very pretty colour scheme. ;)
very nice :) and a good tip there too, thats what i did on the craft sprites i made, gotta be carefull to not make the colors too different then else it looks like lines there for no reason and doesnt blend as well
Lusshan - That ship looks fantastic. I really like the way that you've combined the colours.... Nice one! :)
I totally botched the Cold War skin. I was trying to convert the green to grey and it just didn't work out. I have been working on it off and on today. Hopefully I will have a decent grey version of the skin soon.
I just finished my AG-SYS skin:)

Its just a little bit modified standart skin:)
Vincent, I'd like to see it. :)
Well, there seemed to be a kind of bandwagon forming, and considering I lack originality or imagination, I have shamelessly jumped right on it.
So here it is, yet another Soviet Russian Qirex:
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...ietQirex-1.jpg
In action -

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...229_002102.jpg
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...229_001950.jpg
It's the first time I've used the original skin as a basis, which is a decision I made mainly because the Qirex 'wings' are such a pain to find the edges on. Also, thanks to the strange wrapping on the 'seams' along the wings, I accidentally created what I think is quite a nice pattern with the stripey bits on the front.
The flat skin, if anyone wants to try it - http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...Highlights.jpg (I've just noticed that when photobucket downsized the bmp file to a jpg, it loses some contrast and so when you paste the image into the skin editor from its jpg ersion, the yellow comes out grey.)
EDIT: I've added links to the flat skins of my previous designs in the relevant posts, too.
EDIT2: Updated the skin with highlights.
Lance, pics when I get home.
Infected, like the Bubble Bobble images on there ;)
That's a really nice skin Vincent. How long did it take you?
I've had a change of heart with regards to my custom skin. I had a bright blue/white Pirahna skin going on but it didn't look right.
I've edited the original Pirahna skin for my new one. I like the colours too much to change them! What do you guys think?

here's a little preview of my "mega" style eg-x. lots of work left to do on it, but I'm quitting for tonight, hahah. I'm using the skin editor only on this...the 1px square is pretty much all I need. the bugginess is really slowing me down, though.
if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate em.
akay thats damn nice :) cool colors too
//qirexaax
stunning as ever! :P do some more!
My first attempt to make a skin:

:D
Hopefully this upload should work a little better:

The skin in the image above is actually a slightly improved version of the one in my previous post, but I couldn't be bothered updating the screenshots etc.
Plus, here's a preview of what I'm working on next, a hand-drawn Da Vinci-style Feisar. It's way off being finished, but just to give you a taster:

Haha, I love the daVinci one - btw, is that a storm trooper?:eek
my mega eg-x is finished, for now. again, if you guys have any suggestions, I'd like to hear them.

the da vinci wip looks really good so far :D cant wait to see it
ive just got a wipeout-skins site up and running now, if anyone can sign up and post there skins for download there to test it that would be awesome :) you upload a thumnail (nice clear shot of the craft) and the full image which should be the flat image for people to download, make sure the preview has mainly the ship in and isnt too wide/tall (200px width maybe)
the url is http://www.wipeout-skins.co.nr cheers:)
Little tip for you guys; use complimentary colours! makes the ship look alot more funky!
Tip for ''swift killer'': The correct spelling for your usage there is 'complementary'. Therefore I cannot compliment your spelling skills on that post.
''Tip''/suggestion for skin creators: Use whatever colours look good to you, not what looks good to someone else. Your own ship, your own agenda. :D
Couldn't agree with you more Lance. I'm fortunate that i really like the Pirahna's original colours, so I decided not to change them!
Lance, I know you don't own the game, but have you had a go at creating a skin? I'd really like to see what everyone can come up with.
@rageagainstgeorge: Nope, I've not tried it. I've thought about doing a skin, but just haven't yet had the right combination of energy, motivation, et cetera.
@egg: Coincidence, eh? I seeeeeeeeee
heres some of myne

bottom 1 some will rekonise if they ever played f-zero
Weeeeell, I've got quite far with it now, and I'm actually really pleased with it in a way, in that the flat bitmap looks really ace (I even crumpled up the paper before I scanned it to make it look aged, not that it shows up :frown:), but it just looks quite lame in game. Basically, I think the style is so different from the game's art and the detail is so small and fiddly that it just looks like it shouldn't be there.
Anyway, here are some screens for you to judge for yourself:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...230_022905.jpg
And the skin, which looks so much better flat:

I think it works quite well:)
Aykay I really like your EG-X, it reminds me of 123Klan colourschemes! Dope:clap
//qirexaax
you scanned the whole skin in? that looks awesome, and very ingenious technique ;)
it kinda reminds me of flying dinosaurs that have those real boney wings
may be AAX found some of da Vincis sketches for an early AG craft? :g
:P perhaps. it would probably have been steam powered, thatd be interesting
Am really loving some of these skins, what an artistic bunch we are here on the zone!! Please tell me how you guys are putting your names on your ships, why can't it be as simple as just copy and paste.....help :?
//dominator
i used the texttool in photoshop and then warped the text or rotated it as needed
Thanks CR4SH3D...I'm a little ignorant with some computer programs, how do I port my skin over to photoshop :?
click the pallette button in the skin editor, then the copy button under that (the skin will be on your clipbooard, jsut paste into another program)
post your skins here on this thread.
how to do? all about it, another thread. right there http://wipeoutzone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4323
Clipboard?? :?
Inspired by lace underwear I saw once, the EG.XXX:

that is super sexy ;)
needs a matching pilot outfit with a female pilot now lol
I should spend more time making the skins I'm working on look good rather than constantly starting new ones, but here's an idea that came to me after I did the Da Vinci Feisar. I've ditched the Waterman Havana ink and replaced it with a pencil and a black biro, I'm quite pleased with the results, still got a couple of things to iron out, though.

Guys, I need your help. I'm creating a clean Piranha skin, but have no idea what to paint on the back of the ship.
Progress so far:
http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/1...anhaue6.th.jpg
Any ideas?
wait, did i play you online, i think ive seen that skin before...
anyways, looks very nice, simple, yet effective. maybe on the back you could add some of those warning sripes and such. :)
