now correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't 100% airbrakes the least sensitive?
that's what i was told, and it definitly feels like it is

100% airbrakes it's means modulated braking (not more rapid and aggressive braking) (thanks yeldar2097)
100% motion sensitive I like for be more reactive in the narrow sections (Modesto Heights or Umbermall final sector...) and you can minimize the use of airbrakes,
only acceleration sensitive it's good 10%.....

These are all personal opinions try this setting on time trial, see if you like it , bye friend !!!

    Just to clarify:
100% Aibrake Sensitivity = Button must be pressed 100% of the way in order to achieve 100% braking.
50% Airbrake Sensitivity = Button must be pressed 50% of the way in order to achieve 100% braking.
10% Airbrake Sensitivity = Button must be pressed 10% of the way in order to achieve 100% braking.

So in other words, for more control over the % braking in-game relative to how far you push the trigger/button, go for a higher % sensitivity (80-100)
For more twitchy braking where brakes are either ~100% ON or 100% OFF, go for 10%.
Then there's everything else in between.
Generally the 'aggression' of your braking is to do with how hard you normally press the buttons. Some people are heavy-handed, others use a very delicate touch. You just have to balance it out with your flying style.

Personally, I don't find control over how much I airbrake useful in the slightest. I either want airbrakes or I don't. It's easier to tell where you're losing time, and to fix it.
You also don't have to worry about inconsistent Sideshift distances as much if you run a low %.

so it is the other way around right? Liverpool why you make this so confusing?! lol

10% = sharper turn with an equal amount of pressing compared to 100% air brakes
    right?
    (assuming a constant speed)

cuz you say button must be "depressed" and you're only confusing me more xD

it's funny, after nearly 3 years of wipeout i still haven't figured this out

Yes, sorry, pressed. My English drops out on me from time to time.

    Apologies for the confusion.

so what i was told is correct after all lol, hey andrew, you're playing on the least sensitivity
I tried it, but it didn't work for me, lowered it to 70, then 60 and am now at 40%, which seems to be quite nice, but i'll have to fly some more to be certain, maybe even drop lower

    Thx for the input Yeldar

Yeah I had written a big bullshit before, I changed the post, I don't want to create confusion...next time I'll post only videos...the lessons are not for me ehhh
Bye thanks yeldar2097 for your clarification !!!

    No problem
It confused me for almost a year until Zone legend ProblemSolver explained it all to me.

I'm not convinced that's the actual case... if you let me offer a different theory:

Using the accelerator as the example, think of each percentage point as a physical position that the actual X button or whichever button it is you use to accelerate is depressed, with 100% being depressed fully and 0% not depressed at all. Then, slightly alter your personal definition of sensitivity by thinking it's now meaning "to get the desired result you must input an accurate desired value", as opposed to "you only need to apply a small input to gain a large response", e.g. if you want 20% you better damn well put in 20% as opposed to you only needing to put in 1% to gain 100% response from something. You should now see that 100% means that the game will poll the accelerator button's physical depression as accurately as it can, meaning if it's pressed 89% the game will give you 89% thrust. Lowering the sensitivity breaks the levels at which the game measures the button's depression down from 100 levels to, at lowest, 10. e.g. holding the button 4% down at 10% sensitivity will round the value up to 10% thrust, and at 89% down, 90% thrust, etc.. So, that means you only have to hold the button >90% of the way down to achieve max. thrust, not only 10% of the way down as mentioned by yeldar. As the natural position people hold down the accelerator is greater than 90% of the polling range for "analogue control", there's no problem, and even if they aren't at max. thrust they get a larger, more desirable response from the accelerator that alleviates the concerns experienced while using 100% sensitivity.

So yeah, that's really the more accurate definition of sensitive anyway. Sorry if I'm being pedantic, but it's a sensitive topic, if you will ;P

p.s. Analogue buttons on console controllers were never a smart idea; I don't know how the idea never went away once no game ever made use of them to any remotely useful degree after the craze for analogue sticks turned into a generalised standard. Even conventional racing games have no room for them, really...

what's with you people and the word " depressed" wtf xD
and i do find it odd they would have 2 different schemes (acceleration vs air brakes)

I might do some video testing on anulpha (nice straight) at maximum speed of a ship and then using the air break on 100% and on 10% and watch the footage frame per frame afterwards

I just used the accelerator as the example, airbrakes would work the same way.

As for the use of the word depressed... see definitions 2, 3, and 5.

i know what it means lol, it's just weird that you use depress instead of press, you press a button after all
and i'll do those air brake test recordings today, have to know now..

Yes amp I meant it more as an example/general rule. It's more complicated of course but I can't really be arsed to write down all the 'how a controller works' stuff. I let you do that bit

I have such a light touch if I run 100% accel sensitivity I average around 35-40% thrust in game, 100% brakes I fly pretty much in a straight line, even moreso when I was still using L2/R2 lol.
SO glad this game has % adjustment...even if it is a bit odd to figure out . Not so glad then handling is ruined. Still bitter about that, put in maybe 150 hours running tests/writing up a whole bunch really detailed stuff to help out, wasn't even acknowledged. **** you whoever at SL was responsible for ignoring me or the dick on the phone treating me like some random QQ fanboy, I actually knew what I was talking about with this game. Sensitive topic also.

Yeldar I am hunting down your TDR(r) rapier SL world record!! hehe Currently 3rd (sorry Amp - taken it away from you). If I get that extra 0.2s for a WR I will post a vid - watch this space.

Go for it dude Didn't even realise I'd done a Rapier SL on TDRR, hate that track almost as much as Talon's Snoozefest (f)

    Happy flying

After talking about it and watching some old videos of mine, I'm missing my game a lot and until now haven't been able to play it because of one retarded dev decision.
Thinking about it, would people have a problem with it if I posted videos PRE 2.51? I have reliable internet connection now so I can re-download HD no problem.
Only reason I ask is because I don't really like to post unless I've beaten a PB, but in order to do that I need to fly on the now defunct pre 2.51 patch, which might be confusing
for people since it's a completely different game and I don't want to fool people into thinking certain things are possible when they're not.
I suppose I could make a special note next to each one?
