree?

i play phantom too but get too many complaints from elitist pilots for shooting them so I stopped playin it after 2 months of the game when i got it. I sitll play it occasionlly but dont play it exclusivly like you guys. I like to play other speeds too.

Now i play rapier more than anything because everyone knows how to play properly. Without dishing out silly complaints about weapons

Disclaimer: I'm a bit pissed.

2nd disclaimer: as the cup has reached the later stages, I wanted either DP, Jan or tiduch to win the whole thing, as they're all online friends of mine and great pilots. So I was rooting for DP in his match.

But I have to say I agree with ion_harvest and blackwiggle entirely, I don't like this phantom elitism one bit. If the next iteration of Wipeout was one, really f*cking fast speed, single races only, it would be a sh*t game in my opinion, and I'd have no interest in it.

The beauty of the Wipeout games (again in my opinion), especially Wipeout HD, is their diversity. Zone, Detonator, Eliminator, Zone Battle, races at all speed classes... I enjoy them all immensely. And I appreciate the skills of the players in all of those modes.

If you only enjoy doing phantom races then unlucky, but to denigrate venom/flash specialists as "not proper wipeout players", in my humble opinion, sucks balls. If the WOHD cup had been phantom SRs only, good luck getting 64 players, never mind 256.

The HD CUP was to find the "Overall" Grand Champion.

Not any specialist speed or race type.

Problemsolver could have easily won the Zone championship.

Darkrium 777 could possibly of got the highest score in Detonator,

As for the rest..... it was.let's rumble, and that's what we did.
