Just uploaded my first video from the April 2010 Avalon event. Sorry its taken such a long time - damn real world stuff has been interfering.

Finally figured out how to make it widescreen, so no more black lines down the sides. The race itself came out a bit quiet for some reason, so you might have to turn your volume up a little.

At the time of writing this, the video is still processing, so the quality should improve when its done.

EDIT: Processing's done. The quality is much better if you watch it in 720p - it's not true HD though - I kind of "cheated" with the HD thing, but it seems good enough for YouTube.

Did you upscale the video to 1280x720? I thought that would've decreased quality as the SD output is something around 720x576 for PAL. I suppose youtube plays 720p videos at a higher bitrate, so you avoid the usual heavy compression you get at 480p.

I captured it in the usual 720x576 format then made it into an MPEG file with 16:9 aspect ratio and 1280x720, so I kind of cheated a bit, hence the HD not actually being proper HD

I think the best results might come from adding a black border. WipEout videos suffer a bit because they're fast and action packed. With a black border to take it up to 720p you would get the increased bit rate of the HD option, almost none of which would (presumably) be taken by having the black border there. So I guess you'd essentially get a 480p video but with a higher bitrate and therefore better quality....I think....maybe. But don't quote me on that.
