Problem: auto acceleration
Hi I've just installed wipeout 2097 on my PC and configured my playstation gamepad properly, but in the game my ship has auto acceleration, I have no need to push any button to accelerate, but I hate that. What can I do ?
Thanks.

it seems to be a bug with the playstation joypad drivers. it happened to me as well, I now use an xbox360 controller instead.
the psx axis issue affects other titles too. my flatmate was using my adapter for some game on his machine, but it cause his car to lurch to the right in trackmania nations, which is a game where he does not use the joypad

i think that when i used to play wipeout 2097 on the ps1 it always used to turn slightly to the right or the left, but i think it was the controller not the game, if that is any help

lion, can you direct me to the driver you use to run the 360 controller on your PC? I just can't get mine to work.

I use the microsoft drivers from here but there are some modified drivers that were originally made for the old xbox controlpad adapters that are meant to be better (native deadzone adjustment etc)

since I own an xbox360 and therefor already have a supreme gamepad that is also compatible with my pc, I am definitely not gonna buy another pc-specific controller (I don't play that much on the pc anyway).
thanks for the tip tho.

the PC version IS the xbox360 version
just it comes packaged with a driver cd
el: what happens when you hook up the controller? what does it detect as? what device(s) does it appear as in device manager? do the drivers just not get used at all?

My controllers do the same thing. I was using the old analog joystick(that huge one). It actually worked well. This is what I initially used for wipeout until I found out the analog feature was not supported for wipeout. Funny that this old stick works with the PC version though, except that damn autogas.

lion: after I install the drivers, I restart my system and then plug in the controller, but it automatically opens a window asking me to direct to the driver, but in the folder that says 'xbox360 controller for windows' there is no file that meets the reqirements of the setup.

you might need to say "I will select a driver from the list" and de-select the digitally signed box

uhm, yes, I know that
but the files in the 'xbox360 controller for windows' folder don't seem to be usable...

sorry if I seemed condescending, but it's often the simple things that get overlooked will find the other driver links when I get home
