I don't think there are a lot of options you'd be able to do to fix the problem. One of the stupid things that has to be said is check that you have the right password, i.e. the one you use for the site and not your psn password, if they're different... hey, it has to be said

Also, I didn't get a confirmation email either afaicr, it just worked as soon as I made an account so you shouldn't worry that that's what you're missing.
