I have experienced some lagging from time to time in 222, especially in the phantom class. So, stepping up to 266 is nice.

I believe that the control response is better when using higher processor speeds, and this makes the racing easier (and faster times). Does the actual speed (of the ship?) increase as well?

il_NIK, nowadays there is a 2.80 -> 2.71 downgrader, and from there you can get to 1.50. No version above 2.80 can be downgraded yet. From 1.50 you can choose to run devhook or to flash any of the special/open edition firmwares. In both cases you can choose processor speeds yourself with the help of additional modules. In the more recent open edition firmwares this can also be achieved without additional modules.

Though speed differences seem rare to me on 3.0x, I agree about the smoothness. Multiplayer especially seems much smoother when everyone is on 3.0x firmware. Since it came out, we have had many more smooth races on kai with more than 4 players.

i second what said Stephen and tested it with my 2 psp : one with 3.02 FW = 28.9 sec on Citta TT , 2nd with DH at 333 = a low 27...
    my former record at 222 ( FW 2.0) = 29.4
I don't test it on each track, only with Citta i think this test shows an evidence : 333 is faster & smoother but this is not an official FW from Sony so for this challenge and idem for the WZ tables no 333 allowed.

Man, this is difficult! At first I was very frustrated with slow races. With practice I got faster, and got some better lap times as I got used to the track. The next problem, and still a big problem, is consistency in lap times.

Today I changed strategy a little, and managed to lower my race time immediately. Alas, the deviation among the lap times is still way too high...

    Here we go:

    AG Sys: 2.23.03 ( 0.29.36 0.26.89 0.29.65 0.28.25 0.28.88 )

    Update, with less deviation:

    AG Sys: 2.20.78 ( 0.28.20 0.28.29 0.28.03 0.28.57 0.27.69 )

Did not come further than this:

    AG Sys: 2.20.58 ( 0.28.58 0.27.91 0.27.93 0.27.78 0.28.38 )

    Hi Borell,

Yes this is a very difficult track indeed. However your times are getting more consistent, keep up the good work!!

PS: Are you interested in the Euro convention? Please let us know in the Euro convention thread.

    Greetings.

OMFG this track is a b*stard at Phantom! My tips for this track would be: keep the nose down at all times, and never hit the speed pad on the right in the tunnel. If I hit this the ship becomes unstable and I`m doomed to disaster at some point in the next five seconds. I really should hate this track for the same reasons as Citta Nuova, but it`s just so mad, and turboing at the narrow straight after the tunnel just can`t get boring. Anyone who thinks Pure has no "floatiness" should enter this challenge.

I need about 5 different ways to take each corner, because you never know exactly how you`re going to end up, and have to decide in about .001 of a second which method to use for the next bit. I was really surprised at AGS lack of performance on here, and that Goteki is good despite being super-floaty, which I thought would cause problems. Well, it does, and it`s very easy to lose a great run because she suddenly decides to roll on her back or head for Sol2......

    anyway times:

    Goteki 45 2.16.40/26.46

    update:

    AGS 2.15.50 (27.55/27.50/26.81/26.78/26.86)

    best lap: 26.44

Sebenco Climb Phantom ------------------------ Monday Report

6 fellow challengers raced on that sweet track, seb climb, where floatiness is damn real. The top 4 pilots used different ships : a symbol of each ship have their ' chance ' if we exclude the Big T , of course. I am pretty sure we didn't get the top of that track in term of racetime : easy sub 2.10.00 with big T and 2.10.00 for non triakis for 5 perfect lap and the good way where to get turbo... well ... we will see in future with TT Challenge Season 2 ' the return ' but we are only at episode 16 from 28 original

    Here's the result matesparty :

    Racetime
    1* Asayyeah : 2.15.03 Assegai
    2* Lunar : 2.15.50 Ag SyS
    3* Mad-Ice : 2.15.83 Goteki 45 -- 2.14.31 Triakis
    4* Alterego : 2.18.85 Goteki 45
    5* Borell : 2.20.58 Ag SyS

    Laptime
    1* Asayyeah: 26.02 Ag SyS
    2* Mad Ice : 26.41 -- 25.87 Triakis
    3* Lunar : 26.44 Ag SyS
    4* Alterego : 26.59 - 123 Klan
    5* Borell : 26.89 Ag SyS
    6* Il Nik : 28.23 Goteki 45

    Sweet challenge huh??
Thx for racing guys but that track i wanted

the next challenge is starting now and ending Sunday 28th of January midnight

    Hi All.

    ....mmmh...Anulpha....Rapier....pure velocity,less agility ....mmmh

    I love 123klan on this track....and i start with this ship,after a few run i made this:
    TT
    With 123Klan 1.42.41 (26.17p-25.50p-24.99p-25.75)
    With Piranha 1.42.61 (26.44p-25.23p-25.09-25.85)
    With Icaras 1.41.00 (26.26p-24.85p-24.98-24.91p)

i think that piranha is another good choice for this track....and Icaras!!!

