Wouldn't it be easier to turn off the music in the menu if you wanted SFX only?

not really, cause my 'technique' has 2 major advantages:

1. the music is turned off only for that particular event (temporarily)
2. AND it shuts down the equalizer too (very helpfully in zone modes)

I guess you could also load an mp3 of like 30 minutes of silence and make a playlist that just loops that.... just sayin'

don't get me wrong, music is fine, but without the SFX it's a bit annoying IMHO. and it would be very cool to hear u tapping the airbrakes and stuff

edit: there's a way to mute the music within the game (when the loading screen appears, quickly press the PS button to show the XMB, then immediately press the PS button again before the loading screen disappears), so u can record just the SFX + ur playing sounds. afterwards whilst editing u can add the music to finally create ur masterpiece.

So that's why it get's silent at times. I thought my console were just messing with me.

The best way:
- use camera to record screen
- use laptop/PC to record sound from PS3 using audacity and play music from winamp instead of muted music in wipeout (it won't be recorded by audacity becouse it'll record only input sounds, outgoing sounds by headphone jack will have nothing to your recording)... just advice I'm using to not race without music as it's dumb

You can add music in post, from windows movie maker (or whatever you use) which offers more flexibility using my method though . . .

might just record and add no sound, you get the sfx and some music so it will do until i get up to date with the software im using, not figured whats best atm

I would also like to record it but the only thing I can do is put a camera on the tripod and infront of my screen. It's HD, but it's like a re-record, so the quality still sucks^^ How do you record the races?

If there is another bling brigade where I can join in, I will also try to videotape it. Always nice memories

yup i did, to bad i was rendering at the time though causing frame drops spikes and chokes
and sad it isn't HD either, my apple cinema display isn't HDCP compliant so the ps3 din't want to play on it -_-
therefor i have the EyeTV Hybrid which has RCA input and has recording software included , the down side is, the video goes through your computer and if your computer is doing lots of stuff at the same time, it'll give you frame drops and spikes, think i'll buy me a TV soon and get an elgato eyetv HD
