Link mode support with vanilla Wip3out?

So I have a serial link cable for my two playstations. I was wondering if the original Wipeout 3 supports linking two consoles. The compatible games list I've been able to find only show Special Edition as supporting link play. I'm in the States so I hope that's not the case.

Cheat Codes
To activate a cheat enter its corresponding code as a Default Name.

Yes it works. You need to type in "link" in your default name and the option will appear in the options menu I believe
