    Yiiihaaa! That is wonderful news (the steam punk piranha skin)! Thanks for the link. It is great music. I didn’t hear about them until now. Did you listen to it while you made the skin? I found some old songs that appeared during the first WW and it sure helps me to get some ideas for my project. It is almost finished but I still have some details to settle.
    Also thanks for the photos; it is a marvelous skin but I still think the Rusted Iron Feisar is your best.
    As for my stupid idea about the classic, alternate and eliminator skins well, dhaaa!!, you’ll have to excuse me; placing pixel after pixel makes all sort of thoughts come into my mind and not all of them go through the filter of reason, sorry .
    …….my god! only thinking that a monster like that could have been made about 100 years ago makes my skin shiver. “Good job. What is next ?”

    Thanks for this. I must say that this is the best skin produced to date (my opinion) despite all the very high quality productions from the rest. Your design sense is amazing. Plenty of very innovative designs from all directions actually.

    Well here it is my second skin.

    It is like this since yesterday. I wanted to ad some dirt and chips in the paint but they just don’t look right so I let it like it is.(AXX, Dogg Thang, do you guys think you can give me a hand ? )
    What is interesting is that initially I wanted to make a British Racing Green Icaras as a tribute to Studio Liverpool, it soon turned into a RAF air fighter which in the end turned to become the old I.A.R.80. I have to say that the rereading of “Dogfight” by William Gibson had its share of influence but it seemed like the shape of the Icaras had chosen the patterns by it self , in a way it self build. I just can’t wait for the Icaras pack so I can see it ingame!!
    P.S.: supersocks do you think you could make an Icaras with this pattern the way you made the Monarch ?

    That's superb - I've run out of patience for doing new skins for now. I've wasted a couple of lunch hours messing around but coming up with nothing due to lack of inspiration. Cant wait for the start of the IndyCar season and the Indy 500 because some of the cars will have superb liveries that I can borrow from.

    Yeah, Egg mentioned this himself. You can really see it with the EG.X if you compare what it looks like in-game compared with the skin as seen in the editor - the text in the editor isn't anywhere near as legible.

    i must have missed that mention, but it's definitely good to know...
    I can't imagine that it'd be that hard to release a variant of the online editor with separate palette support for some of us who optimize heavily and mainly just use the copy+paste methods, but, then again, is it really worth it... only one of my test skins looked particularly bad when dithered down, but i'm used to dealing with limited colors in most of my pixel designs outside of wipeout.

    I think there's a technical reason with the editor why it's kept to 16 colours and I wouldn't imagine that will change. Still, as you say, it's rare that causes a problem. I'm often quite amazed at what people can do with just the 16 colours.

    It's just for simplicity, really. We thought people might get confused - you have 48 colours, but each quarter of the texture is limited to its own 16. Remember, not everyone is familiar with the 'language' of bitmaps.

    If you look at the 48 colours, there aren't really that many distinct shades. Most of the colours are repeated, you just have a few more available for anti-aliasing.

    I like the way that you can change one colour to another and change all the parts of the ship in that colour at the same time!

    Most of my 'efforts' are colour inversions. Easy, but nice, especially with Mirage and Harimau, even if I can't use them.
