Again - don't worry, they definitely know this is an important issue. They are looking into it. Yes, their previous fixes didn't work for long, so they have to start all over again, and yes, it will probably take some time. Be patient.
Hell, I've been one of the first 'affected' accounts, haven't been able to go online with my main profile since early January!
I've learned to accept it (for now ;)) - secondary profile works just as well.

I can't get online with WipEout HD since January... :/
already tried to delete the game and re-download it, delete the save data (after backup), but nothing works...
the error message is: "An error occurred while contacting the server. Please try again."
the online mode works fine with my other PSN accounts (and its awsome ^^)
I have 99 friends in my main account, PSN id: NUD3_br
oh, and sorry if I wrote something wrong... english is not my 1st language ;)

Rest assured that you are not the only one with this problem, and it's being worked on by SCEE. For now, you'll have to race with your other account.

Try to delete some of your friends, and it might work again, that's what I did, I think
Raced Yelder and Pirhapac today along with several others. And the races where great, but they where unfortunately fuked up due to those Windows Vista Weapons pads that are non responsive, and are sure a pain in the arse.

yes he got again some problems with his 'El Habib' profile : using Angry-habib now ( damn i need to think about adding him to my buddie list since i deleted the old-habib account :) )
used a work around fix last week to get online and i have not had a problem since. not sure if its been posted in this thread so i apologise in advance if it has.
i simply didnt sign in to the psn and booted the game up. clicked the online option (ingame) and was forced to sign in via xmb. as soon i was into the psn i was online racing. i have no idea how this has fixed my 'server connection error' problem but it has worked a treat for me. give it a go and see if it works for you.

I'm upgrading from a 15mbps (max) internet connection to a 30mbps (max) connection tomorrow. I'm very curious as to how this will effect my online gaming and, specifically, the lag issues with WOHD. Anyone that knows more than me about this stuff have any thoughts? I play wirelessly using a pretty nice g-band router...
Yeah - you want the biggest performance increase - go wired - not wireless. Dropped packets, missed pings, parity errors cause random delays and drops that wouldn't happen if you had wired. (everything from cell phones, motors, microwaves and other wireless networks can wreak havoc on your connection integrity) What you wouldn't even notice while browsing the web or streaming audio/video via wifi - can still hurt an online game plenty in terms of response.
Speed upgrade won't help as much as you think - as the game bandwidth *should* operate the same providing you reach the minimum requirements. (meaning if the game uses 30kbs data stream and you're using a 15000kbs internet connection - a 30000kbs connection won't really matter)
The biggest issue, which is often overlooked is your PING - data travels in "packets", the ping is the delay time between these packets. Meaning the server sends your PS3 a packet - and the time it takes your PS3 to reply is your ping. Faster ping is always better - and upgrading your connection speed won't necessarily mean you get a faster ping. I'd ask, to be sure.
Faster pings rule - ask someone who is a FPS nut - or wiki for moar. :)
Why in the world can I not sign into the Online Mode under my PSN name Wip3ou7pure? I can do it from the same machine on other names, but not on my main name. I also tried signing in from my account on a different PS3 to WipEout HD online and it still wont let me play! What the f is going on here?! Someone please help me get playing again.
Wip3ou7, I understand your pain, I was abducted myself (kanar ID) in february. I'm obliged to play online through my kanar_is_back ID. A lot of us were abducted (leungbok, kigo, habib, Danterich, Acrooklin...) Maybe they'll fix that in the near future... Elhabib had contacts with SL, they're working on it. Sometimes I'm wondering if this game hates us or what. I mean, erased saves, Ids abducted by the servers, & now 1.30 lag issues... Crazy. No! I won't play any other game!
This is so discouraging. Seriously you havent been able to play for that long? I really dont want to spend time playing online and investing ranks in an ID that isnt my main ID which I platinumed the game on. I want to use my main name, this is unacceptable. I know it might sound selfish but fixing the online for people who are unable to play due to some kind of server-side issue should be their top priority.
yep, and it is. But afaik the people at SL can't do much about it themselves - SCEE people are working on it, since it seems to be a problem with PSN itself.
There must be some common denominator [all having similar settings/info on your PS3's] to have caused this problem.
Something that differs from those who have not suffered it.
@ IH8YOU - Yah, I know wired is best, but that would require me boring through walls and/or ceilings and trying to snake a cable from upstairs to downstairs...major PITA...sure, I could run a cable down my stairs and all around out in the open, but that would be unsightly and having to look at it would drive me nuts. So, wired isn't much of an option for me. Anyway, I'm upgrading my speed today, so we'll see if I notice a difference. I'll be sure to report my results...
I've switched back to wired since the 1.30 patch to see if it helped with the god awful lag but to be honest it doesn't seem to have made much difference at all....still crap! ;)

Still running wireless (all be it though the router is about 2 feet from the PS3) and don't have to many freezes from lag. I get more freezes from my PS3 freezing now-a-days
@ IH8YOU - I must say, that is VERY tempting, my friend... Hmmm... I wasn't able to get my internet up and running with the new modem yesterday (damn Comcast), but I should be good to go tonight. I'll be testing it out vigorously this weekend, wireless-style.
