That sounds more like an issue with loud people. I'm not a fan of loud people who seek attention either, especially on the train.

On a slightly related note, did I ever tell everyone about what I heard on the train one day? This guy was with his little kid (3 years old or something), who was asking all those little kids questions - what's that? why's the sky blue? why this? why that? - then all of a sudden, he comes out with, "Daddy, is that woman a pwostitrute?" I couldn't believe it, and assumed at first that I must have misheard, but I turned my head in the toward the part of the platform where the kid was pointing and there was a woman with a shortish skirt and boots on. OMG! Then the Dad confirmed it by making a disapproving remark about her attire and comparing her to someone else they know who he obviously didn't approve of.
I was so shocked, especially as I have a memory of being about 10 before I first heard the word. Two girls in my class were having an argument, with one calling the other a prostitute and me thinking, "My Dad's a prostitute, what's wrong with that?". Turns out my Dad was a Protestant. Then there's me telling my parents at the dinner table I studied e-lesbian history in class that day. Stupid Elizabethans! Happy days!
