I'm not really sure how well Eliminator will play out with just two people in it, it's not really designed for such low numbers. You may end up with the longest games in history .

Can't wait for lag free racing, empty tracks and no bombs/mines that I get caught out with like a rabbit in headlights

    sorry had to quote that entirely cos' these are great remarks;

-True, eliminator could look awkward with just two people, but I would be happy to welcome guys like PEPEDA (happy bday mate btw, if you're reading this) or another eliminator maniac into this competition. For sure the majority will choose single races, maybe some people will take zone battle, but I think it can be fun to have this possibility too. Of course the dead end is someone crazy enough to put the eliminator scoring to the max as you said, so please guys let me know what could be the fairest/regular maximum goal (as for zone maybe).

-LAG FREE!!! yes Kgb, I saw the recent complaints from JABBERJAW, (yeah a LAN option would have been awesome...) of course this issue is driving all us crazy lol. So a cool 1vs1 will probably have less lag issue, but to be sure I hope Mr Haiku could answer to that question if he's around

I could go for this, if everything will be wrapped up by October? Otherwise I may have to pass (I have a rule not to take my PS3 up to university).

Hey guys, thanks for your interest and your input here! Well everything is running well so far, and we're on our way to reach the 64 pilots subscriptions . Sadly I'm finding 128 entries kinda unrealistic so the following will be fixed up real soon :
Subscription deadline is scheduled to the end of august/early days of september, as soon as we will reach 64 pilots in fact. I'll draw lots RIGHT AFTER I GOT the full list (remember, like tennis, wimbledon)

First round will probably start mid september (maybe earlier), with a maximum of 2 weeks delay to fix your 1st round match with your opponent ( a dead line will be fixed).

So to answer to your question Deathjester87, only round 1 (remember guys, it's exactly like Wimbledon, except we're playing wipeout and we have to arrange an online rendez-vous with our opponent) would have been played by the end of october. If everything's running uber well, we'll have 2nd round right after, and so on 'til the final, expected way before christmas lol. People unable to play during the week could arrange their match over the week-end if possible, for example...

Yes, Storm, this is the spirit I'm talking about! Quoting that once again, cos' I believe it's the most important thing to know about this cup :
    Custom Battle :
-Each pilot chooses 3 rounds (speed Class, single race (weapons/no weapons/green, lap number) OR zone battle/eliminator
-best of 7 rounds (you can pick the same track version twice only, counting round 7)
-the last round will be the same for everyone
Just in case : if a contender feels disadvantaged regarding custom battle choices :

"TEH FAIR RULE" CAN BE ACTIVATED --->no more than 3 times the same mode, counting round 7 (optional rule, only activated in case of disagreement)
    ==============>CUSTOM BATTLE IS DEFAULT MODE!!!

I'd like to take a part in this, too. I'm not very good at the game and I'll be happy to even pass 1st round, but participating is what's important so...

I play Goteki 45 and I'm still not used with Phantom Class, so please don't make me play Phantom

Thanks DP, just trying to offer some good times to all the wipeout pilots around, like you did with the big avalon week-ends so far. HD was released long time ago now, even if it's still one of the best game on ps3, it's more & more difficult to renew its online interest. And the Cup setting doesn't require much involvement, as I'll just have to update the reported results.

    Hi Kanar..

I read the rules think i understand..

a few questions about thing i do not understand

whats round 7..it says same for everyone so what is it.

also when you draw lots for the games are you going to do it by random

    or

are you going to do it like fifa style with seeding type system
and draw from random from the weaker group and match them with a player drawn from the stronger group to stop top players from eliminating them selves early and allowing weak players a chance to get to the final by luck

lastly i am not to sure about the eliminator and zone battle option..
their are quite a lot of players like me who just dont play these modes at all
their are a few players who wont race full stop and only play eliminator.
if these two types of players meet in a round it wont be much of a contest
as they will automatically lose the 3 rounds on game modes they just dont play and the 7th round will be won automatically by the player who game mode is used.

    race player vs eliminator player

    racer wins there 3 races
    eliminator wins there 3 races
if the 7th round is a race, racer wins if its not they win.

can you explain please..as i am confused

Hey Jasmin, you're right, it's time to fix this eliminator/round 7 issue. But first, about drawing lot :

    - I'll try to make 2 hats, as much balanced as I can for each part of the board. As for nba playoffs I mean, west and east side. Depending of the vibes/interest here, I'll draw lots "live" at the wipeout museum (playstation home).

-Argh finally the main issue you talked about. Wipeout is first a racing game, so round 7 will always be a single race with weapons enabled (and probably a rapier class). So zoners & eliminator fans have still their chance, even if racing is a little bit favoured. All round player style.

Hope I answered to your querstions Jasmin, & thanks again for your interest.

    Thx for ansering questions

final round as a rapier race is good ..rapier is playable by slower speed players and phantom players so its like middle ground..

two hats is good..would be a shame that all the top players eliminated themselves in round one and the final was between two beginner players.

How about assigning each participant a number and draw them out of the hat that way?

Yes DP, nice idea. I'll assign numbers to each participant, then I'll make 2 (maybe 4) hats. Hats in order to prevent first killah rounds.

    PS : 23 slots left.

I wasn't looking at the start date before. I should be able to arrange things with a relative level of certainty by the time mid-September comes around, so probably can commit to this. So please add my name to the list.
