Where in the South-east would that be? I got nothin'. Just lousy sunshine. Barely a cloud in the sky. Don't get me wrong, I like sunshine in winter. It's fresh and clear. But it doesn't warm things up much, and when it snows it's generally not that cold anyway. So I'd rather have some snow.
Although, it would be chaos in London tomorrow if it snowed on top of the tube strike.

first day since Wednesday where it hasn't rained. Has been a while since it rained that persistently*... and now it's just sort of cold, with a bit of moisture on the ground. gay
*Australia is dry as ****
p.s. I'm rather glad we never get snow below the mountains :)

It's nasty. Last week snow was falling all the time, and now it's raining. When you're going outsite, there is slash all over. I have to go to work today. My trousers are wet up to the knees, although I had taken an umbrella. brrrr.....

Well, over here it is the crappy period between Fall and Winter, where the temperature is below freezing, strong winds and cold wind chill, but no snow.

7th December 2010, 09:26 PM
here it's +2 in the day and -5 at night (centigrade) which means that with all the snow we've been having it's all brown slush in the day and murderous ice patches at night... I want to move away from here :(

Is it at least nice there in summertime?
Oryx Crake
7th December 2010, 10:53 PM
@renn well yes it's nice so long as the rains stay away but 6 months of grey skies and 3 of sleet and ice kinda makes up for that in a bad way

From where I live, it's all rain and no snow. However, my parents mentioned that there was snow in two municipialities in PR, seeing as how they are below 50 degrees :eek.

New experience of the day - walking barefoot in the snow. I think I finally found something that actually wakes me up.:g It feels food too, for about 5 seconds, after which you can't feel anything anymore. Fun though.:nod

It's just the 26C min. 33C max. typical day in Singapore, with no seasons what so ever(Summer all year round IF you want to have seasons) other than the wet season and dry season, which are NOT counted as seasons.
Wish I could go swimming, but because I want a slight tan...

Well F.E.I.S.A.R., here its the complete opposite of what you got in Singapore!
We already have accumulated 3 feet of snow in total, since 2 weeks. We had 3 snowstorms and an episode of freezing rain. The temperature dropped down as low as -20°C for now, we didn't got wind factor implicated. When it happens, we got down as low as -35°C normally.
Ever wonder if Hell could freeze up? Well here it freaking does! :D

OMG, Saturn's turning Canadian! Oh wait, all the nordic coutnries do that too...LOL!
We haven't gotten colder than -30 Celsius here yet, which is odd. Got a good dumping of snow several times, but just haven't cracked that -40 barrier yet. Thank goodness!!

Uurgh, last few days it's been so cold here I've had to break out my Soviet Navy felt and rabbit fur hat. I really need a grey beard to go with it before I can say 'One Ping Only' with any resemblance of authority though ;)

In the lower part of Bavaria, where I reside now, it were raining most of the day. Now, the rain turned into ice, and then glazed with a decent snow cover. As long as one stays at home, everything is fine. ;)

We've got white Christmas in Nürnberg. About -5°C and falling snow since yesterday afternoon. Meanwhile, I hate this f***ing snow because we've got so much of it this year! I have enough of caotic streets and digging my car out of this sh** every time!

I'll gladly take some of that snow off of your hands. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the past two days have been stinking hot down here in Perth. 38-40°C and humid. The backyard pool and the aircon got a through workout, but.

There has been major flooding in both North & South/East Australia over the last few months.
But the BIG HIT is going to be tonight [around midnight, 4 hours from this post] when a category 5 cyclone hits Queensland.

Awww you guys cannot catch a break. I really feel for everybody down under, since it's really really under this year. :(
It was a really wet year here last year, rivers were flooding before winter even began, so everyone is preparing for flooding in spring. Even so, it will be nothing compared to the sort of floods you Aussies are seeing lately.
Right now, it's warmed up to about -20 Celsius, and I'm sweating, because it's been about -40 with the wind chill for the last week? or so...I don't remember anymore :cold Anyway, I'll take the nasty cold since I can handle it. I couldn't handle natural disasters, that seems to be the trade-off for Manitobans - if you don't live on a riverbank and can avoid a tornado or two a year, all you have to deal with is disgustingly cold, long, frigid, dark winters. It's not so bad. ;)

Have a look at this BBC news item that shows just how big this cyclone is.
It would engulf the entire UK.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12347702
Also the comparison of Cyclone Yasi and Cyclone Katrina that hit the USA, pretty much identical.
Thankfully there has been no reported fatalities, but it has wiped out the entire Australian Banana crop and most of the sugar cane crop.
Last cyclone that did this a few years ago bananas went up to $22 a kilo.
It's been so hot & humid in Sydney over the last few days, it's very hard to sleep at night.
Currently 36 C and 46% relative humidity with no wind, and I live very near the beach, it's even worst 20-30km inland, believe me it's horrible.
Just walking from one room to another will cause people to have sweat just pouring down their faces, and your clothes are just saturated and stuck to you.
Please rain a bit.

Well, this week the province where I live, Manitoba, has declared a provincial state of emergency due to flooding. Not only the major rivers (the Assiniboine and the Red) are flooding at near-record heights, but also huge sections of farmland and every little creek and stream have flooded. Luckily right where I live, homes for the large part are safe. Many towns have been flooded, sewer backups through entire communities...and so on.
A city east of me, Brandon, is declaring this "a 300 year flood".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRIM-_bakkE (TransCda Highway threatened)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tk0LEQAApVo (driving around Brandon)
So far their dikes are holding, but it is pouring rain today, and there will be minimum 60 km/hr winds tonight. Rain is forecasted for the entire week here. I think many of those who had sandbagged their homes are doomed, sorry to say.
The largest city, Winnipeg, has not even had the crest reach them. Decades ago they built a floodway to protect them from floods such as this, but...one month ago the floodway was already at capacity.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2FDmwPr7_w
There has been so many wet summers here recently that this year will definitely put the end to many family farming operations. Only large farming corporations can keep running their operations after this. Needless to say, this will be hurting the economy bigtime.
