wow, the wipeout pure channel on kai was busy today
there were probably more than 9 ppl goin in and out of the channel !

got to play a few games today and even tho the connection starts to lag with more than 3, it was all good fun, playing with so many ppl.

btw, did anyone pick up a quake on that map? cos i doubt anyone blew up. heh!

WE made our record !!! like Kandang said we were 7 players racing on Vineta!!! and also on a funny all feisar ship vector Shitta Nuova.!!! :dizzy
Vineta rapier was clearly unplayable 5 fps !! but Shitta was pretty clear : i missed my start to see all the name passing me on the 1st line : that was just brilliant watching them all !

We could have broken our own record when Vic came but sadly no luck for him to join us ... the 8th position into the gridline was missing :(

Kai is busy those past days and that keeps me addicting more to that game :D

this is so frustrating...
my mac which used to be bulletproof reliable for getting on kai has decided it doesn't like the changes that were made to the networking in my flat, so that doesn't wanna work anymore.
and my laptop, which has a compatible wireless card, can see the ssid, automagically join the relevant ad-hoc wlan, get on kai ok, say "network reachable: yes" but can't detect my psp's mac address :(
I really don't know what else to try :frown:

Last night it was so-so
When racing with only people with visible ship that's brilliant like Kai always need to be, unfortunately it's not like this everytime.

All owners ( list is long among my friends)of an Orange wifi Livebox ( sagem or inventel ) get the invisible ship bug if there's more than 3 people into Wipeout kai arena ( even without playing). The most annoying thing is : they can see us into a race like usual ( means no pb with their Dl bandwich) so their missile easily locked on us or firing rockets, but We can't do the same cause they are invisible ( actually we see their ships staying on the starting line during 5 laps without moving and very often we hit their 'solid body' when passing the line: no effects for them into their race but time lost by us ( the visible ship)).

Maxx doesn't have an orange livebox but his ship is 50% visible, it depends on the traffic he has into his sharred connection at home.

Cat ( NZ-Lion) was playable before he changed from provider , now it's a disaster : 95% invisible :(

For those who experimented the 333 upgrade that's unplayable with people running their psp at 222 ( like Kekken did recently).

So as you can see it doesn't depend uniquely on the Ping you can watch into Kai status : best example is Sleh my mate who is living next to my house ( 300 meters) he has got a good ping ( around 50 ms ) but can't be visible ( shitty livebox owner); Dmc Ben who is living across the pound got between 130 to 180 ms and he is visible 100%

yay it works again for me :)
with just the 2 of us in game I was fine playing against q_dmc12, but in larger games everyone stayed on the start line in my view.

the bandwith I previously had available was 2M/2M, but now I only have 3.5M/128K
which is terrible for kai.

after spending half a day trying to get kai working on my laptop it now looks like the kai forums were WRONG in saying that the card is supported.
so I went back to trying to get it working on my mac... deleted EVERYTHING and started over from scratch, and now it works again :)
oh, for mac users: Amaryllis never shows your psp. it can be working flawlessly but amaryllis will still show 0 sony, and the consoles list will be empty.
if I run a windows GUI and attach to kaid on my mac then the windows client is aware of the PSP... so that was my diagnostics mode :P

Oh, god, two sick Kai sessions in a row. Last night, it was, Mr.X, Rapier Racer, Q_DMC and Sausehuhn and tonight, it was royal rumble, with Asa, Dag, Vic, another player there (sorrry, I forgot) and Mr.X. Just 3 connections meant practically no lag, which for a fight of 6 persons was Pure awesomeness. :hyper
We played only on Venom speed to accomodate newer players, but the games turned up so much more exciting than I thought they would. :clap
The slow pace would probably bore some Phantom TT addicts, but with 6 players it was a great chance to have some shooting fun and learn general combat strategies (in that aspect, Asa is freaking Sun Tzu - first softening me with misilles, overtaking me, then instead of trying to extend his lead, driving just infront of me, snatching all the items, making sure I get no energy refill, then, finally finding the item he needs, letting me pass and shoot me in the back for the kill. :o
It would have taken me years to notice such finesse on Phantom, but here it was much clearer. Top stuff!.. which also came in handy later. http://www.konzole-slovenija.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_fiufiu.gif)
Oh, and then the sick Descension tourney. If only I had the PSP2TV, I'd record it and accelerate the video to make it look phantom speed, then watch it every morning to start the day well. Unbeliveable.

