    YES!!!!

some of you may know I do have a full HD tv but I dont play wipeout HD on it because ot the 0.5+ seconds lag i have wen i fly the planes, now i just found out that my tv got a game mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it feels perfect!

so now i can finaly play the damm game as it is intendant to do!
the strange thing is I play on that tv with only 1.2 meters away from the 46inc screen. so that when i do my cockpit view i am realy in da game and 75+ zones that is realy insane looking!

Quick question for the XtrEmeZonErs (you know who you are ):

When you are trying to improve on a track, does it just kinda 'happen', or do you actually practice it? What I mean by that is, will you do consecutive runs of the same track in order to improve, or is it more a case of doing some Zone and maybe improving on a track due to generally being a bit 'better' at Zone Mode than you were before?

I'm just wondering whether the top Zone records take time, work & repetition like non-zone records (which to me seem to be mostly acquired skills, rather than inherited), or whether some people are just more gifted than others when it comes to negotiating tracks at speeds that would make even Jean-Luc Picard flinch

Im ranked 18 on Coridon 12 at the moment on zone mode.
(not bragging or anything, coz that sux)

But yeah It does takes practice. I played nothing but that stage for over 2 weeks. tried at least twice a day.

Slowly and slowly my score increased. But the best way to score high on zone mode as you know is to not only pass alot of zones. but also try to get every lap a perfect lap because this is where the secret lies.

@Yeldar, for frequent small improvements, repetition helps.
You know how on one run you get a lucky perfect lap on say zone 42, and on a different run you get a perfect lap on zone 46 but crash on zone 42. Well with repetition you're hoping for that 1 time to get perfect laps on both zone 42 AND zone 46.
This is good for high zone scoring courses like the pure four: you know you can get perfect zones at really high levels, but on each run its at different times. If you do enough runs, sooner or later you'll hit that perfect one where everything hits (like the lottery I guess )
The only problem with this I get is my eyes start to bleed after like 3 runs :O So I have to take a break.

But to make big improvements I feel you have to really know the course. Notice how the corners flow at low speeds, how easy it is to get round if you use the right line. Stick to the line, even at low speeds when any way round will do, to drill it into your head. Then as the speeds get higher it will come more natually.

Yeah in order to get really high scores (attempting world records) you need two things: skill and repetition. Just being good (very good) isn't enough, you need to practice lots and lots on the same track to really get to know it. After a while you won't even have to think about the track and it's turns; everything will happen automatically, and you'll see that your results will get better, slowly but surely.

So it definitely takes time to set high scores, but you obviously need to be gifted in a sort of way, meaning... you can practice all your life but if you're just not good enough.. it's not gonna happen.

I just set the Metropia Zone World Record, check Connavars site

@Jav: That's a very good result, I would say. Good job!

Are Zoners interested by BattleZone tourney ? (we make single races and we count as a classic tourney ?). The Broth3rs think about that. It could be nice to play on BattleZone tourney lol.

I'd be up for it Ace3cube. I need more practice though, I'm pretty good at Zone but patchy at Zone Battle.

zone 140 onwards it becomes quite hard, but from zone 150 onwards it becomes
a binary situation. Either you run perfect or you are dead. Going from 150 to
160 can only be done in a pure mental state, meaning, every rational thought
will kill you right at the spot. So if you think you can fail, you will fail
right at the spot. If you look at the counter and think; oh sh!t, 10 more
zones to go; you will fail right at the spot. Everything that takes you
out the slighted will kill you. No second chances.
Gotta love how you say it becomes "quite hard" at 140! My all time record is zone 125, and that was nearly a perfect run for me! I call it nearly perfect because usually I slam into walls late on and die, whereas in that run I just lost life gradually. I find the problem with zone mode is that I no longer want to continue after reaching a high zone, in case I beat my score achieving a lower zone. My 125 run beat my 104 run by just 1000 points! Does anybody else feel like this? I'm quite confident that I could improve upon my score of 337000, but don't want to risk losing 125 as my best. Lol..

You should be able to get a much higher score anyway, by just getting more perfects (both zones and laps) on your way to the higher zones. 125 is not exactly INCREDIBLE on Syncopia (don't get me wrong, it's a good score) but it's beatable. Who cares if you beat your score on a lower zone? You'll find that if you practice a lot you'll get more perfects ánd get beyond zone 125.

By the way, "gradually losing life" is not a good thing. It means you miss out on a lot of perfect zones and laps since you lose a little bit every time. Losing big sums in just seconds is preferred, as long as you can restore it.

Out of interest, I've done 1700 laps of Syncopia, how many have you guys done? Be interesting to see !

Also I agree that if you avoid walls it is preferred, but as I have only once recorded a perfect lap beyond Zone 100 I felt that Zone 125, perhaps 130, are about my limit. Maybe after another 10,000 laps I'd look back at this post and laugh though .

Don't have too many on Syncopia, I only got the Fury expansion like 2 months ago. I have about 18000 on Anulpha Pass though

Well played I'm not even sure I'm in the top 10, can't be bothered with Syncopia really. Believe I'm in the 400k though so, probably.

I might get into Syncopia again, not happy with my current score. That's a good effort though btw Lurifax, keep it up.
