As far as I know you need a dev kit or special PS3 or something to play the preview version of Zone mode, and very few people have access to it to begin with.

Originally a TEST or a TOOL PS3 was required to run the preview version but now it is possible to jailbreak a PS3 with old firmware (1.71 if I remember correct, a fat or a slim, not a superslim) and install Sonys debug firmware (can be downloaded). Then you get the same functionality as a TEST machine and the preview version runs perfectly.
