just an addition to drak's post:
yes, the linksys router is the only ROUTER on which kai works, however, there ARE other ways to connect, you don't have to change routers, don't worry. Best to get would be a D-LINK DWL-122 USB wireless card. Just read this whole thread for more information.

Alright, thanks. Not exactly the answer i was hoping for but...
Oh and Drakkenmensch I DID read the whole thread, it was just that we got off topic and then people started posting about different types of ways to do it and :? :? :? .
Anyways, thanks people, hopefully I'll see you soon on Kai.

Always looking forward to racing with new people, MissileStrike :)

what time is everyone usually online with xlink? i never seem to play with anyone i recognise from here :( which means i usually win
-
I stil haven't played any one here yet. If anyone with the Japanese version wants a game, I'm online now and for most of the evening.
-
I'd love to play with you if we were on at the same time, Hellfire, I have a japanese version at hand. Too bad I'm at work rigth now
-
If I`m on it`s usually from around 10.30 to 11pm. I have euro and USA versions. I think the only wz people I`ve raced are El and Drak - and they are fearsome :D . There are a few other good players, though sometimes it`s just easy wins - less stressful but not so much fun.
-
Drak, what time do you finish? I'll see if I can get online when you're back.
-
I finish work at 5pm eastern time and get home about an hour later, so that's roughly 1 or 2 am GMT, more or less.
-
....ouch..... :(
Maybe once I'm back at uni I could organise something
-
Yeah, time zone differences are a real killer when you live across the world

anyone on kai tonite

As the online pilots might have noticed, KAI has been offline since yesterday, and still is. Since the official homepage was down, too, I started to get a bit worried.
I just tried the xlink homepage again, and it's all good, just maintenance.
"Web services have been disabled due to maintenance issues. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to have services restored shortly."

That's reassuring, I was starting to be afraid that they had experienced a Keenspace-style server meltdown (their server has actually MELTED from a hardware fire)

UPDATE
Official text on teamxlink.co.uk:
Monday October 10th, 2005
On Friday October 7th our core server in Amsterdam went offline at around 11 PM EST. As a result, authentication is unavailable making logging in to Kai impossible. Since that time, we have been working around the clock to restore functionality to the server and/or recover the data. Our technical contact at the data center is unable to go onsite there until Tuesday October 11th. Based on his ‘remote-hands’ diagnostics, we do not anticipate any issues recovering the data and restoring full functionality.
We appreciate the patience everyone has shown during this outage and we will keep everyone posted on where we are in the recovery process. Thank you for your ongoing support. We WILL be back up shortly.
