I know how you feel silverfox. Exact same thing happened me 2 days ago for the second time. Oh how i wish i had backed it up. I lost well over 500 badges.

JJ I feel more for you than me. Last time I saw, you were on rank 39 or around that anyway. I was a mere rank 26 but its just the principle of the thing.

Not really sure how to back up but as I've got feck all to back up its not really applicable.

The only positive I can find is that all my high score records are still on there and having to go through unlocking the campaign again gave me a few new PBs.

I raced JJ today and he still had his rank (40) so not sure if you lose it if your data goes. That may be kept on a seperate server and not tied with your PSN account.

I kept my rank and my trophies. And my online records so it's not the end of the world' it's just very frustrating. :- (oh yeah and its 41 now )

silverfox073 (and any others worried about losing their savegames; not the online login corruption issue): To backup your savegames just plugin your PSP (if you have one) or a USB flash drive into one of the USB ports. Go the the PS3's XMB/Games column, choose the savegame file you want to backup, hit the triangle button, then choose Copy from the menu to the right. At that point, choose where you want to copy the savegame data to (PSP's MemoryStick Pro Duo or USB flash drive).

I backup to my PSP's memory stick after EVERY gaming session, and fairly regularly (i.e. every week or two) back that file up to my Mac Mini's internal HD, which is further backed up on my external HD connected to the Mac Mini running TimeMachine via OSX 10.5. No way in hell I'd want to lose my save game data. I'd probably have a major hard time re-earning some of the many campaign medals that took alot of work. I don't worry about the 44+ ghost data files, just my Wipeout HD and SOCOM: Confrontation save game files. I even have ghosts turned off in Pure and Pulse, cause since I'm far from being the greatest racer, they take up alot of wasted space that could be better used for other important files. Now, if I was as good a racer as most of the pilots in this fine establishment, I might actually consider saving those ghosts and uploading them.

"Just one more race" - It's already 2 o'clock in the morning and you're sure to just race only a couple races more as long as some good pilots are online, anyway you stay awake until 6.

"Greedy Bastard" - Absorb accidently a turbo or quake, because you want to get both weapon pads in the second tunnel on Vineta K Reverse.

How do you get this stupid ponsy precious or whatever the **** its called trophy? I got 5 perfect laps in a phantom race on Moa Therma and came 1st. Do i have to not absorb and use any weapons as well??

That's what it says on the tin. No energy loss and no absorption in any way, shape or form. If you're playing weapons on, you have to use them all, can't absorb any

That's not entirely true... I tried to get prestine a while ago. You must not absorb at any time during the race, that's the important part. Anyway, race started, I did not absorb any weapons, just kept the one I got first which was leach beam. On the final lap I did get a shield reduction, I think I touch the side in a corner but since I was at the back of the pack I just fired leach beam on the dude in front of me, absorbed up to 100%, finished the race and got pristine. Most easy way to get it is to enter a newb race on Venom and just cruise at the back of the pack.

I think that the correct explanation for "28. Shielder" is "use the most shields in a race". Should not be mistaken with the "shield tactician" which is "protect yourself from the most damage with shields in a race".

Yeah sorry, bit of a poor wording on my part. Simply trying to get across that you can only use weapons, not absorb them, and I did forget about the Leech Beam. Worth knowing

The "Wipeouch" badge - you get that by tripping over furniture whilst running back from the the fridge or toilet to catch a race before it starts.

No thrust, no control
destroy yourself by hitting a wall, drifting into it because your engine is stopped after you were hit by any weapon.
maybe it's the only way to kill yourself with pilot assist.

anyway, i got the blue screen trophy,
i now know that i may not use autoP after a barrel roll on Ubermall, the AP just go over the adds when exiting the mall (in phantom)
fortunately, i can handle this part by myself now...
