Anyone play Pure online? It's not as good as infastructure would be, but it works.

I play it frequently on lunch breaks at work and at home using a powerbook, a mac mini, and my 10.4 OSXS Raid system...
basically get the newest xlink kai gui release, plug the mac onto ethernet - the backbone you will connect the psp to the internet on can NOT be the same as the one you connect to the psp with- thus a laptop connecting to the internet on airport cannot also route for psp.
    disable airport
next, once you verify the mac is online, launch kaidosxmenu
pull the menu down to preferences
set sniff device to en1 (airport card- en0 is ethernet which obviously the psp can't connect through)
say ok to close the preferences.
next, put wipeout pure into multiplayer mode and the wifi light on the psp should light,
enable airport on the mac and connect to the computer to computer network PSP_________ (varies based on each psp)
now, start kaid via the menu.
Now, Open Gui Amaryllis, and connect to the localhost address 127.0.0.1 as defaulted.
now create an account and enter it in the connection prompt, and you should now be connected to the xlink server system.
click on the consoles tab in amaryllis to make sure your psp is listed as a little red globe, if it is, you can go find an arena, or just idle in the lobby and play someone you know is there... it's technically best to go to the wipeout pure arena to go find someone, but due to the difficulty in understanding kaid, it's pretty empty.
i go by the username "defor" fyi.

Sorry for the messiness of this post.. writing it up on my way home...
anyway- Give it a shot, and it should be pretty straightforward...
in 10.4 kernel panics seem to happen during the initial setup sometimes, so jsut reboot and try again... it'll eventually work. (even works pretty well behind the college i work for's firewall and packetshaper.

So far i've only gotten the panic once on 2 separate machines, and only during the initial setup- it was a harmless panic however- most likely due to the sudden latching onto the port for sniffing by kaid.

I just meant it as something to watch out for in case you had unsaved work open.

Funny you mention him/her. I just played that person earlier today and got my ass whooped as well.

I go toe-to-toe with him for a few laps then on the last I make some stupid mistake and end up 20 seconds behind, etc. etc.

Someone from here needs to get on xlink and help us! lol

    .
two successive posts by the same person are fine if they're several hours apart and say different things.

the really bad form of double or multiple posting is to post the same thing in two or more different threads of the forums

Hey. I play regularly on Kai, too.

wowawa is hella hard. He's an AZN, what would you expect? I've beaten him a couple of times, but he's beaten me about 5 times as much. Great competition.

My XLink tag is the same as my Screename here.

Man, what time today are they gonna put out the next Gamma Pack? *restless*

As soon as I get online at college, I'm going on. I need some good competition, you can only thrash the AI so many times before you need more.
