We bought a flat in 2000 for about £48,000. It was just at the right time as the property market exploded soon afterwards. We sold it a year later and made about £15,000 on it. We would have no chance now of starting up as that same flat is worth more than 3 times as much. Must be hard to find the money to get anything decent.

I would be tempted to live in the rougher parts just to get a start. Once you have a mortgage and are paying it, banks are more likely to lend you more, enabling you to make a move to somewhere a bit better.

Or move to the North. It's grim but it's cheaper (just).

What is it with people trying to walk and show off in snow? I mean, I see guys walking like they own England, only to slip and land flat on their fleshy partitions snow and ice is dangerous man. I see young kids in crappy cars, pulling donuts in car parks - it aint that hard to skid a car in the snow is it? or what about the government - who fails to acknowledge that winter does indeed bring snow. When will they pull their fingers out and get the salt on the roads?

... Me, well - when in the snow, I walk like a hunchback, or like someone who has sharted (inbetween a schitt and a fart, involves wetwess ), I find it helps with balance, lowers my centre of gravity so to speak... oh, shoot - Speaking of gravity makes me think of the taboo subject, not to be discussed here on this thread - so I'll be off then... ciao...

I've been running/jogging on the ice and snow for the past few days, I've yet to fall over on anything other than a fresh, powdery snow 30deg+ gradient slope (going up), I guess I've just got a good sense of balance...

What's with the plugs all over the world? I saw an Apple product that is basically a charger with removable plugs for different plugs all over the world. That make me think: Why can't there be just one type of electrical plug that any electrial thing works anywhere?

Whose plug gets picked as the universal standard? No country wants (neither can they afford) to spend the money needed to change all local infrastructure to a global standard.

They should had thought of that before they were putting the plugs in the first place.

Universal adaptors should be more readily avaliable. I've got one for my PSP (it's Japanese) and the adaptor is at least twice the size of the actual plug. Aussie plugs are huuuge!

Well, the healthy food part isn't hard, it's just the time part I'll have trouble with.

I heard comfreys pretty good for it though, that or more ice, but I don't think I'll be wanting ice near me again for a little while. Hehe.

Right now I want the ice far away, not flying through the air as sleet the way it was this morning. In effing FLORIDA. SLEET. It's not right.

My Mum would always tell me to put Arnica cream on bruises.

lol lance, sleet's fine, its the ice and the hailstones you have to worry about.

I slipped on the ice twice on thursday, so I've got bruises on both arms and my right hip. I wouldn't mind, but I sleep on my right side and I can't sleep on a bruise, so I've got a few uncomfortable nights still to go until that bruise goes. Ah well eh.

Hailstones we get in summer, sometimes associated with small tornados. One year we got golfball-sized hail twice in one week in two different parts of the metro area only a few miles apart. There were many cars going around town covered with golfball-sized dents all over the top surfaces. A couple of automobile dealers had almost their entire stock ruined this way.
