Are the campaigns now bigger, to include formerly-DLC stuff, or have some races been changed to use the new tracks instead of the old ones?

Can't wait for this game to reach the US (where DLC was never available) and Japan (where Pulse itself was never sold)!

    Question

I was wondering whether it had a LAN link-up mode, like the old games? That would be really cool, as we could play it through Xlink Kai with the DLC ships!
Also, isn't the PS2 a little harder to hack than a PSP? So the game wouldn't be ruined by cheats, as I understand Pulse PSP was (I wasn't around when it came out, got the game in March this year, by which time there weren't many cheaters online (or anybody else!).

I would think you are right that Pulse PS2 should be be harder to cheat. To avoid any controversy, there is no reason why somebody shouldn`t have "standard" hardware and I hope that the dreaded "Jaytech" doesn`t work on it either. I guess PS2 Pulse has no online functionality so we will need to keep our own records for comparing times as there will probably be nothing official.

Rob, in this case (if you read this) I think we could get some great competition going on WipeoutZone with this game if we had tables for it, because a Wipeout Zone honour system would be the best way of comparing times I think.

SO - let me get this straight - supposed to be worth buying Pulse for the PS2 for its free DLC? WTF? Thats a cop out - I don't think this game should sell for more than 10 British Pounds... They are fooling us with this release - they really are...

I bet you all have pulse on the PSP and are now wanting to get pulse again for the PS2 just because it has free DLC... I don't get it. Am I missing something here? They're still making you pay twice for what is essentially still the same game,+ Campaign mode is a suck off! SO what if they have DLC tracks thrown into campaing mode - it don't justify the release... it just don't sorry...

What they could done was combine the best elements of both PSP titles (pure and Pulse) and release this with all DLC thrown in - that woulda been a surefire hit (coulda even called it Wipeout Pace or Perfection)...

It just dojn't make any sense to me... no sense at all why they have done this!

Well, some people don't like playing on handhelds, I guess (I do though). That's who the release is for (although it's very late). Also, it could end all the OFW/ CFW crap surrounding the PSP version.
I agree that it's maybe not worth the money if you already own Pulse PSP, but if it has LAN multiplayer and is cheat-proof (or at least much harder to cheat on), I'll still buy it - imagine Icaras or Auricom online!!! And record tables that don't have 1 second lap times on them!

this all comes down to personal taste, i like having wipeout on psp so i can play it when i travel/go away, but playing wipeout on a big screen at home is my prefered set-up.

i love the fact we all get the chance to have another full screen wipeout. and as much as i would like pure too, pulse will look better pumped up to big screen as it hard smoother graphics already...so they made a good call with that.

i will be buying it on ps2, even though i already have it on psp and bought all the DLC...but don't really care too much as i said above, big screen, split screen, dlc filled wipeout is gonna be great

a lot of people here will want a copy for tournaments and meet-ups from what others have said too. so it's all good.

All very good points guys.... You know what I'm really screwing about is the fact that they coulda put some Pure in to the mix. And though I don't think its gonna do well as a release, I think I may find myself buying one anyway... I'll probably be trying to stay away from buying it coz it makes no sense having the same game twice... but the part of my brain which is responsible for many unjustified decisions - will no doubt ensure it!

You know, sometimes I really hate myself!

as far as i know it's not got online play, but instead has local split-screen play.

which is bad for a lot of the pulse fans still playing, as online is what seems to keep people playing the game, but good for any meet-ups of zoners or just chilling with friends.

Still, even via Xlink, it's not yet confirmed that the game supports LAN, is it? As it has split screen multiplayer included, I somehow doubt there will be a LAN option

    important questions :

    1) negcon?

    2) link?

    3) pitch foward equals speed boost?

    4) Does it run at a better framerate than psp?

    5) Does it look better than psp when it goes through component?

I bet it would look pretty good on a old ps3 with the upscale on

I will be happy to have it any way on the ps2. This is a game noone expected, and just an extra way to play.

I am *completely* shocked that this was actually released.

SCEA can't see fit to release fully completed DLC for Pulse PSP via PSN yet SCEE has produced a new version of a commercially failed game on a dying console?

NOT that I am complaining but this seems against all odds from a business perspective. Ah well

So how many North Americans will be importing a PAL PS2 to play this?

I share your view completely. Page before this I'm ballistic...

erm, Apparently, Pulse went platinum! and from what I understand, only the best selling titles go Platinum... Who cooked up the findings and made Pulse go Plat? the guy deserves a slap to the head. I went into Game over Easter and asked some question to a staff member about WipeoutHD - the guy didn't know what Wipeout was, awareness just aint there... I smell a rat... a very dead one!

    Hi,

the game is published yesterday in Spain!!!

I can't say how good is this game, the achievement from Studio Liverpool in the Ps2 is outstanding for this game.

I don't have the Psp version and i can't compare with it, i don't like
portátils, i prefer play in a big screen, but i have the Wipeout HD
in the Ps3 playing it a lot, and all i can say about this Wipeout Pulse in Ps2 is:

    DON'T MISS IT!!!

Graphically is stilysh, sólid, clear backgrounds, colourful, running fast and
    smooth.
I have a big Panasonic CRT tv of 32" connected with a component cable and
    visually is just incredible.

Off course i'm playing in the video mode of 60hz, yes! includes selector
of 60hz, and also the option of 16:9 for panorámic tv's/panels. Yeah!!

The principal mode is the Race Campaign, and in the mode Racebox, there's
up to 7 different events you can customize individually:

    - Single Race
    - Head to Head
    - Time Trial
    - Speed Lap
    - Tournament
    - Zone
    - Eliminator

In this modes and from the first time you can use all the ships including the extra ships from the extra
downloadable content for Psp, at this moment only 3 circuits availables.

I don't know why, but i like more all the circuits in this version, than the circuits in the Wipeout HD of Ps3.
Off course a few circuits are the same of the Wipeout HD and in the Psp version, but i like too much how
    looks in the Ps2 version.

For the audio, exist 16 audio tracks, which you can disable individually, and hear all the tracks in a sequential,
    or random way.

For the bad points, loading times are large, but i think is normal, if you have
a hard disk, install on it, and off course you have reduced loading times and
    the game runs more smooth.
I tested the game in the Ps3 and seems works well, is compatible.

For playing two guys at the same time, you can choose split screen
vertical or horizontal, but in this mode i noticed a lot of slodowns of the
    framerate.

The replays are so just fantastic, you can check the graphics in backgrounds
and ships nicely, with detail running fast.

The spanish version, is a multi 5 language, i think all the european versions
    are the same disc.

The text languages are: english, spanish, french, german, and italian.

You can check real photos of the case, manual, and disc here:

    Enjoy Wipeout!!!
