    Default Hori N64 Mini Pad - New Life for WipEout 64?

    Developed late into the N64's life span and released exclusively in Japan, the Hori Mini Pad is considered a rarity, and seems to excel in racing games. Would a controller such as this help breath new life into WipEout 2097's beloved cartridge-based cousin?

    Alternatively, what about custom controllers such as these two? (More for their ergonomics, the dual-stick controls would require extensive ROM hacking)

    Or the use of Pelican's Tilt Pak? Would this allow the fastest and heaviest ships exceed even the FEISAR's legendary handling?

    I believe I've seen your custom controller before. It's a small world.

    For Wipeout 64 enthusiasts, I can see the Hori mini pad being a worthy investment. I suppose the only issue would be finding enough Wipeout 64 fans to revive the scene.

    Also I can't imagine that the Tilt-pak was any good at all. In 2016 we still haven't perfected tilt controls, so I imagine something similar made at the turn of the century wasn't too great.

    Well... Asphalt 8 on the iPhone has pretty good motion steering.

    Anyways, from what I've heard, the steering on the Tilt Pak was very good, the problems came in the form of the rumble feature requiring batteries (like with the old Rumble Pak) and the fact it couldn't be used as a regular Controller Pak (like the old Rumble Pak). Also, it was introduced late into the N64's life by a 3rd-party company, so it didn't really have marketing on its side.

    Here are another two controllers that might go great with WipE'out'' 64;