After an one week WZ & Kai break due to personnal reasons it was a pleasure to visit, Dag & me, Vic and his Bro' POI in Evreux ( 120 kms from Le havre ) we started a session at 4 and eventually connected to kai and met Kekken & MrX for a truly amazing fight.

My poor AG suffered a lot at the end of that Descension Chaos !

Brilliant slovenian win with KKN Goldmember:beer and Mrx for the silver one.
I had bronze, vic 4th , Dag 5th and Poi last but he has discovered wipeout only last night

the slovenian team was very fast and particullary aggressive with the poor asa's ag system (:bomb ).
in venom, the fight is the key of the success : i was many times in energy critical, due to the bombs, mines, plasmas....it was difficult to have some time records in such a battle field !!!

one thing about Asa`s strategy is that where there is a choice of speed pad or weapon pad, because of their alignment, he almost always takes the weapon pad. As Kekken says, this is defensive as well as offensive: don`t let the chasing ship tool up to shoot you. How many times on Vineta K have I pursued him down the main straight, he goes left for the weapon pad, picks up and switches it off briefly, so I go right for the boost pad, overtake and BOOM.

He hits more weapon pads than most people, basically, and the other trick Asa uses is to always recycle weapons quickly. If you don`t have an opportunity to blast someone in the next few seconds, absorb. Use turbos at the first opportunity where it won`t be suicidal. Even if there is a much better turbo place coming up, before you get there you will pick up more weapons which you can use to your advantage, and which you wouldn`t have got had you held the turbo. It puts distance between you and the other ships and reduces the risk of getting shot, and often you will even pick up another turbo en route. Missiles and quakes can tempt you into holding them for a long time, but the only exceptions to the quick recycling rule are race-winning auto pilots like on Sebenco Peak, safety quakes and turbos on the last lap of a race when you are winning, and desperate bomb strategies such as at the final jump on Sinucit, where you can cause someone ahead of you to lose up to 6 or 7 seconds on the next lap, if you place it right.

Woah. Brutal races today. The first batch was fun but sadly compromised by substantial lag. After some tourneys with poor Sausehuhn suffering lag, bombs, plague and kitchen sinks, I was left alone in a cage of scary monsters. :paperbag
Lunar, Asa and RRacer played at such a high pace that it'll simply force me to pickup TT/free race and train to get better - something I've not really planned to do, but it's becoming inevitable with such flying ninjas. :robot

I did my best but something ugly always happened, and the most I've seen after four laps was RRacer's trail. :cold
Better times came for me on the last Delta tour though. It was a Fat-fest with my Tigron, two Triakis (what's the plural of that?!? Triaki?!?) and Lunar with "just" a 4-shield Goteki. I thought to myself "teehe, weak ship.. it's gonna explode". More in joke than not. After some really tight races I was still last, but statistics prevailed and it actually happened - poor Lunar exploded, giving me the bronze. :beer

Ahaha, yesterday was a blast. Literally. :bomb

Asa and Mr.X went nuts with backward quakes and noone was safe. It culminated in Manor Top, with a cont-cont-cont-ender-ender-ender-elimi-elimi-elimi-nated-nated-nated :bomb :bomb :bomb and Asa going TT for the reminder of the race.

The unofficial team Goteki vs team Triakis was also mad fun, altough I was there more to distract the fat bastards while Lunar raced for the win. :banzai

All in all really cool, altough next time with 6-8 maybe we could try to form two "qualification" groups from the start, then the best two/three of each group racing in a "final tourney", while the others duke it out in the parallel tour for 4-6/5-8 places.

