This is a six race venom tournament I did this morning with LJ and a few others. It didn't go well, and the game audio is muted at several points to hide my foul tempered outbursts. Anyway, here it is...

My gameplay of the Aftermath tournament of the Fury campaign, done against the Elite AI. I know this may be not so incredible to watch, but I wanted to try this, especially when I bought my PVR.

The video was recorded near a half year ago. I always said to myself I should upload that video once I had the time to do so, but I always forgot that thanks to my procrastination, and a little brother who stays connected even at late nights. Sum that my crappy upload speed of 512 Kbps.
Now that I finally managed to upload this, I'm glad to remove a maybe forever pending task I had active for a long span of time.

Offtopic PS: I don't know if this video is eligible for the "Fury Perfect" trophy.

Hi, yesterday I was recording my online races with the camera to see what I can improve in my racing, but I have question is anyone recording gameplay footage directly from PS3 using some HD recording device connected to USB (I have laptop computer only atm) and could suggest me some setup? I was unable to find any kind of this information on this forum (or I'm too lazy to dig deeper ). There a lot of info on the web, but maybe someone have good working setup here Thanks

    Anyway here's the vid:

i am, matrox MXO2 mini here
isn't USB though, because USB isn't fast enoughf or direct playback on the computer, so it's connected via a PCI-e card

has component input/s-video input/rca input & hdmi input

also has the same outputs, though sadly i don't have a tv, so i can't hook those up

but it works with direct playback, just a bit expensive ^^

and no fan of the PVR since it's bitrate is quite low and thus results in meeeh quality compared to the MXO2 ^^

I use a PVR since the end of January, and in my honest opinion, the setup is no great shakes. Although at the first time you may have some things that you're not completely sure about, once you get the hang of the PVR, starting to plug cables in, and tweaking the settings from your PC, you'll think the PVR is the most simple thing you've ever seen.

For most of the PVRs of the market, in order to record the high definition video resolution from your PS3, you have to do it through the component video signal (Y Pb Pr). The main reason is because the HD video output from the PS3 is encoded with the HDCP protocol if you use the HDMI signal, and the PVRs can't decode it (PCIe cards can, but they require a higher-tier PC to do smooth recordings at high bitrates and resolutions). The Y Pb Pr signal is not encoded, and thus, can be recorded.

The PVR will receive the said signal, and then it'll pass-through to your TV with no delay, while at the same time is being recorded and saved to your PC with an specific software.

    The setup is the following:

    • Your console, with a Component AV cable.
    • Your TV, with a Component video input signal (Y Pb Pr).
    • The PVR, with both said in/outputs, the component AV cable for the output signal, and the data cable.
    • Your PC, which you need to control the recording and its settings. With a dual-core CPU and a decent graphic card compatible with DirectX 9, you won't have any problems.

I've attached a simple graphic of the setup. However, if it's necessary, I'll do a photo of the setup I'm using, but it isn't anything unusual. Just plug this in, plug these other, manage the cables so they don't use a lot of space, turn your PC on and you're done.

with the mxo2 mini you can ditch the output if you have final cut studio7

though you need a strong comp for realtime playback and recording at the same time

but if you don't have a TV that's the way to go ^^

as for HDMI, indeed as ragsus maximus said, it is encoded with HDCP, though if your PVR is HDCP compliant you can record HDMI signals (IF the PS3 gives a green light for recording) eg you can't record blue ray drives obviously, and sadly i think games are treated the same way, so yeah, only the dashboard would be recordable over hdmi

    in short;
    mxo2 is for professionals
hauppage HD pvr is for the normal customer
there's others on the market as well though, like blackmagic (they got a wide variety of capture cards, internal and external), but matrox is mostly professional

Looking good Mr. Rogers, if it's any help you can see one more place to pull of a BR on AP Reverse in this video:

LJtheZombie this is great! I gotta try that BR - looks very very cool

Was doing some online multiplayer races last night and texasalex turned up. Let's just say no-one got anywhere near him - quite simply in another league! One day I might even see him cross the line....

Hey Ragsus, sorry for the delay in replying here, but I've spoken to Oryx and yes, this is fine for the Fury Perfect trophy. We'll amend the trophy description to make it clear that this tournament is eligible. Good effort.
