Avalon: Typhoon - From Makana with Love

Well, this is a reckoning for me. This could end up being my last Avalon depending on how DP and kanar think I run this particular example of our weekends of WipEout racing. There was no match in January mostly due to the WipEout HD Cup but also partly due to my mounting schoolwork and a lack of time to do very much with it. But I'm back, and I may run another Av event in late February as well if I can pull it off. I haven't forgotten this and how so many people seemed to enjoy it.

One thing that seems to have been popular are multi-player friendly tournaments, though it seems a few people seem to only stumble into them. I've added slots below for you to mention your interest in participating in a 4v4. Ask me for an invite to the Avalon Lounge chatbox if necessary, and hang around there in the evenings. The 4v4s tend to be the last event of the night, so you can probably expect them from 10:30 GMT onwards, maybe later.

I'll be hosting various races, but one of my limitations is that I'm on an SD TV and it's difficult to read off the lap times. If you win a race, please record your times for the purposes of bothering me with updating the leaderboard. The only times I will make a habit of recording are the endurance races, and don't worry - I genuinely will be hosting some of those. Just don't run screaming out the room when the counter goes up to 20.

I'm once again throwing the possibility open for Zone Battles this Avalon, though how many I'll actually host will be a moot point. I would imagine the better Zoners will host a room together, perhaps Triboy and his posse will set a nice one up.

I doubt there'll be a home meeting this time, but if you want to go to the WipEout museum or even if TwitchySpitfire's still got a party going at his place, I'm sure that can be arranged.

Remember, newer pilots are always welcome, and older pilots need to be there to teach the younger whippersnappers a lesson. If one of these 4v4s could be old hands versus hotshots, I reckon that could be an interesting arrangement. >3

Avalon Competitions (Phantom Class)

Classic Grand Prix - 2x 5 Lap Phantom Race - 1 with weapons, 1 without - Pilot Assist off - Barrel Roll On - Weapon Hints Off

Endurance Races (Weapons On or Off) - 20 laps - 1 race per track - Pilot Assist Off - Barrel Roll On - Weapon Hints Off

Green Races - 12 Lap Phantom Race, but you are only allowed to use Turbo, Autopilot and Shield - everything else must be absorbed - Pilot Assist Off - Barrel Roll On - Weapon Hints Off

Zone Battles - Max Target is 40 on all Non-Pure 4 Tracks, Target 55 on all Pure-4 and Anulpha Pass Tracks

Tournaments - 8 Players in a 4 v 4 arrangement. Players will fly all 12 tracks with Weapons On in either forward order (Vineta K -> Tech De Ra) or in reverse order (Tech De Ra Reverse -> Vineta K Reverse). @FEISAR, what Chinese new year is it? And sorry to hear you won't be there.

@jasmine, I've nothing against Flash or Rapier happening during these events, but I won't set them up nor take records. Mostly because I'm lazy and I don't want to have to set up brand new threads in the already stuffed first post for Flash records. But ACE-FLO has all the ability to make Avalon-style Flash races.

dont think ace can set up a flash avalon event to well cos he is banned from woz..kinda makes it tricky posting in the avalon flash section...

As far as I was aware, Avalon is open to all, not just Zoners. ^^ If ACE or anyone else wants to run flash events over Avalon in the Avalon format I'm not going to stop them. It's all about enjoying the game after all.

And shall I put the Pussycat Pilots down for the 4v4 on Friday Night then?
