perhaps if players fail to play matches in the further rounds those already eliminated may get a secon chance in some sort of playoff..would be good and allow a top player who got eliminated due to being matched up with another top player a chance of a comeback...

There is a waiting list of players wanting to play in the cup. Players who do a no-show are put out of the cup and the first player in the waiting list is matched with the other player.
However, I'm not entirely sure that's fair if you get eliminated to get back into the waiting list. After all it means you can get a lot of shots at winning the prizes and the podium.
If you want players to have a second chance at coming back, then you have to create a double elimination tournament. That's a little complex to make function here strictly online without instant messaging.

@jasmin - I don't think that would be fair myself. If you were going to replace the guy who does a no-show, then you'd have to offer the place to the guy who got beat in the round previous first.
As for DD's point about the waiting list. I don't think it would be fair to use the waiting list beyond the first round, for obvious reasons. Could be wrong, but I don't think kanar had planned to use the waiting list after round 1. But I agree on the other point. It's a knockout comp, so we all get 1 shot - all or nothing. :twisted
i think the waiting list is fair for the first round only.it is not fair if its the semi final and someone who has not played get to join it.
in theory but unlikey a person could win the entire competition with only one match.
it would much fairer to select a player who was eliminated from the round previous as they have played their way through to the stage already.
this is my opinion i may be right or wrong its food for thought as i may be likely there will be a drop out in later rounds.luckily it wont be me as im history as soon as andybob catches up with me :)
I agree about the point with the waiting list, it should not be used after the round of 64.
I don't think that players who are eliminated should be allowed a chance back if someone else is unavailable (You were asked to be available enough to enter this tournament.) Yes, it sucks for the person who is eliminated, but it sucks more for the person who won the first round but is eliminated in the second due to a no-show by his normal competitor.
I am hoping there will be no more dropouts and difficulties myself.
Essentially we have a prize pool of 300$ here, maybe more. Come on people! Get motivated!

While I would have loved to go a bit further in the league, I do agree that it would be unfair to allow an eliminated player back in.
I've almost got my match set up with ID-ArsNova. To within an hour at least, once we clean up some time zone confusion.
I really want to get third place in this now actually, just so that I can get my hands on that "legendary sixaxis used by asayyeah, wotan, leungbok & kaori". My current DS3 got no mojo, and feels like it's about to break any second.:eek
i agree that a non show in the second round onwards is a bad thing unfortunatly things happen in real life.
for the player to qualify without a match due to non appearance of their opponent is not very good imo
i think it would be better to get the best eliminated player back in to take the missing players place by way of a playoff
stick all the players eliminated from the previous round into a few rooms and play off to re-enter the missing players place.
yes someone may get a second shot if they are lucky but what about the players like DP89 who got super bad luck and got a matchup from hell in the first round..
yes this sounds more like x-factor than wimbeldon knockout but its fun ..

I messaged my opponent a week ago, no reply. not even had my 1st session yet. also only recently my connection online has been pissing me off. it will either not connect or after a race or two will display the network error. any1 else with these issues?
I just talked to RedScar on Steam, he says he's moved in for school and he just got the internet back up. I reminded him about this so hopefully this will go along just fine soon :)

Good luck Dialgix, 2 hours to go, hope Ichigo woke up at time lol. Guys I read quickly the last pages of the thread, and yeah don't think I'll use the waiting list after round 1. I hope we won't face any withdrawal during the next rounds, and well if it's the case maybe we could think about a way to qualify someone eliminated previously. As Jasmin said, we could set up a quick tourney between some previously eliminated pilots, and qualify the winner to replace a MIA pilot. Well we'll see after round 1 8). Just a thought kanar, considering a lot of people are wanting to play again even though they've been knocked out, why don't I (or someone else) start up another thread which is just for friendly Avalon-style matches? Only players knocked out can participate, it still allows us to have fun playing against friends, and it also means if we need replacements from people we can trust we know which ones are the good players. :D
Sure Challenger, you guys are free to organize a "reservoir dogs" cup for more fun, or anything else, so that we could fix quickly any possible 2nd round or later withdrawal issues with the best suited pilot eh eh.

Ok very important info now, got a message from Ichigo, baaaaaad news; YLOD. Obviously you may underestand I can't activate the waiting list there. So we'll have probably to set what we talked about 1 or 2 pages before in this thread :
The death tourney :twisted. So if you fell during this first round, you'll have a little chance to win Ichigo's seat. I'll keep you tuned guys with further infos, but for now you can already register to this death tourney, which will occur right after round 1 (as you probably understood, it's only opened to the round 1 eliminated pilots)

I'm gonna need to know some things though: is it gonna be a straight up round of 32 tournament (That's a lot of players and a MAJOR setback) or will it be invitational based on seeding or finally will it be for the people who want to fight for that seat to register?

Well I was thinking about that along the road to work this morning, and well we should do that on an invitational basis, and organise "simple" death brigade(s) during next avalon for example. Argh, had to release "unoficially" the info there; Incoming avalon week-end scheduled for sept. 17/18/19. First thing is to know how many people are interested in a second chance. But we're obliged to do that quickly, right after round 1, we can't organise a "cup in the cup" thing, imo. Would be way too much difficult to set up.
