Last night was so special : i started mostly tchating with 2 old good french friends i didn't spoke for a long time. One of them was Livitarium, also living in Normandie but we never met eachothers ( will be done soon ;) ). It was late midnight ( i woke up this morning at 8.00 :robot ) close to go to bed when Livi suggested me a little kai session : the unique possibilitie to play Livi is 1 vs 1 with strictly no other people even simply lurking the pure arena otherwise livi's ship becomes unvisible.
So we played few tours , livi with his zone ship and me with usual Ag Sys : what a blast ( no elimination tho), amazing moment of fight and speed for instance an intense vineta K finishing the race with 1.50.00 both of us. :p Make notes that Livi tied with me on Classique1 and Delta :rock


the other night was also great playing Soxy & Borell : i want MORE !!!


Btw kai friday session is reported to thursday evening for Dag , so if you want to kick his arse and mine ( if you catch me :p) feel free to join us tomorrow.
Ill be there for a friday session around midnight too ( this is for Romano : unique day of playing kai for him is friday around midnight CET )

We were 5 at the peak of the night : Sle, RR, Sox, 513 and me doing an ascension , it was a bit laggy but funny to be fighting together. We played multiple tours at 4 and 3 pilots , leaving the board around 2 am.

Just came to my mind: This coming friday is the last one before Pulse release. Apparently many of folks are going to invest their precious time for Pulse in coming months so I thought it would be nice to have some kind of (not-necessarily-)bye-bye-party with lot's of pilots of different teams and nationalities on grid this time to celebrate the wipeout game which (sort of) started the online revolution in anti-gravity racing.

So if you can make it, drop few lines here. It might encourage others also to join. If you have something better to do... well, we'll notice it anyway. :)

We just finished the 2007 celebrating Kai last session, one hour ago.
Awesome night roughly 6 hours of presence into that great KAi's world where we had so many intense fights with many ships blew up.

The scotish team (RR and stin), sox (the flying rookie), lunar who made a great come back, vic (free french flyer), rom our italian friend, asa and me are here for a last fight.
What a good time we spent together.

Still have the dongle, but not the drivers, and the company who made it is dead, so it's a no deal for me.

EDIT: also, they seem to have changed it up a bit. You'll want to enter the wipeout room under /Arena/PSP-Japan-Korea-China, I could not find a wipeout arena in the normal PSP arena (I think they changed the name of the old psp arena to PSP-Japan-Korea-China and made a new PSP arena that tries to group games by genre...but fails to be effective as they have left some out.)

I forgot how glitchy kai was :p That is essentially what has prevented me from getting it to work. Ever. Kept following the guides and all, but no, it would never work. Strange considering the PSP Wifi Max is the recommended device to use with Kai for PSP... :/ Long story short, I tried about ten times for a few months, and then forgot about it. The ****ing program never worked. Sure it installed all right. It even said the network was reachable. But try to join a room and chaos ensues...

Well that was a fun time - very nostalgic :)

Oh yes , it was a PURE pleasure to meet with Dag my fellow old Xlink Kai-ers.

That has started pretty badly for me : my DWL is no more compatable with the new Windows XP3 ( it's not the only one peripherial i got suffering from that new sp3 ...)
So i needed to use wifi Max dongle and change the set up from infrastructure to ad hoc but my driver was outdated, RR gave me who almost worked but not :( , eventually found the right one and everything did worked like a charm.
We played with Romano , RR, Sox and Ben.

The beginning was a bit difficult ( time to adjust lines and feel Pure better) but after a few moments it was like yesterday.
I even beat records but to tell you the truth i was using CFW ( ohhhh that is bad asa !!! ) i know , i know , but here's my excuses :D : thursday RR asked me about that kai friday session i said why not but i ll have to find a new euro Pal ( mine was left at Al's place), friday afternoon looking for a euro umd : 4 game shops : no games ! i went to Dag's place and dumped his own umd to put it through my 2nd psp.
At the beginning i played at default settings then in the middle of the session i switched to 333, just to realize if difference there was ...
Ask RR you ll have your answer ! he was stunned ...and me too !!

Next week i promise to find a true umd guys for the come back of our historical friday Kai sessions!

Btw Xavier, we shall talk about your wifimax problem through msn, maybe i can help?

I also dumped my PurE NTSC UMD onto my memory stick and man does it run ever so faster. The loadings are awesome. :g I don't have PAL PurE though so if you guys play with PAL I won't be able to play with you if we ever get my Kai going.

Yes we really enjoyed that night : Sox joined us racing through almost every tours, Dag was competitive and Sox fast too, i acted like a killer last night on few tracks ( favorite weapon : the back-plasma :eek ) , Dag and I perpetrate heavy weapons toasts ( sandwich/burger/tacos....insert what you choose) to Sox , most of the time he survived tho ;)
Sox as a very creative pilot invented the Ubermall arena with elimination mode ( flash speed and zone ship) , elimination we knew it very well before but he added a sweet variation to this : by choosing ubermall with its split we stayed on that section where 2 boostpads are ( one on the left split , the other on the right ) and we turned around eachothers in that mini arena track : that was purely funny!

We also had the visit of Tomatojoe aka Tom : no time to play for him ( busy hunting monsters , right ;) ) but a good moment spending on talking with Sox, Dag & I.

We have thought about doing a Kai Revival session, hopefully with 2 groups of 4 pilots : promotion and degradation system

The date could be weekend of the 14th to 16th ( august) ( from thursday night to saturday night : choose the day you prefer)

I hope that you can make it possible, my Old-Kai-Opponents

Soooo, me Sox and Asa on Kai last night. It looks like all the bad Karma I built up back in the Kai glory days by hunting other players and blowing em up came back to bite me in the ass as I must have been killed about 7 times maybe more over the 6 tours we had!! lol. I blame Pulse, its soft and sissy like compared to Pure and has weakened my resolve with all its lets give you half your energy back with every weapon you absorb tripe!

