I've rushed out of my place with the garbage in one hand and my house keys & wallet in another,only to promptly throw both down the garbage shoot.
Not much fun getting into a smelly dumpster to retrieve them.
Another time I was in the elevator going up to my apartment,I was getting my keys out of my pocket as the doors opened and the keys fell down the gap between the elevator and the floor to the lift shaft bottom

I threw away my car keys (my ONLY set for that car) - and was tearing the house apart trying to find them the next day.
I finally set down and thought "okay - where the @*()#$KKKK did I go in the past 24 hours? I haven't even left the house?!??"
Next thing I hear is the garbage truck coming over the hill - I ran outside and snatched the garbage bin back from the side of the road.... and yes, the keys were in it.
Literally saved them by 5 seconds.
