I managed to beat my record so I'm happy. I got a 29.69 - 5 BR - 12 pads? - FURY. I did it the old school way with a boost/BR at the start. Judging by the SPs for Yeldar and Rezatron they are doing it different.

I tried a mixture of all sorts

    Currently it's:

    1. BoostBR over line
    2. Mini-BR of first hump
    3. Mini-BR over speedpads (Can't do this one)
4, 5. Double BR in the tunnel
6, 7. Boost onto bridge and BR again after/during landing on said bridge thingy. (Can't do 7)
    8. BR off overpass onto final straight.

That's basically phaeton's method from waaaaaaaay back

It's weird though because if I do this method in TT an can't get anywhere near my ghost which is doing it the 'classic' way.

I think it would be faster to boost out of the tunnel with a BR and then do a decent double/triple BR onto the overpass

never done a triple though myself... doubles are hard enough

and I've never done either BR off the first hump to boot. /failure

Aaahhhh memories... I will give it a go later today

Also, i have an idea for next week challenge.
Could we try: (Nice track, Phantom, Icaras, No BR's!) ??
I just remember how different and fun was to try to beat Zico without BR's!
Completely new strategy, trying new boost locations, perfecting lines...

We don't have any official "non-BR" Speed Lap Records, it could be something new

I would like a non br challenge.some br are just way too hard for normal mortals.many br's are sl specific and have little value in a real race due too risk a nd energy cost .

That would be a cool idea phaeton_pl, maybe every now and then. I wouldn't have a problem with it. It would be interesting to see the difference in times without BRs.

Or make it compulsory to do both?

Or something like, you have to do the normal SL challenge to enter a time for the non-BR challenge...something like that.

A non-BR challenge would be welcome but would only be good to do on a set number of tracks IMO. BR fest tracks like Sebenco (both ways) would be terrible for a non-BR challenege because of all the changes of elevation/drops. Generally any track with drops wouldn't be great to do. Tracks like Moa, Talon, Metropia, Modesto (only rev) would work well though. Just my opinion though.

Ooh I thought Sebenco would be a great choice

It's not just lines you have to worry about, it's pitch n that as well. Besides, we still do endurance races on these tracks and you can only do 6BRs in 20 laps on those

The only tracks that I'd suggest not to use would be TJ and TJR because they're awful. It's the only place I can fall asleep and whilst staring through the red mist

A non-BR challenge could be done, but I think that it would die out pretty quickly.

I managed 30.13, 15SP's, 4BR's. Missed the overpass BR on this run, so a 29.xx is certainly possible for me.

I've noticed that although I'm hitting more speed pads, I'm still slower overall. Am I taking a wrong route or something?

I'm guessing you used the same method as me but without the boost BR start? Do that and 29.xx is yours.

edit: sorry never mind missed the part about the missed bridge BR

Sorry Phantom, neither of my siblings have PSN accounts. Just list them as challengers 003 and 004 instead.

Does anyone have any advice in how to start-boost-br? Hellfire's video just says to tilt the nose down then up, but I get the feeling there's more to it than that? Heeelp anyone?

In other news, anyone interested in a Piranha team profile this week?

Nose down, Nose up, boost. That's all there is I'm afraid...

Just remember not to boost until the nose is fully up, not during the process of raising the nose.

yeah, there is one big detail to add to that - you need to boost after you tilt up to get the boost, and then br with the air you make