Still managed to pull 2 joint firsts out the hat though :g

I should be on later tonight for more Pure or some Sissy Pulse whichever.

We decided to race without tip with 3 different ships ( Sox in Harimau :rolleyes:, RR in Assegai and me in flying Feisar :) ) 1st race of Alpha , shield critical end of lap1, finishing last 10 sec difference with the leader... i said holly S**** i am gonna spend a terrible night but surprising that was completely the opposite: i only got eliminated 1 time on 6 tours. Actually since Feisar got a poor acceleration i was always last after the starting and watched in 1st row the amazing battle Sox and RR had, so plenty of time i was passing them with no real shield damage ( they were swallowing every weapons to survive so i took advantage of that)
Sinuccit and PK i finished the race alone... lack of opponents ( where did they gone? :g )
Here's result of the 6 tours we had ( correct me if i am wrong guys): i finished 1st on alpha, beta and classique1, i tied gamma with RR, a tie with Sox in Delta and solid last ( bronze !!! :beer ) in Classique2.

I really enjoyed that night and can't wait to play another session tonight.

Assuming you've got your PSP and your copy of WipEout Pure ready to go, you'll also need your pc to be connected to the internet via ethernet cable, a wifi card (or usb dongle) with promisc mode (such as the old wifimax) and you need the X-Link Kai tunnel software installed on your pc. There's a whole thread somewhere in the Pure section of the forum dedicated to help people go online with pure and X-Link Kai, but I can't find it right now and gave up searching the forums for now cause I have to wait 30 sec after every keyword search I did.... :|

And you can always check out the teamxlink website borell gave here in this thread a page earlier (post number 1107) for more information on X-Link Kai...

Just put in my Pure UMD again yesterday to play a descension tour. Dammit that handling is ace. Looks like it's not alone the tracks in Pulse I have problems with, but the handling as well. Pure feels a lot more natural to me; the handling just works without being too über-sensitive.

Seriously: This time I would have placed my Laptop directly next to my router (yep, that cable is not much longer than one meter) and I would have sit down on the floor to play a few laps with you, but – damn it – my connection gets PPPoE errors for four days now and I'm not willing to pay the hotline (of course, they take their time for e-mail contact).

I'm online via my neighbor's WLAN connection at the moment and guess what: That won't allow any playing via KAI :(

You may take a look in the various threads helping to eliminate connection problems. :)

Important: Your computer has to be connected to the internet via LAN, not via WLAN, as the WLAN connection is used for the PSP connection.

Imagine those Saturn Return and Apollo crafts running on vista, i wouldnt want to be near the Launch pad when they start up, or anywhere near that state. It also might explain why man hasnt gone to the moon in so many years now, probably during every space flight simulation there computers at NASA have blue screened or something, so its way to risky to go to the moon for any human, since you cant do an automatic update from that distance, plus if you could then it'll probably make the problem worse at hand.

I disagree; my experience has been pretty much completely different from yours. The only one I had problems with was 98SE, and that turned out to be because of the adware/spyware program Gain/Gator and one of its affiliates. When I finally [I was still new to online] discovered what it was and eradicated that sort of problem, then reinstalled the operating system, I had no more trouble. Of course, by that time, I no longer used Internet Explorer either. :D

I had connection problems to KAI, either. It worked in the past with no problems. Internet via LAN cable to MacBook, MacBook via WLAN connected to the PSP.

But for some reason KAI cannot find the PSP. And before anyone asks: Yes, the WLAN cards used in MacBooks and – if I'm not mistaken – any other more or less current Mac works with KAI like a charm normally.

I have ab-so-lut-e-ly no clue why it isn't working. I was using KAID Commander with Amaryllis in the past, but read it isn't up to date anymore. So I downloaded the browser-interface based KAI version, but no success, either :(

Anybody using a Mac as well for conneting to KAI?

@ Sausehuhn - have you made sure that the network card in your computer allows Promiscuous Mode? To see if it does, check out the quick guide posted at the Team Xlink forums here (http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31389&sid=9c42e2e4a39a9012792702508dce8e59). It all starts with Promiscuous Mode. Without it, you will have zero possibility of running Xlink Kai.

@ KIGO - another alternative to the Wifi Max is the Mayflash Wifi Link (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-bh-49-en-70-1g1l.html) which is what I use. The Wifi Max ended up in the bin, as it was not friendly with my system AT ALL!

The test was successful, so I'm now available for races on Kai. It runs pretty smooth, I could see Tomahawk's ship without lag (unlike Pulse infrastructure mode on the PSN) and it's so much more fun than racing the AI ships.

edit: seems to be connecting alright, in the arena and PSP recognized. Bring it on.... always available for races at Flash or lower speeds as anything more is bad for my health. ;)

Ah, I thought it would be Kai problems. It took me ages to get it working, and to be honest, I'm not sure why it works now and didn't before. :D
I can't help with running the Kai app on Windows (I'm a Linux user, and use a browser-based GUI for Kai), but you must:
- PSP adhoc channel set to 1 in the XMB Network Settings
- port forward 30000 (udp) on your router (also entering your PC's local IP, e.g. 192.168.1.5, which should be static)
- connect your PSP to your PC with a dongle or a wireless card (I use a wireless card on my laptop, but I don't know how to do that in Windows). I should mention that people have trouble doing this with Vista (and probably 7 too).

If you can get to the Pure arena on Kai and in "Metrics" it says "Reachable: Yes" and your PSP appears under "Found consoles", it should be working. ;)

We're using X-Link Kai.
