I've been really hooked on zone recently, especially on the metropia tracks, since they're by far my favourite tracks in the game. I recently attained a score of 152810 on Metropia Reverse which earned me the 12th spot on the worldwide rankings (that is, if they're actually accurate and not full of glitchers or whatever like some of the other tracks):

    Screenshot_2.png

I'm the sort of person that focuses purely on getting those perfect laps and hitting as many speed boosts as possible, because the score gain in the first part of the run can be massive. Unfortunately, once I reach the higher zones I just seem to full apart and hit wall after wall because I'm so used to taking a line which gets me the speed pads as opposed to avoiding the walls (sometimes the transitions between different speed classes can be really distracting!!!!)

If anyone has particularly good zone scores, I wouldn't mind adding them and giving a few goes at trying to beat some of them.

    My PSN is LightningRacer.

Anyone remember what zones they got on their first ever turn? My friend who never played wipEout before I set him up on zone straight away and he got zone 14 first time, 21 after a few goes on Mallavol. I think I started in the 30s

Zone battle is awsome, but i don't play it very well, i love when i get a gold medal on elite difficulty in a zone battle.

I dont think i got mutch higher then 19. i played alot of wipeout before but that was wipeout 1,2,3 so there were a few years of no wipeout at all. also all wipeouts that i did i played behind the ship. but this wipeout i wanted to learn to fly in the ship not because its better or so but because the sence of speed is just alot Heigher!

played 3 rounds of zone mode v-k and got to 82 zones. my rec is 84 i may try to break it tonight but i'm already very tired
I wanna beat problemsolver and kill all zones till zone 100 i just love to play v-k just the right amound of corners and difucultie. cokpit view ftw.

ps i feel my brains slurping energy if i get 75+ zones

pps not going for zone score at this point. just wanna beat the 100 but i dont play alot any more so that will be hard to manage

Okay, I just had my best run EVER on Syncopia:

    391,055 (121/97)

The first time I hit a wall was at Zone 81, so I was able to rack up a TON of perfect lap/zone points. I broke 200,000 at Zone 55 and 300,000 in the low 80s. I even got a perfect lap around Zone 115. My score could have been higher if I had not thrown two perfect laps away by oversteering at the end of the laps. I am so pumped about this. Colonel Gaddhafi has gone DOWN!

    Who's next?

    (checks leaderboard)

Oh, it's Problem Solver, Yeldar and Super Ryuga...

...and their total number of PERFECT zones is higher than my number of TOTAL zones.

    Never mind.

Okay, Colonel! Looking forward to it!

By the way, another track I really enjoy Zoning on is Anulpha Pass Reverse. That's probably the only track where I enjoy the reverse version more than the original (well, along with Vineta K Reverse). I've hit Zone 67 on APR, which is decent, considering that I haven't practiced it NEARLY as much. On the regular Anulpha Pass, there's a really cheap design flaw that screws me up. When the track splits near the end and you can take the high road with all the speed pads, there's a large light fixture hanging down at the end of the high road that you can crash into and fall off the track through no fault of your own if you have too much speed. Screw that. I've also crashed into the overhead signs at the beginning of the high road because I had too much airtime coming off of the main track. Dislike.

The key is to drop off the overpass earlier, like you would in a race. I've not hit anything going onto the bridge. Anulpha Rev is awesome for Zone, definitely one of my favourites. Just checked the rankings and my best is an 88 / 64 run. Might have to have a bash at that too.

Put another friend of mine straight into zone mode mallavol again, destroyed just before entering zone 16. Reached 23 after a few goes. As for me my skills are degrading and not sure I'll get my record back .

Mallavol is a funny track. It starts off simple enough, but then when things get faster, there are so many small turns that you get disoriented and lose track of where you are on the track. It seems like a track where you can get a very high score though, unlike Modesto Heights or Sebenco Climb. Ugh.

I have mad respect for you guys who are good at Vineta K. I like this track a lot, but I really have trouble with it once you hit Super Phantom or so. I have a very hard time getting perfect zones because the track is so narrow and there are so many turns that make it easy to hit the walls. I don't know how you guys do it.

I'm not sure what version I have but I know I haven't updated it in a long time. Why does 2.51 help yeldar?

Another hint for Anulpha Pass: It's possible to do 2 barrel rolls per lap early on if you do one going onto the bridge. It takes a lot of precision and is a bit risky because you've wasted 15 shield if you mess up. However the extra ~1200 pts (can't believe I still don't know the exact amount ) is always a nice bonus.

I think 2.51 either increased shield of zone ship, or handling, or both.

Was 2.51 already pre-installed on the retail (UK disc) copy?

1,000 per Barrel Roll Reezy. And yeah, I can't believe you don't know either

It only changed the handling. When you turn, the ship will lose more speed, decreasing your turning radius and thus, the chances to take the turn cleanly increases.

@Colonel. I used to think this but watching the score as you land one makes it look like it's 1200 or 1250.
