Hey, cool vids! Thanks for sharing these, it brought back some nice memories. Actually, WO 2097 was the first of the series that I played, and up until HD, the only one as well. The demo of the game was bundled with the PSX (alongside other demos like Crash Bandicoot, Destruction Derby 2, Tekken 2 and some crappy Formula 1 sim), and I must've replayed the one track that was available there a hundred times, either to eliminate as many computer opponents as possible, or to get better lap times. Later on I rented the game, but the one week I had it for wasn't enough for me to unlock Piranha via the challenge (I think...).

Maybe I should dig out the good ol' PSX once again and take that demo disc for another spin, would be funny to see the sheer speed of 2097 next to the 1080p glory of HD.

Naw, get a copy from ebay; the demo doesn't let you run in Phantom. :) Same here, btw, only I played the PC demo again and again and again - in software mode! For some reason, the final game absolutely required a 3DFX accelerator and so I got one. WipEout is the only series that sells systems for me. Very reliably so. *g*
Stin, your videos... don't do that! I was so close to playing 2097 again last night - when I actually had to get to bed! Only thanks to many years of practicing absolute self-control did I manage to convince my body to not go looking for the game. ;-)

I've watched this video and realised just how much this game relies on memory of the tracks - when I have time I should play through this again.
