@blackwiggle: The color scheme for MACH 1 is a bit special in the way that
I almost always get the feeling on Anulpha Pass that the game stands still or
    is running very slowly. xD
The frequency of the popping marks matches a multiple of the refresh rate of
the eye. Sometimes I have to remember myself that I'm in zone 60+ to
not accidentally hit the wall. So I'm quite happy all the time to rapidly pass
through that stage up to SUPERSONIC, which is where I start to feel quite
comfortable. Sorry, guys! It is sick, I know. But it's pure beauty as well!
Running beyond zone 100 with the music turned loud compares to nothing.
And doing perfect laps at zone 100+ really shows that you are there, there in
    the ZONE.

    Keep going!

Ah-ha! That explains why I had so much trouble there, I feel the exact same thing. I usually just start to rapidly lose shield when I hit 60, even though I can feel that the controls just got more responsive. Maybe I should try AP reverse to see how much of a difference racing 15 zones at such a speed in an eye-friendly colour scheme feels like.

Thanks for pointing that out, PS!

Up to my point view the controls do change way too much / fast after zone
    60. They become twitchy. It even starts at zone 42. On Anulpha Pass that's
not much of a problem, but on any other track it complicates the steering for
    no reason.

So there are essentially to difficulties to go through the MACH 1 stage
    (a) the color scheme, and
    (b) the twitchy controlls.

Speed isn't a real problem. The 'unnatural' sensation of MACH 1 irritates
    most people, I guess.

God I hate Mach 1. The track walls are so much harder to navagaite / work out distance wise as they blend into the actual track, but I guess that was the point untill you get to 75 when it becomes a eyegasm.

Tried this again after so long (and Zico in the other thread).

Made it up to a personal best of Zone 86, had more health coming out of Mach1 then going into it. Finally had a good couple of minutes of Super Sonic eyecandy, god it's awesome looking.

I feel pretty chuffed about that. Next stop Zone 90? Teach me PS, oh wise one.

I can't play any Wipeout unless it's in cockpit view.

I don't consider it Wipeout unless it's in the most involving mode.

I think ASSA and others that have always raced this view are of the same thought.

You just go with what your used to,but winning in this view [especially after you have pulled off a few BR's to get the win ] well, that has a satisfaction bonus only known to those that race this way.

Getting ZONE ZEUS [not yet but very, very close] will be BLISS

    @djKyoto:
I essentially like the view when jumping onto the bridge at very high speeds
esp. when all the speed-pads kicks in. At very high speeds, at about zone
100+, those pads really accelerate your craft with a *massive* force. You can
even feel it due to the very strong vibration of the controller. Awesome! The
force is so strong that an inner voice may tell you that you shouldn't be here
after all. Because it feels kinda dangerous! xD

Zone 90? Eh? Forget about zone 90. Zone 100 should be your goal!

Ever tried cockpit view Problem Solver ?

It gets SO real that you find yourself ducking[Psychically] if you get too close to hitting the "Thing/Edifice" that hangs over the end of the bridge if you get very close.

    Quite a experience.

    Did.

Sometimes I switch between them (between far- and "cockpit"-view) during
a run. I like when the whole screen is moving. But there are some great
moments unique to far-view as well, for example, the two turns on Metropia
before the mag. stripe at zone 50+ are, in my view, the best combinations
    of all forward tracks;
    http://wipeoutzone.com/forum/showpos...0&postcount=26

I tell you what. I'm going to believe that cockpit-view might be better than
far-view (in the end). Why? Well, the game runs a lot smoother in
cockpit-view. There is virtually no shuttering at all! And these additional
frames make up for a difference at very high speeds. However, I don't
know just yet whether it pays off or not.
Here is a little story; About a year ago I was participating in the european
GT academy. After doing my best lap in cockpit-view, after countless of
days, I switched over to bumper-view (= cockpit-view in WOHD). Hell
what? I was racing about 0.3s faster just because the game (GT5P) runs
about 5-7fps smoother in bumper-view! Those additional frame gave me
more control during cornering. Well, I get the feeling that the same holds
true for WipEout HD ZONE. Metropia, Moa, ... they all run a lot smoother in
cockpit-view. But keep it as a secret! Ohhh.... xD

But don't get me wrong guys, there is also a strong advantage using
far-view, which I will tell about in another thread any time soon.

I can fully agree for moa especially when the zone changes, I often mess up when I go to zen just because of a stupid lag !

I could finally have my video online, after countless tries on youtube.

    you'll find it here : http://tinyvid.tv/show/1rnblmuausahl

for those who have a little internet connection there's a link to dl the video (ogg theora codec).

sorry for the shitty super zen/subsonic :/

Whoa, Moa looks awesome in Supersonic, even in standard definition... shame I'll never get to see it in 1080p (unless OnLive and similar services become available here). Great choice of music too, Sh1kamaru!

I played it full HD and yes it kicks ass too bad I can't take 720p videos at least, this seems so dirty

thanks for the music, I had to restrain myself from singing on the video cause I usually do but from time to time you can hear my son making strange noise lol, sorry for this

    @sh1kamaru-:
Good run in the end, but I thing you can do better. You said that you didn't
expect to go near that high, so your run (as well as the recording) were
already influenced right from the start such that I cannot really judge the
situation. Would be better to record a hot run. But one thing is clear, your
run is quite unstable (even if I subtract SUPER ZEN and SUBSONIC). Try not
to use the airbrakes too often -- by making a better predictions of where the
craft goes next. In general, every *unnecessary* steering input may lead to
an instability and a wall hit in the process. But 'unnecessary' depends on the
quality of your a-priori prediction. But let me tell you, every prediction
will fail at a given point, i.e. if the rate of change of position becomes too
large, fast reflexes and similar stuff already assumed.

You're right and there's also a reason you get the feeling it's unstable : I really hate the triggers on the DS3, that's why I use L1/R1 for airbraking, with 100% sensitivity, so it's everything or nothing, I somehow got used to it, but it leads to something not very smooth, that's why I messed up several times on the first corner, I just didn't release the right airbrake enough, fearing banging the external wall, while a progressive turn would have been far better...

I think I'll make some attempts once I get my new controller I think I can go for your current score, clearing more than 85 zones will be really hard, though I think it's possible to go to the 90s, given that I almost did a perfect lap on supersonic (z78/79), it's a matter of self-control, not being disturbed by external things and... luck ! you're totally right when you say that at a given point predictions will fail, an important thing is also the time you can stay fully concentrated. I always made a silly mistake just after having done a perfect lap on subsonic/mach1, just because I said myself, "phew, this lap's done, let's do anoth... BANG...er one !" I should try pausing the game after z40 and z60, I don't think I'm able to stay cool for 14-15 minutes.
