Third? wow. No, phantom will be unaffected.
I just looked at your matrix, and you should gain many ranks in the overall
rankings, as deserved.

Connavar, according to the current overall index formula, are each of the game modes weighted evenly? If so, perhaps you could alter the formula to favor certain modes over others. I'm sure we all agree that a top Speed Lap or Time Trial record is much prestigious and difficult to obtain than a Single Race record.
I'm thinking:
1a) Time Trial
1b) Speed Lap
2) Multiplayer
3a) Zone
3b) Detonator
4) Single Race
or switch 2 and 3 (or make 2 and 3 weigh equal, not sure right now). What do you guys think?
I think single race is easier too, but only because it's less competitive. I've done some single races recently and easily obtained good scores, which have improved my rank a lot. So I can look at it and see that really, I'm not better than a lot of the people below me in the rankings who actually have barely done any single races at all. But if more people took part in singles and treated it as a legitimate game mode instead of shunning it, then it would be more competitive and wouldn't be so easy to get good points from it. I think it would be better to encourage each other to compete than make competing in it less worthwhile.
Multiplayer is a bit different, because it's heavily affected by the internet connection of the individual, and those he or she is racing against. I often feel like I'm at a disadvantage in terms of getting good records online because my ping is at least twice that of others. But at the end of the day, the more time I spend on multiplayer, the more chances I have of getting good times, so I don't mind if it's weighted equally either.
I do not have a strong opinion, but, if it matters, I would put Zone and Detonator above multiplayer and single race. The former are modes that are exclusively designed to finish with quantitative scores while the latter are primarily designed to give an ordinal result (first place, second place, etc.).
Although I do wonder a bit about the formula for Zone. The pure four tracks have rather skewed index distributions for the very top ranks, especially Corridon 12 and Pro Tozo. You can be ranked in the top 20 and still not break 500. It may be that these tracks are not as competitive, as SR said, but it does make me curious if Zone mode naturally moves to a less proportional score distribution than times for TT and SL.
Good ideas there ... but of course speed lap players will want more weight for
SL and zone players more weight for zone, so right now I'm gonna leave them
all equal, in a first step I'm going to improve the interpolation formula to better
reflect players' skills.
Yeah maybe I should modify the formula for Zone, originally I found the
parameters by giving 1000 points to the best player and a good score like 800
or 900 to a good or very good player etc. Now if a good Zone result scores 500
points only, then there is something wrong indeed!
So close to my first ever SL Phantom Rank 1... Joint on Talons Junction with AkFurtif on 21.74.
Swear ill be dead long before i ever get a 1st :)
Joint first is still first. ;) I don't understand the number vs. rank though. You are number one, but rank 2. Sort by points and it puts you first. Maybe because you have less pads, but then shouldn't you be rank 1? It's weird.
i'll try to beat that for avoiding those rank/number issues :twisted
...but there are many weeks i'm trying that :brickwall