    BL
    with Piranha 24.64
    with 123klan 24.99
    with Icaras 24.64

    B1L
    with Icaras 25.77

Sensei Asa and the other masters (Mad and Lunar) from you I waited for to see things from the other universe….eh eh eh

Not so nice huh Asa and Lunar to beat a sick man who had to go to bed early to get a good night sleep!!! And on top of that two minutes before and even four minutes after the deadline

LOL: No serious guys real nice times congratulations to you!!! It was really close racing beating eachothers times constantly And now on to the next, i can see Alterego is anxious to see our times, btw you have already got some good times there!! Are you going ontop the small bridge and then taking three speedpads and immediatly jump off the get the barrel roll?

    Ok good luck everyone!!!

    Here's Icaras;
    RR: 1.41.41 - 26.13, 25.02, 25.25, 25.01
    LR: 0.24.68
    RR: 1.39.75 - 25.73, 24.63, 24.85, 24.54
    LR: 0.24.23

    Unofficial Triakis;
    RR: 1.39.66 - 25.86, 24.71, 24.57, 24.52
    LR: 0.24.30

It is so cool to see other ships being better on some tracks than the dominating Big Triakis ship. The first time i felt this, was; when i was not able to beat my race record with Triakis on Vohl Square, this track is just screaming for Goteki45!!!!

    Hi Mad-Ice, hi all.

    Tnx for the Tip Mad-Master....

I have seen the possibility to only take three of the four BP and to exit from the shortcut in order to make br and then launch the boost just before the startline.

however I have made the time with 123klan covering all the shortcut and making br on the end….I must still take the correct time for the anticipated br after three bp. ehm ehm

see my post above : i ve updated the last TT result

Sorry Matt' to steal you the pole on extrem limit lol i abuse of you being sick but i must confess that i took control of Stin's pc to successfully re install DWL after that shitty XP bug : spent lots of time on it and only get 1 pity hour to finish that challenge

Back-on-track : Congrats Rom this is truly great 1st time entered

    Here's my current result with

    Ag SyS :
    26.79 (P) - 25.35 (P) - 26.16 - 25.55 (P) = 1.43.85
    27.63 - 25.26 - 25.14 (P) - 25.55 (P) = 1.43.58
    26.30 (P) - 25.11 - 25.31 - 24.94 (P) = 1.41.66

    24.95
    24.94
    24.89
    24.66

I am using turbo at the end of the first left bend after the start, i try to get the 3 BP in diagonal then 'normal' line till the upper section where i am taking all the 4 BP and get a BR ( 50% of time) at the end of the jump .

3 perfect laps done for me and still not beaten you : Rom , your scores rock mate
    (...)
    1.42.00 possible with AG ?
    (...)
yeah very possible ( 50% BR succeeded)
    (...)
good luck with this lap héhéhé
    (...)
    Which lap ???

    Assegai

    24.35
    25.69 - 24.85 - 25.43 - 24.87 = 1.40.84
    Sweet 1st lap huh?
    No BR at lap 3

    Out of challenge :
    Big T
    25.85 - 24.43 - 24.85 - 24.55 = 1.39.68
    24.11

    Into the challenge

    Zone
    25.96 - 24.75 - 24.35 - 24.33 = 1.39.39
    24.17

Thanks for last week`s challenge - it was scary and . Racing against you chaps is a privilege. Having said that, I have been desperately trying to win a challenge with El`s ship, so that I could write "Kiss my Assegai" in the reason for editing field. And now Asa has only gone and done it, so we`ll have to kiss his Assegoodbye instead, dammit.

I had officially given up on Saturday night, but decided to have the fatal "one last go" on Sunday evening. It didn`t take long for AG to do the business, so I opened the wine and was just on the second glass when Asa reported in with his awesome Assegai time. Congrats to you, Arnaud, but Mad-Ice pushed us to do it. In Goteki that was an awesome time. Far be it from me to quote myself, the Assayator could be watching with his mod-hat on, but if somebody would like to quote post #317 I think my predictions were correct.

About Anulpha, I don`t think dropping off the high route early is a great move in TT, as you lose the speed pad benefits, which is fast if you get them all, and the landing is much harder when you drop off early, costing you more speed, than going off the end. We have recently learned the dangers of too much air and hard landings in TT. So I believe it`s best to take all of the BPs on the top route, and you can get the BR off the end anyway, and it can be done all of the time with practice.

Here`s my tip, (this is only for Alter Ego and must not read by Asa or Mad-Ice, turn away your eyes lads): if you go to the right side of the track just before you drop off the end of the shortcut you have much more chance of making the BR work. Pitching up doesn`t really help much I think, you have to be going fast from the BPs and go to the right, with the BR just before you go off the end. It seemed to work for me anyway.

Ok Asa and Mad you may look again now, nothing to see here

    Wow...what some laps I see!

So... I'm so sad that my grand father tells me: Nik, I give you my ship for your laps. It was a glorious and large ship, and a little of paint, some patches on the right place and a good drive can cause to you a good position.

Ok man, I told him. and Auricom came with me.

    Now, first laps:

BL: 25.01 (with Lunar's jumpin' BR)
BL: 24.89 (without the lunars's one)
    BL: 24.79 (with)

    Piranha: BL 24.76

...catching the double pads before the shortcut...