For tomorrow (thursday) I'll probably be at Mr.X's place and Asa will probably host players too, so it will hopefully mean massive carnage with little lag. :hyper

Fantastic team event on kai last night. The line up was mrx and asa representing Triakis, kkn and spk representing Goteki45, and dag racing as a lone wolf in Assegai. Our first classic 2 tour was developing nicely when we sadly lost connection, but then we resumed with a Gamma. Goteki claimed an historic victory here, with kkn taking the individual tour gold medal - excellent work, sir.:beer

But Triakis fought back powerfully, with a pincer movement on green classic: Asa going into droid mode, showing his unbelievable talent, and taking off for race wins, and the individual tour prize. Meanwhile Mrx was pinning the Gotekis down, and keeping their shields critical, in a storm of weapon fire! Spk was even forced to "pad park", or face elimination, on a mad Karbonis battle.

Congratulations to everyone....... hope to see you tonight. :) Armed with a roll of cable and a usb booster, I am hoping to find a network solution for the lag I keep getting. ;)

We played at 3/4/5/6 even 7 and been for the 1st time 8 !!! yeah 8 on a Single Race!!

KAi has got a great activity these past weeks ( from 5 to 12 players ) so we decided to make things a little bit more organized.

After talking with everyone here's the first brick how to proceed if we are more than 5 players in Kai's arena :


The main thing is to divide people to get a game playable without lag
Get a quick SR ( choosen people from alphabetical order) to know who will be on 1st group & 2nd one
First league = Phantom speed ; 2nd league = Rapier ; 3rd one ( if more than 10 players)= Flash
System of promotion & relegation between the divisions after each tournament
Same tournament started for each group
New arrivals gonna wait till the tour is ending and will enter the last group.
if we are odd number : 1 promotion / 1 relegation if it's uneven number the more numerous group will get a 2 promotions or relegations and the lowest only 1Comments are wellcome

Great session last night with Asa (who flew an unbelievably fast CL2 in AGS), Rapier Racer (who should change his name to Phantom Racer now), Vic, Poi, and Locopol at the end. Shame you missed the Alpha flash eliminator Asa, it was a blast, literally. Don`t ask Vic what Poi did to him, but I think the word is "fratricide". yeah really great time spent last night with you all : i took my revenge from Phantom Racer ;) and be very very fast with my AGS (only 2 sec from my best triakis racetime for the 4 tracks :o )so no way for him to throw me a plasma like he did 2days ago on Vohl Square with a total destruction of my poor ship and he gets the win on the tour as a result :pirate

'Fratricide ' is punished by the Laws from WZ council of Kai Gentlemen :D But in the case of POI that seems fair to kick his bro' arse. Verdict ? Guilty but not responsible : accused POI racer, stand up please , the council has discharged you :D

Good example again last night when Ringospoon's connection dropped from our tour every 30 sec , or Rapier Racer's issue with his kai didn't want to attach to orbital server for 1 hour, or my bloody DWL definitely belongs to paranormal activity ( a question : where's Mulder & Scully when we need them :bat ) or psp frozen for no reason.

New add-on to the long existing list of weird bugs from Kai.
We all had that yesterday , our signal was moving up & down from DWL ( same for Tom with its wifiMax) which means we had several deconnexions while playing : for myself dwl was under 50% from time to time and had the psp 00.00.00.00 BSSID issue combinating with this low signal :( )
Which is weird we all had that bug at different moment of the night : Mu5, Tom, Vic , Stin & me

I tried to set up a Kai account but never received a confirmation mail and cannot login.

I was referring to the fact of not receiving my confirmation mail.
One of their help subforums has been locked since October supposedly for site maintenance.
I cannot even log into their web page using my XTag (that's with my computer's browser).

I never heard of this problem..... strange one. May be just a one-off glitch. In that situation I would just try again, and use another email address, or just create a Hotmail account and use it to register, with a different X-Tag. You only need the email address once for the confirmation, and it worked fine for me with Hotmail. Once you have registered succesfully you can log-in and change your X-Tag.

