    Default Button Configuration

    I have been experimenting with various button configurations.
    My current configuration is as follows:

    X Accelerate
    R1 Fire Weapon
    O Change View
    L1 Drop Weapon
    L2 Left Air Brake
    R2 Right Air Brake
    Square Hyperthrust
    Δ Rear View

    I like having the weapon buttons on the shoulder buttons, but using square for Hyperthrust is awkward, especailly when you hit 25% energy and it stops working.
    Any configuration suggestions would be appreciated.
    Also does anyone use a neGcon for racing? If so what settings / configuration do you use?

    X - Accelerate
    O - Hyperthrust
    Square - Rear View
    Δ - Change View
    L1 - Drop Weapon
    L2 - Left Airbrake
    R1 - Fire Weapon
    R2 - Right Airbrake

    This is the best setup, and the only one that works, why? Your thumb doesn't leave the X button, because the O is conveniently placed.

    :
    Dimension and Lance that is indeed the way forward with the neg.

    Skipper, on a Dual Shock you could try:

    X- go
    L2 and R2 airbrakes.
    L1 hyperthrust
    R1 fire weapons.

    this leaves drop weapon as harder to access, on circle square or triangle but you can get rid of most weapons you don`t want just by firing/activating them, although this can be distracting (for me anyway) as for some reason I sometimes can`t stop myself watching the rockets fly off into the wall or space.

    On Pure I use triangle for go which means I can easily drop the back of my thumb onto circle to fire and square to discard without letting off the power. Maybe something like this could work for wipeout 3 but I`ve never tried it. Maybe you could try as above with triangle for go and circle for drop weapon.

    Default number 4000, trivial though it is. :D

    .
    i've become so used to my neGcon configuration that last night when i played WO3 with DS-type controller, i used triangle for go, circle for hyperthrust, x for drop, square for use pickup. i assigned changeview to R1, the rest as default

    Thanks everyone.
    I like the idea of using the triangle (DS) or B (neGcon) for thrust.
    Rocking your thumb back to circle (DS) or A (neGcon) for hyperthrust feels natural.
    I'll give some of these configuartions a go, and let you know how I get on.

    Boggle.
    I just use the DualShock... but all I do from the default config is swap the fire and drop buttons. I find it easier / more comfortable to reach the square button while still holding x - I press x with the inside of my thumb knuckle/joint, rather than the end of my thumb.

    I use the left stick for steering.
    x = go
    square = fire
    circle = drop
    triangle = camera
    r1 = thrust
    l1 = look back
    r2/l2 = airbrakes
