Isn't Wipeout 3 actually Wipeout 4, because of the Nintendo 64 version, or was that released later?
Thanks.

Yes,you say true, but Psygnosis have called it Wip3out becouse they're calculating the versions of Play Station Wipeout, and because the 3 is similiar to the E!!!!!!
WipEout 64 shared much of its design with WipEout 2097 though - some of the tracks are mirrored or reversed and the menu design is almost identical. It's also set in the same AG racing league as 2097. I think 64 is too similar to 2097 to be Wip3out in its own right.
The Menu Design appears different to me.
I didn't know that it was set in the same league. How interesting.
I know that Klies Bridge is almost a mirror of Talon's Reach, minus the kink in the starting area.
I see what both of your are saying. I have always viewed Wipeout 64 as a pretty separate game. I will still view Wip3out as Wipeout 4, but there we are.
WO64 is a variant of 2097/XL, ported to the N64 with a couple of variations. It wasn't a new game, so WO3 really is WO3.Not that I would mind having more different ones.

I actually agree with you - I was just trying to get into the minds of the developers and why they made the decision to call the fourth official WipEout game Wip3out.
I definitely regard WipEout 64 as a separate game to WipEout 2097 and had I been in charge of naming all the games in the series, I'd have called it something other than Wip3out. Not Wip4out, however, as 2097 for all intents and purposes is hardly titled Wip2out.
I heard it bridged the gap between 2097/XL and WO3 (as far as the futuristic years go)
So WO64 is WO2.5
or W2.5O.
er... well maybe not that last variation.![]()