If you already tried that, and it didn`t work..... then consider me baffled...... :)

Now I just have to get the correct setup since I currently connect to my router wirelessly and I guess that won't work. :p

There are a couple of specific models of wireless routers that you can use to connect your psp directly to kai, without an ad hoc wireless adapter. It only works with specific versions of a couple of routers. There`s an FAQ about it on the xlink forums, but it involves router firmware flashing and possible bricking if you blow it. Lots of people have done it ok though.

Kai session yesterdaynight!!!!

For me it was my first kai experience and whihiii what a chaos it was, especially in the beginning. I had to warm up so much. The fights began to be closer and closer real superb. I think i met the best pilots there are of WipEout. I felt honoured to fight with you all.

My first session Rapier Racer kicked my arse all the way. Hereby i promote you to Phantom Racer!!! :bat

I was happy to see Steven Hunter, Mr. Sol2 lover aka NEO, CON, ASS, etc.
Some really weird word combinations showed up in the menu like: Waiting for MAD ASS, lol :D

MAX aka sausehuhn, also a very very strong pilot and a pain in the arse for asa, keep on bombing this guy :pirate

Charlie aka Hellfire, zone's guide and a very good pilot. We had some close fights too, thanks for that.

Of course DAG aka Antony, who was sitting right beside me during this session and the one who blew me up more then once :brickwall thanks for that DAG.

ASA: the crazy french guy where i am spending a few days now. We had some great moments. The first sessions i couldn't find you in the field? Later on you did ate more of my dust then you liked. :cowboy

Last but not least i was really looking forward to see Stephen aka Lunar, SPK, because we are so close in the timetables. It was exactly what i expected: very very close racing.

Anyway a brief KAI REPORT is needed to tell of the famous 123 Karnage race event last night. I can`t remember the details - enough to say that Rapier Racer had the best of the start, and spent the next few laps bombing and possibly backquaking us into destruction - eventually (on lap 4 I think) destroying SPK, then ASA and then MAD within a few seconds of each other. Triple elimination to win the tour on the last event - fantastic performance - and who says AGS can`t be a killer ship? Not us three victims anyway.:dizzy

Hey, played some kai last night and some single player games(single race), very bad news, I'm sure you know but haven't had the heart to admit. Complete bs. Barrell rolls not working when anyone is near on any lap. You need a good lead to get them, not to mention they still don't work every time. Don't tell me I'm not doing it right when I can do it on time trial by myself no problem. Not only does it not work, you slow down because it did not work!! Now this needs to be out of the next game. Don't give us a cool feature like this only for it to work half assed. Either this was programmed in(if it was I will be the first to call the person an grade a A-hole), or more likely there is too much going on on the screen at once or it is a bug. Either way, I'd like to know why exactly this bug occurs. Now if there were any more downloads, this serious error could be fixed, and should be the first thing to be fixed before adding anything else. There seems to be something really stupid in every wipeout game no matter how good the rest of the game is, and I don't mean minor errors. It's time to get it right next time.

wipeout xl running into invisible ships, brake tapping speeds you up(what!)
wipeout 3 turbo scrape on wall(stupid)
wipeout 64(gee, lets take out the time trial races, and not give any decent weapons to the person in first place)

wipeout pure. lets not listen about the floaty feel even though they were infuriated at fusion, they won't notice and if they do, screw them. Oh, and lets make this really cool feature only work some of the time.

I don't think you guys will be seeing me on kai,Unless time trial works better that is. this sort of bullshit infuriates me too much. Doing the move perfectly to get the turbo only to slow down instead. This is the sort of stuff that should be in mario kart.

sorry Al, but Barrel Rolls work normally in kai/multiplayer, in SR just as well as they do in TT. I`ve played probably over 60 hours on kai and never seen this bug happen. It`s only in single player single races that this barrel roll bug occurs, the same bug really doesn`t exist in multiplayer. I`m sure the other kai players will back me up on this point. Check out Arnaud`s videos if you don`t believe me - you`ll see all the ships in a pack barrel rolling madly all round the track, honestly. It`s possible your timing could have been affected by lag, but really I`ve never seen this, though I`ve seen it lots in single player races of course, and it is annoying there.

