To be clear, something strictly WipEout related will be announced in a few weeks, but it’s NOT a game, and apparently not a book, nor a model.

He mentioned that it's much better than a book... Is it the once planned movie or some series set in WipEout universe? I always loved the lore and the settings and thought it would be great to see it in something more than games. Anyway, I just hope that whatever it is, it will shine some light onto the franchise once more. Ace Combat recently came back from the dead, maybe WipEout can too.
WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!
I haven't been this hyped for years!:hyper:hyper:hyper
Well.... a wow factor of 11/10, it’s not a new game but it’s better than a book...
I don’t think it is a movie, but what about a TV show ??! Jeff Bezos loves the sci-fi show The Expanse and it’s one of the reasons Amazon bought it from Syfy to produce new seasons... maybe he’s also a fan of WipEout ? :D
He's replied that it's
Not a Book
Not a Model
Not a TV show
Not a Game
What's that leave you ?
Since Sony now owns the IP to Wipeout, I'm guessing whatever it is would have had to have their blessing, or even instigated by them.
Totaku didn’t seem to struggle getting the license for their models. And people like Shaun Mooney have no issue distributing (selling?) fan art using their IP.
Other things it could be: merch, comics, any type of fan art.
He mentioned "side project", "not from me". So yeah, any form of fan art.
I think it's something bigger than the fan art. He said "You've seen nothing like this" and replied "Nope. Way cooler" when asked if it's a book. I don't think he would have said that in case of fan art. However, he also commented upon someone saying it might be a Netflix or Disney+ series (specifically mentioning these services) that "That's so wildly ambitious that I'm worried you'll be disappointed.", so he muddied the water quite a bit. Comic or some branded product (drones, if they can't be called a model) maybe? Documentary? I really think we will have to just wait and see.
I was also thinking some sort of remote controlled hover/AG craft, but if that is considered a model ?
A guy in the USA did have a working one of these several years ago, but for whatever reason it sort of fizzled out.

Since it's not a book, a model, a TV show or a game, and it requires 4-5 weeks of preparation, it should at least be something more grandiose than just fanart.
Maybe an animated short, or a customized manned quadcopter? Sony's been experimenting with making movies out of game franchises they own, so there's also that possibility.
A short movie makes sense, with a bit more production value than your typical fan art. But the term "side project" leads me to believe it won’t be coming from Sony.
Maybe it's the music re-released for the 25th anniversary?
THIS is certainly interesting, especially if you are aware of who missmolotov is :hyper Wonder if it's connected to Nick Burcombe's cryptic tweet...
Are you talking about Z-RACE ?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1343750/ZRace/
Riiiiight...
So you don't know who missmolotov is, and her connection to wipEout, I guess?
I do, still a bit of a stretch.
We'll see ;)
I'm guessing Ami?
stevie 🤔
Well missmolotov's Sony site has had little movement since 2018, and last visit here was May 2018
And Ami Nakajima's hasn't been much better, looking at her Playstation activity the other day from a friends list is it's been sparse period [plus last visit here was April 2013]
Maybe a Wipeout themed controller?
11/10
Not a game.
Yeah, this better not be Wipeout Funko Pops or some ****, because I can't think of anything short of a game I'd give "11/10".
Maybe a documentary about Psygnosis?
"strictly WipEout", the man said :p
Seeing as wipEout recently turned 25, and other games have recently gotten a similar feature, my best guess is a Netflix documentary about the making of the original game and all the marketing, music, and design involved. I'd love that.
It'd be sick to see a collectible of some kind like a helmet
Looks like tomorrow is gonna be the day!
Woo, sick! Thanks for the heads-up.
It is... a car livery. Cool.
Livery looks fresh, but on the other hand, messing up a FEISAR livery would be quite the feat :P
Was hoping a bit that it would be something to throw my money on lmao
This BAC Mono R with a F.E.I.S.A.R. livery would be a great addition to Gran Turismo 7 in order to accompany the original BAC Mono that's already coming there, and also as a WipEout-themed homage in the game.
Hrm. I mean, I can see how this is a big thing for Nick, but for me it's just... meh? I'm not into cars, and I can't afford this particular one either. That said, I'd love a AG-sys themed electric motorcycle!
Yeah, i totally thought this was gonna be something we could all throw our money at, but that is a nice looking car and very impressive work, i can see why the old team were hyped for it and to share it with us. I was in no way disappointed, anything WipEout is always welcome. I would love to see some pictures of it in the wild. The owner needs to go to a track day with a photographer sometime in the future!
And yeah, someone at Sony better be sneaking that thing into GT7.
