Hey guys!
Fresh Wipeout HD convert here, just got the game a few days ago. Now, I haven't played racing games since Wipeout 2097 for the PSX and Motorhead for the PC (both of which can only be found in museums now, I guess
), but I remembered how much fun I had with them back then so I decided to give HD a try.
Of course this means I'm probably going to have the worst lap times of all the forum-goers for a long time (RPG-s don't exactly require you to have quick reflexes and fast wiggles on the analog stick...), but that won't stop me from trying to get some silverware (i.e. trophies) now and then.
Anyway, before I drift even further off-topic: one of the aforementioned oldie racers, Motorhead, actually has a brilliant soundtrack (and one that goes so well with WipEout that you'd think it was originally made for that game), made by a swedish composer called Olof Gustafsson. If you can get a hold of an original copy of the game, you'll find that any CD ripping utility will recognize the tracks as CD audio (with the exception of track 1, which is of course the game). If not, you might bump into the guy's website via Google and get them there, though I haven't searched for it in like 6 years, so it might not be available anymore.
Another recommended album is Millenium Fever by Apollo 440. Great songs that really match the fast-paced action on screen.
Oh, and one more song that deserves an entry here is Ride the Comet by Ayreon (album 01011001), I just got to Zone 42 while listening to it! Currently I can't imagine getting anywhere near 75, but back when I tried this zone mode I couldn't imagine getting two perfect laps in a row either, so...
