all this paranoia's driving me up the wall

This paranoia made me quit Wipeout Arena's community 2 or 3 weeks ago... and is totally ruining my Wipeout experience.
Without the great moments from the conventions, I probably would have left for good...
I'm really really fed up with all these things...

Sadly certain sections of this "community", rather than celebrating such raw talent, jump all over it with snide paranoid remarks, basically claiming its yeldar in disguise

Maybe because that paranoia you're taking about was born when some guys did that kind of stuff already. Yeldar playing on conor buckley's account, and setting top 10 times & platinum for him, is a fact, he admitted it !!!
Is it that strange to be a bit suspicious if a new player, friend of Yeldar IRL, enters the community and breaks several records in very short time of playing HD ? It's possible i think, but i still say that the existing video isn't sufficient to dissipate any doubts, as said also Wotan or Amplificated !!
Soa-booney says he'll do another one as soon as possible, it's the best way to prove he's what he says !
And if he's the wipeout genious he seems to be, he'll be celebrated as he deserves (by me the first) !

You're fed up with the paranoia of certain members here, i understand that, but are you fed up also of people creating alt accounts on the zone to start idiot wars between members, like kigo or ace-flo did ? I'm not talking about Ion-harvest being ace-flo, it never was unquestionably proved, but he created haxorger if i remember well, who was a troll on pulse's threads and was banned for that (maybe mods can confirm the names) !
You think that community will be more united if we close our eyes on that kind of behaviour and just enjoy playing the game ? It can be true if you're not too much involved on competition for the rankings (like it's your case and it's perfectly respectable). But if you try to compete against other players/members for the leaderboards, you expect people doing it honestly, without glitches or multi accounts, or at least to reveal those things !!

Honestly it's probably be a better idea to just leave this discussion well enough alone, but really I get the passion and all that but what I don't get is why you keep dragging it out.

sure I get that when someone comes into the game with ridiculous talent people get suspicious, hell I did too the first time around, but when you start putting the pieces of the puzzle together this really does get a bit too much.

Amp you said that for Booney to be this good he'd have to play 20-hours per day, and while I understand that was an overstatement the numbers do speak for themselves he's been playing for about half a year and his online rank is 68(last time I checked) I've been playing on and off since the game came out 3 years ago and I'm at rank 59. Also almost every time I go online on HD nowadays he's there having fun already.

On another note I say Occam's razor, what's more likely? That along comes someone very talented and dedicated who happens to know and maybe play with one of the legends of WO? or that one of the legends WO for some reason wants to scam the community and would take it so far as to set up a fake video to prove his innocence as well as keeping to this fake personality for months and months (pretty much every day too), in addition to doing stuff that is sure to raise eyebrows, like breaking 40-ish world records.

Since I only ever met 2 people of this community none of whom have any world records I can't be 100% sure but looking at the evidence I see no reason to be suspicious, any more.

And even if there was a reason, I certainly see no reason to keep this discussion going as it serves no other purpose than to keep this unnecessary fight going.

My view is that whatever your feelings on the matter you should let it go til you have some new evidence.

His first wipeout HD trophy was earned on 08.06.2011 ! Well it's still possible that he played HD before under another account, (not necessarily yeldar's ok ), but in that case he should precise stuff like that !


The fact that someone is friendly with you don't convinced me that he don't do crap stuff on your or other's back. Kigo did that with me, and i was the naïve one defending him when others had issues with him !
But understand me well, i'm not saying that Soa-booney isn't a nice person, but only that an apparently friendly contact on internet (or IRL) isn't a proof of honesty !

And i let it go now until i have some evidence as stated on my recent posts !

This is getting rather ugly. My thoughts on the matter from the evidence I've seen and read is that some people are just good at video games. SoA has not been causing any trouble on the forums, so I don't think it's right to go around pointing fingers, and blow the situation way out of proportion.

Please, quit with the conspiracy theories, and get back on topic. I want some more gameplay videos!

i watched this discussion (Soa Booney = Yeldar) for a while now, and i have a question. has booney set zone WRs? or just SL - TT WRs? we all know yeldar is the federer of wipeout, who has WRs in all modes except detonator. if booney has WRs in all modes too, he maybe really is an alternate yeldar. to set zone-WRs is much harder then setting other WRs, well at least for me
look at it like this: yeldar = emperor; booney = his apprentice

i raced against both accounts, and yeldar was harder to beat then booney was...

Soa promised a video who will unquestionably prove he's able to play with that skills at wipeout HD (i already think he's not yeldar, that's not what i need to be convinced of), and will be also on topic, so if i stop arguing of my doubts (not evidences ok, DOUBTS !!), you should do the same on your side !!

I don't play wipeout HD these days (one online race per week or even nothing), i prefer pulse/pure or skydrift ATM
So i didn't uploaded yet your ghost, i will later... or not, i'm almost done with HD to be honest. I look forward 2048 and i really hope that game will be a new start for this community, without glitchs, alt accounts, uber ego bragging wipers etc. To revive the extremely good vibes that community had when HD was released : members being enthusiast with every trophy achieved, sl/tt challenges and online races very popular... and lot of fun !

It was >20hrs/week, not day, and it wasn't that far from hyperbole.

Overall, it doesn't even matter what anyone thinks right now, people just have valid concerns that are haven't been 100% addressed yet. That's all this is about, it shouldn't really be drama...

hey, does somebody know what's the max upload file size for utube vids? i have a zone run i would like to upload, it's size is something about 600+mb.
and it's a mp4 file recorded with playstation eye, must i use windows movie maker or something? i really haven't a clue, cause im not into pc using anymore. due to my old pc died 3 years ago, i haven't really used one since than. and i must use the pc of my boss, will it take long to upload such a big file (16000kb/s)? any help would be really nice.

2GB or 15 minutes length, I think. However, YT will just convert the video to a highly lossy format, so I'd try to reduce the quality on your end just to save time. Using windows movie maker will be fine for converting to a lower format (it has a setting for YT vids, too)

In You Tube you can upload a video that is not more than 2 Gb (standard user), regard to the mp4 format is Ok, YouTube accepts him anyway.

15min per file limit has been taken down some time ago so now u can upload as much as u want (size limit is still active though i suppose)
EDIT: I've fired up my calculator and i can tell that with your goddamn fast connection it will take around 50sec to upload 700mb file... i don't know what about YT servers (~ 5min)

Re: the 2GB limit, you can exceed this as long as the PC you're using has up to date Java software I think. As for the 15min limit, don't you have to have uploaded a few videos to your account before that unlocks?

I can upload longer videos than 15 mn, my last pure video (tt online with Mssa) is 17 mn long. I unlocked that some time ago, and i have the message saying that i can upload videos longer than 15 mn each time i upload a new one, but i've not idea of the limit in size and time i'm allowed !