I was testing with 2 psp's putting one ship ahead of the other and trying it that way. I'll have to give it a go with other people. I did play single player most of my testing, and that was complete garbage, with barrell roll not working most of the time, even when I was leading. That is good to hear. I didn't play kai much and probably made a bad judgement based on a few runs, but last time I did on time trial, it wasn't working every time(not as bad as single player though). I'll give it another shot tonight hopefully someone is on. CAnt play for long though.

Maybe ( but honestly i don't think it is) SR kai is also affected by that buggy BR you mentionned but we are so rarely racing SR : less than 1% for my total playtime on Kai. The reason is simple we're enjoying much more tournaments cause we don't have to wait to host again after the end of the SR: doing SR and you simply have too much time wasted by connecting & loading.
So when we will be racing next time we ll choose a tour at mini 4 tracks in it. After spending time on few tours, you will be able to tell us if this happend or not ( doing BR or not).

But i think the possible explanation maybe there : i am convinced that downgraded psp affect the whole game when playing on kai.
Not only those who are getting at 333 their psp but also those who are choosing 222 or 266 ( those last 2 affect less the game but always have a slightly incidence on it) and from time to time the user of 1.5 experimenting himself bugs like screen moving strangly or not getting any weapons or even not doing BR.
I know you have a 1.5 psp that could come from that.

It's not possible that the occurrence of this bug is varied between the different versions of Pure is it? I've not experienced it on Kai but on single player against the AI it occasionally happens

haven't had the BR problem on SR/Tourney on kai and it does happen in single player alot. What i do is instead of pressing lrl / rlr on the d-pad slowly, i rock it back and forth (keep doing it quickly/furiously) n it works. :nod

I agree with you Asa about the firmwares. It all runs best when everyone is on official Sony firmware at the same CPU speed: either all players above or all below 3.0. In the early days of Pure on kai, when everyone had the same firmware, there was hardly any lag or weirdness at all.

I can`t make tomorrow night or saturday sessions unfortunately, you will have to find someone else for plasma target practice ;)

We joined Al's khara descent SR ( his fav track) for a fight at 6 and then at 5 : Al beated me twice : congrats Khara's crown is for ya mate :cake

We finished the night playing at 5 then 4 with MrX ( winner of that alpha tour : bloody him ;) , he shooted my poor AG on my precious track = BR)

I must recognize everyone improved their skill , special mention to 513 who was really fast as a bullet on few tracks

It took me two laps to catch up. Quick question, best route for that track that you can ride on the suspended really thin bridge for a while in the delta league? Do you ride on it the whole way?, jump off and turbo?

Meeting you on kai, Asayyeah, is usually only a matter of meeting you in the chat room, on the track I barely ever see you! :) So it was a delight to get into some fights yesterday, if only for a lap, or two. :D

Most frustrating moment spent with Dag yesterday: Racing down the track at high speed, I spotted a bomb. With extraterrestrial reflexes I barely managed to steer away from it. When I'm on the side of the bomb, Dag shows up from behind and as he passes me he hits me so that I am pushed into the bomb! :bomb On top of all, my shield was low and my ship explodes. Grrr... :mad: I had my revenge with the plasma, though. :g

Unfortunately, I cannot make it tonight... some friends here in Bern call for my attention. Even if I make it home in time for the session, I will most probably have beer induced problems with racing. :beer

Indeed, that was a fine race we had Jabberjaw. If I recall it correctly, you quickly gained on me with some barrel rolls, but then I caught up to you and went past after you hit that middle pole. I then had two, for my modest skills ;), good laps and we passed the finish line with barely a second in between our two ships. Great fun! :)

That track in the delta league, do you mean anulpha pass? If that's it then have a look at arnuad's post number 332 here (http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3475&page=34). I think that's the best way to fly on that track.

