The Opera 9.5 and derivative 9.6 were intentionally intermediate builds [codenamed Kestrel] between the earlier series and the intended new 'Peregrine' series being released as 10.0, which is much better than 9.5/6, which is the one series of Opera that I've never adopted as my standard browser.
