Laser operati-- no... plasma operation?! It would stop you from ever needing to worry about anything growing again on your face... even skin cells.

68% of Fury downloaded so far. I really didn't feel like seeing the ad every 3 races for month to come. I already use Gillette for crying out loud! But not anymore...

Ha, it thrashed my head earlier when I went to get a drink between races and I heard a Gillette advert. Thought I'd stepped on the remote on my way out but no, there it was. The ads were on when I first got my PS3 but I didn't mind because it was a hot blonde in suspenders. I miss her.

Wow wow wow just a minute there fellas: you have ads in your loading screens? I wasn't even aware of that.

I guess it depends on the country and the national law but holy **** at this kind of practice. I knew that some online billboards were "on sale" in some games, but loading times? Really?

The world of tomorrow seems bleak. Although I guess that a creative marketodroid could come up with "well, stuffing ads in every last place possible is very coherent with this game who presents a dystopian future composed of ultra-consumerism and death races".

EDIT: I will probably rage pretty hard if there are ads in my game this week...
EDIT02: Ho and obviously very late to the party. Now I remember some talk of this quite some time ago, but I really forgot about it had no idea they continued on with this.

It's hard for me to be indignant about the in-game ads. I'm absolutely fine with them happening in online games, because online infrastructure costs money to run, and it's not like I am doing anything else valuable with my time while waiting to get beat by all of you online.

Seeing them happen during racebox loading screens pissed me off a good bit. I suppose I could just sign out of PSN to avoid it, but still, they were a bit much.

Ultimately though, if it means more Wipeout, and that SCEE is paying attention to Wipeout enough to do ad sales and revenue promotion, then I am all for it. The SL layoffs really bothered me because to me I felt it meant a long term coma for the Wipeout Franchise. However, I see developments in the online ad space as a positive thing for the future of the franchise.

Whatever gets me more Wipeout games, I'll be fine with.

I was just entering a game, the loading screen appeared and – BAM! In your face! – there comes a big fat bold movie trailer. They must be joking.

Not only was it totally weird in context but also it was LOUD. And I mean LOUD. My speakes didn’t like it. Neither my ears did.

What are they thinking? „After that ad, they will watch that movie – everybody loves Tinnitus!“?!

yeah i don't get why they've suddenly popped up again, who decides to put them in? and why haven't there arms been broken to stop this happening again?

on a marginally related note how many Gillette blades is too many Gillette blades?

I was about to consider a total boycott of the films they're trying to show us (Due Date is the one I'm getting - don't know about you guys but this one looks dreadful) but maybe we could all at least get together in a bit WipEout group and after getting horrendously drunk go and see it. Maybe then they'll all stop.

Either that or we all buy Wilkinson Sword Hydros for our fathers for Christmas.

Well at least we can claim that the WOHD Cup has real life official sponsors

^ Yea, except for the sponsors are doing the sponsoring in such a way that it would be akin to breaking into a football stadium in the dead of night, plastering their banners on the boards surrounding the pitch and then running away quickly without sharing any of the profits.

I've since re-installed WOHD again and turned off my auto-login to PSN. No more ads.

You should. Everybody should. If everybody who owns a PS3 boycotts every single product / brand that's advertised on the PSN then the advertising will soon stop. Shame it will never happen but I'll do my bit. Due Date, Wilkinson Sword etc. can all f*** off.