I`m on 3.02, but I dont think I`ll bother upgrading until I see a reason to do it. I dont think it matters which version of 3+ Sony firmware we`re on for kai, they all seem to work well together, but I could be wrong. :dizzy

Last night , Il-NiK did his 1st time on Kai : i am sure he has loved it !
there was Tom, Dan , NiK at the same place , then joining RR & 513
We played various tours at 4 and 5 changing from pilots from time to time , smooth racing and what a blast !
Again a night with several explosions... ok my AG has been shooted by team co-operation like ' hey everyone's on ASA's back !'
on a side note... how strange but funny to finish a race alone when you started one at 4 pilots and even at 5 ( blue Ridge) :o ;)

Unfortunately my connexion went down suddently no chance to get it on again :turd , hope you finished the session with good fights :banzai

Excuse me if I ramble too much below about things you already know.

When you log in you can choose to enter the lobby (is this the term used?). Within the lobby there are sections for the different consoles. When you have entered the psp section you find sections for the different games. If you are lucky you find someone within the Wipeout section. :)

At each stage in the path there is an overview of the users who are around, and there is a common chat for communication.

It's quite often that the Wipeout section is empty. When it's not, chances are good that someone from here is around. It seems to me that the best sessions are on Friday evenings/nights.

I think there is also the possibility to add users to a "Friends" list. If you do, you can always see which of your added friends are online when you are logged in.

So, maybe you will be around on Friday?!

I must recognize i haven't been on kai recently , since last time on friday session the 23rd of feb with dag, borell & RR we played from 10 to 1 am . Last friday Dag was in south of France : so no kai for me, but i quickly make few races with Mu5 and we did Del & me some impressive fights together yesterday end of aternoon.

Ahhh guys ...no more bloody Kai disconnections when we all meet at Dam :hyper , btw this friday Dag & me will be honoured to fight with anybody who wants ;)

Hey guys, just passing by to say hi. I've kinda forgotten about Pure for a while but today a friend I and Mr.X introduced to the game a few monts ago came back to town and we got together for a few casual races. After a few duels we started directly on Ascension and the the game was a fantastic triple draw with everyone at same points. One of the best games ever, especially with offline laggles play (kinda - PSP wlan still lags a bit).

Anyway the session has been mad fun for quite a while. MrX being the strongest one graciously played with his first love Puma instead of Triakis, I juggled a bit of Goteki, Tigron and Vanuber and turbo, the least seasoned player, but still an extremely quick learner, played mostly Triakis. All fun and all, but the more I played the more I began loosing my nerves, becoming depressed at every situation where I died totally at random. Sure, statistically the best will win in the long run, but I just couldn't take it... Frustration had the better of me. Once I even turned off my PSP after bouncing flipper-style on bombs and going from leading with almost full energy to dead. Better then smashing the PSP into the wall, which was, in those few moments, a very close alternative. Pfff. Anyway,... point of this all, besides telling everyone we're still alive is: I bow down to everyone who is able to enjoy the game as fully as you do, even when getting smashed by three random quakes after we did our best, played optimally for a whole race against a better player then us and totally "deserved" the win; and other regular nerve-wrenching stuff Pure can and will deliver. I know, it's a game and sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. But it really takes some freaking positive will to stay sane sometimes. Kudos, you're all winners. :+

I really hope you have a kickass time at the meeting. Borut and I have considered visiting but we just didn't find any viable airline solutions. Today, despite all of the frustration, I've rediscovered the greatness of multiplayer WipeOut and regret we cannot join. Again, have a great time and take care. :beer

Yes sometimes loosing is very painful especially if you lead most of the race then get quaked 3 times on the last 2 laps I've had that and though, damn it you stupid game how unfair is that to let them have all the powerful weapons but hey just more reason to keep playing so you can get rid of that rage by killing an opponent on the next race for me a kill has the same sort of high satisfaction level as a win, especially if its asa lol
