TBH, I'm surprised that I'm a seed over some players (I'm only online level 40 and have never competed in any online events like Avalon, Xpand, etc.), and there are a lot of signed up players who are really good and yet unseeded...

However, the seeds are just to help divide the pool and reduce the chances of really good players being eliminated in round one. If you're good enough to beat most seeds, good for you, and you could do well in the tournament - and that should probably be more important to you than being on a list generated by people you mostly don't, or barely, know.
There are definitely a decent number of unseeded players IMO that are really good and could get pretty far, and I'm sure there's a decent possibility of seeded players getting knocked out round 1 (probably just jinxed it for me right then ).

I think quitting because you supposedly aren't in the top 64 most favourited to win is beside the point of the cup, which is just to have nice, gigantic, WOHD tournament. The people who are taking charge of the event are just trying to make things fair, and I think they're doing a fine job so far. No one is doing this for money - it's all just for fun. And bragging rights

Your probably better off being a seeded pilot as it means you won't meet another seeded pilot at least until round 3

On the other hand you could face off with one of the many very good unseeded pilots in the first or second round and still get to wear your bottom as a hat. I spot at least 3 or 4 unseeded players in my group I rather wouldn't want to face in any round.

While all the seeded players are good, you're only as good as your last race and I too expect a few upsets in the first round.

Oh and it is rather amusing someone actually is insulted not to be seeded. Get over yourself and prove to the world how good you are!

Me Also wouldn't be surprised if some of the seeded players will be defeated in the first or second round... There are lots of unseeded players with skill, who will get people surprised I guess.

P.s Sorry fellow raptors, my real life has been busy last few weeks but I'm off for 2 days now, so I will contact the unconfirmed pilots of my merlin group TONIGHT! Peace

no worries R3BU5ER, we still have time. As you said guys, we'll probably see lots of surprises round 1. Amplificated, you're in the seeded player list regarding your overall wipeout HD career. As I said, we based ourselves on :

    -Online rankings
    -Connavar Rankings
    -Avalon tournaments
    -Other Zone tournaments
-Common knowledge of the level playing field

When I'm doing a search on Connavar's website with your name, I easily understand why you're seeded. When I'm doing the same search wth akirapill, I don't see someone able to beat half of the seeds, even a seed who retired last year, or an injured seed playing with one single hand or his foots. Seriously I can't understand people sometimes. Did you ever see me one single time bragging about my speed lap times?
Of course we had to make a choice, otherwise we would have around 100 seeded players.

PS : They fked my access at WZ once again at work, so see you guys later around 17h gmt+1.

I know Kanar, Just wanted to keep you informed

And you're right About the seeded player list. People can complain about it, but it has no use at all...the connavar is discutable though, many pilots haven't or couldn't ( like me) filled in any times there. And there could tactics be used against the titans. There will be surprises indeed. Let's rock wipers!

    Erm okay.

I'm retired now (been so for about a year) but let me just give you what I know.

I've played against or know everyone on the seeded list but the following people:

    AIIRW0LF
    CHRIS-_REDFIELD
    FLAFLASAT
    MORFEO378
    PP234

That means that everyone else on the seeded list has:
-Been playing the game for two years, including online play; or
-Been active in the community enough that I recall their names somehow.

And that's not entirely accurate even because now that I think about it real hard I recall seeing AIIRW0LF posting on the forums here and CHRIS-_REDFIELD from maybe an online race?

Also, that's not the end of it. From the players left unseeded, there are many more who have been playing for equally as long that I know for certain.

What I'm doing is putting this in perspective. You said you are better than half the seeded players (Who were chosen by a group after careful consideration.) That also means you are better than the unseeded players I know of who are also very good (In theory land anyways.)
If you are this confident in yourself, why did you back out?

It's a shame because even though it's a tournament it isn't all about winning it's also about being a part of it in some way. I can't race but I was motivated enough to make these boards you see, because this whole thing is for the whole community.

Now you will be missing out on your occasion, just because of a list that in fact doesn't really mean much because if you are the best you will win (Unless there's some bad luck.)

Too bad I guess, but I hope that now with what I told you you realize that you were not the only one who is good (probably I haven't raced you I don't think) but unseeded. Don't be insulted next time if there is another occasion.

I don't know why some people take the seeded list so personally. Its just a mild indicator to try and get the groups to have a nice mix of players. I'm greatly looking forward to some potential big upsets in round 1!!

Personally, for me, it's hard to tell how good someone is when you have maybe raced them 5 times in two years. I can imagine a few people upset with not being seeded, the best way to answer that is show your worth on the track and prove us wrong. Time will tell if we got it right with the seeds or not.

I'm not really bothered about whos on the seeded list (I wasn't expecting to be
on it anyway), it's the way it's been set up, it's like saying your all good and
the rest of you are just here to make up the numbers, yea it'll be more likely for
two big names from the list to be in the final, but do we want that? Wouldn't
we rather have random races where the is a slim chance, but still a chance
that someone we've never heard of will be in the final. Yea all the good players
are more likley to get there but the way it is now the underdog has no chance
of getting through the group stages.

Do you see what I mean?

No one here is to "just make up the numbers".
It would be impossible to do this without each and every one of us.

I do see what you mean, but every knockout competition in the world is done like this, if it's good enough for the darts it's good enough for us.

We probably could of picked 100 seeded pilots if it would of suited the layout of the competition board.
I think Kanar chose the correct amount, any more than 25% of the field would of been overkill.
I'm not expecting to last very long at all in this tournament, I haven't played seriously in ages, just a few quick games now and then, I'm just in it for the fun of it.

You have a point there! But it's not the way Kanar wants it and I happen to agree with him, I hope you reconsider though.

And Kanar I played you the other week, and after I thanked you for the torney invite? You remember where you didn't win a single race? Laught that off.

Or like the soccer world cup....Italy, France and Holland in one group WTF!
But this is little different with sudden-death from the start.

Actually Akirapill, I sort of agree with you. I would also have liked to see it drawn that way, but it just isn't. And I'm totally fine with it. And I totally disagree with the way you're posting your 2 cents here. Very immature and sad. Too bad man.
