My TV has input lag, too. 32"1080p Philips. It's very minimal, but in some games it bothers me a lot. I think I've never had any major difficulties playing WipEout, but maybe that's why I input left, right when I'm still on the ground and the last left when I'm in the air to perform a barrel roll XD

The best way is to play maybe Rock Band or something like that. Fighting games are also very difficult to play and you can see easily if you have an input lag. Or just play a game 15 mins with HDMI and then 15 mins with SCART cable. The SCART cable has no lag, only HDMI's do (not sure if it's the TV or the cable...) so if you see a difference between the action and the input on the HDMI, you have lag
